Is Celine DIVA enough?

I think Celine is a diva, where it counts...on the stage. When it comes to talent, performance and presence she reigns supreme. It would be nice if she could have a few Diva moments or acknowledge how good she is, but that's not her. It has never has been. Anyway, she's been on VH1 Diva's the most (1998, 2002, 2003). That has to count for something. :clap:

Celine isn't a diva because Rene is the business diva. My cousin is a producer at a morning news program and she told me Rene is EXTREMELY demanding. She said Celine walks in (and is very nice) and does her thing because Rene does all the dealing beforehand. So why should she be demanding and a diva when Rene knows what she wants and does it for her?

 

 

Rene might seem to be demanding of what he wants for Celine. Who doesn't go to the "ends of the earth" to make things "right" for someone that we truly love. He loves her, and wants her to be treated well, since he himself views her as "the queen of his life". Too bad that more people don't "roll out the red carpet" for those that they love! That's how we should all treat our loved ones. Rene is ready to move the heavens and the earth for Celine. The greatest gift that a father can give his children is to truly love their mother! A round of applause for Rene!!!!

The TC Tour is actually the 2nd best-selling tour by a solo artist (both genders tegether) of all-time.

 

As for the diva thing, Celine is waaay too nice to be a bona-fide diva-b*tch. That's simply how her personnality is. Love it or leave it.

 

But anyway, it all depends of the defintion we give to the vague diva concept. It's not a concept we can actually mesure or clearly define so it's silly to say that a person is ''not enough'' diva or ''too much'' diva.

 

Don't be pedantic, I know full well the credentials of the TC tour - solo artist or female artist.

 

And Lady Gaga will gross AT LEAST $250m based on a capacity of 80% or thereabouts, of each arena/stadium she has booked so far.

 

As for Celine's personality - I remain in the same mindset as before. Fortunately, we live in a world where I can criticise her until the cows come home. It has little to do with lowering your standards - I don't want her to make any nasty comments or belittle another artist. I want her to stop being so goofy, quit talking about the children at every stage, start talking about how AMAZING her career has been/what her favourite records are/what she thinks is her defining vocal etc.

Umm don't shoot me here but I feel Celine does have a "a little bit" of the DIVA(b-word) mentality. For example with her voice training, and having things done a certain way. Sometimes that's what turns me off about Celine, however, she doesn't do it all the time.

For her not being a demanding a wenchy form of a DIVA is certainly a good thing.

I wonder what he thought of his ex!- Yes Tommy was definately right! But he was married to Mariah! another DIVA!

 

To me the word DIVA has two definitions(although there are many now).

 

Diva can mean a wenchy demanding woman who wants everything her way. Two can mean she is charasmatic and demand presence. She is also an earned a hardworking legend that has nothing to prove to anyone. Also she has been in the industry enough to earn that name.

 

-Celine is a DIVA(TWO) in that she is a legend and does the above what I have stated. Celine performs like she lives the stage. Many people from many ages, races, religions, and music tastes love her. There are people that don't like her but they admit she can sing or is a true artist. She is just respected by a lot of people. That to me is what is a DIVA is.

 

Though I am offended about these younger singers being called DIVAS. To me they are just not there yet.

 

 

Celine has the right to want a song to be the way she wants it to be. After all, it's her song and she's the one who is singing it. All teachers have different teaching styles. For one thing, a student will accept a certain style more heartily if the teacher feels comforatble with what and how s/he is teaching. When the teacher is uncomfortable, the students don't tend to grasp the concept as well nor will they be as attentive. My classroom is like my 2nd home. So, the stage is Celine's 2nd home. She's totally comfortable and in control of herself when she's on stage. She herself has said that the stage is where she feels powerful. That's not a "high and mighty" attitude, but one where she's at peace with herself.

 

Also, the younger singers aren't at the stage of "diva" yet either. They still have too much growing up to accomplish, and refine what truly defines what the meaning of a real diva is. Hopefully most people get better with age. You learn thru life's lessons what you should say and how you should think and act and hopefully realize what's really important. I'm still learning those lessons, and I suspect that I will continue to do so throughout my life.

