Teachers: The good, the bad and in between.

i just feel that just because they make up the assignments or just teaching the class that they can do what ever they want to do to in the class. Btw I am just trying to say things here. I do not want to offend anyone.

It ok, you can say that your not happy with one or more of your teachers.

Teachers have a lot more work to do than just grading tests...

You're only looking at it from the students point of view.

Exactly, Ray. They don't consider the pedagogical side of things like how long it takes to come up with a lesson plan and how we decide what to assign as homework.

Also teachers got issues to sort out with student when things go wrong, for example a student make a complaint about their teacher swearing in class and so on.

Having said that, I been giving one of the girls at tafe a break by helping her out with dealing with an issue where certiprep refused to work anywhere on any of the computers at tafe, I been reporting if the problem has been fixed or not and so on so that she doesn't need to go and do all the testing herself (She wouldn't have the time to do it). At one point we both got annoyed but we didn't take out on each other and we are still talking to each other. And no the issue isn't fixed yet.

The bad: I had a third grade teacher who would go out of her way to bully me. I have a handwriting disability and Asperger's syndrome so my writing isn't very good and she just kept marking me off for it instead of trying to help and just kept verbally abusing me.

The Good: My high school french teacher was just a great teacher no other words to describe it. Plus an added bonus was is she's a celine fan like me and the rest of us on here :D

^I can't believe that you had a teacher that used to bully you! That's just so wrong ! Wow... Aren't they supposed to do the opposite ?

That's great to hear that you had a good french teacher.

S is still by far, the best teacher that I have had.

I just want to take a second to mention how hard teachers work. They do a lot and I think that their work is often underestimated.

Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Je ne les oublierais jamais.

J't'adore Céline.

Merci.

This is true. BUT if I am paying thousands of dollars to go to college, and the fact that the professors are getting paid for this, as it's their job/career, then they have the responsibility to take care of their students in a timely and structured fashion and I