I truly love to hear Celine talk about her upcoming CD's etc, but I totally love hearing about her children etc. So, I guess that she can't keep everyone happy all the time. As a mother, I love my children. So, it endears me when I hear Celine speak profoundly about her love for her family. Those things are so strong in Celine's heart, and I totally agree with her. So, yes I want to hear about the singing/career aspect, but it always pulls at my heart to hear Celine's emotional comments about her family etc. How her children are raised and how they grow up to be adults is much more important than a career. Of course, a career is important as that it helps to provide for your family. Celine should put her family first before the career. Once you've had children, you've made the committment to raise them to the best of your ability. I believe that's what Celine hopes to do and strives to do. I praise her for that and her priorities in life. So, it never bothers me one bit when she talks about her family!

Well, Celine probably just had a lot on her plate with the moving to Vegas (during the documentary) and just having 2 babies. She's probably trying to justify why she wants things the way that she wants them, and then she just can't spend the time trying to figure it all out so that everyone will understand. So, then she just starts to stand up for what she wants and doesn't care, 'cause if that's what she wants then ..........that's what she wants. LOL My students many times want to know why I want something a certain way. Well, I might be pulled in many directions and to take the time to try to explain it to them will just take away from what we need to do. So, therefore I resort to saying, "Because I said so, and that's all you need to know"!!!! My mother did that many times, and she was the sweetest most wonderful mother in the world. I always remember her telling me after I had children, "Now who is running the place? Mom or the kids? Remember, you're the one in charge"!!! She was right. You do it with love, but sometimes something has to be a certain way just because you're the one in control and in order to maintain that control you have to have things go the way you need them to go! Your brain in on a one way track and to mess with it will just cause chaos!!! Also, we all have our meltdowns. Even I do, 'cause we're human!!!

 

Trust me "Prima_Donna1", I think that you're great, and I enjoy our Celinish friendship!!!!! I'm still laughing over that comment, and I suspect that I will throughout the rest of the evening!!!! Well, Celine is obviously very business like when it comes to her profession. When she's in rehearsal, or on stage, that is her office. She is the head of the company and she tells everyone which file goes in what cabinet so to speak. That's how it should be. She's running a company and wants it to come out on top and for this to happen, the boss of a company needs to be stern and make it known of what she wants and expects in order for their business to run as smoothly as possible.

To be honest, I wouldn't want her personality any other way. She is polite, but knows what she wants, which I think is a good quality.

 

I don't know, criticizing her music is one thing, but I think criticizing her personality is going a bit too far...but, of course, that's just my opinion!

Ughhhh omg seriously??? She still IS popular...all because she's not on the cover of magazines, airplayed, or on tv 24/7 doesn't mean she's popular. And all those people who are "popular" now all have shoddy morals or none at all. And they do crazy stuff or they are all flat out annoying so I'm glad Celine isn't apart of that.

What do you mean? She is not HOT now but by all means she is waaaayyyyyy more popular than the older bands and singers who are still outthere now making music. We talk about Celine not getting good promotion but she gets it better than lets say "Journey or Chicago" who have been out for decades making music. Taking Chances probably did better than their albums. She is also more top 40 relevant than them too. Celine is still popular by far not like she used to be but enough to get far. Btw I like the bands mentioned more than I like her. I don't like Celine anyless tho.

I sure wish that Celine sang more songs in Spanish tho' so I could show them to my students. I still sneak a few songs in for them in English or French when we've finished the lesson for the day. Some of my students are asking me to put on Celine's songs and a few have even told me that they've added some of her songs to their I-pods etc. I'm helping to promote another generation of Celine fans!!!! I think that Celine and Rene should put me on their payroll!!!! I'm even wearing my Celine shirts all week, 'cause we're wearing jeans since we're having state tests. The principals at my school have even watched "My Love" 'cause I told them how much it means to me, and they're getting a "kick" out of my shirts. LOL

Well, in fact, one of my students did ask me if she was going to have a new CD out soon. So, I was thrilled to let her know that I'll keep her posted!!!! She said that she's looking forward to getting it!!! Yay!!!

 

Yes, it's been fun wearing my shirts so far this week. Each day I call it round 1 - 5. Tomorrow (round 4) will be the "Guess Who's Back" shirt with Celine on the back, and (round 5) Friday will be the one that has "I love Celine Dion" on the front pocket, and then it says "And Celine Dion loves me" on the back!!!! LOL I'm a walking billboard for Celine!!!

 

That would be awesome to see one of my past students on the forum! They keep teasing me that they're going to join so that they can find me and see what I post!!! LOL
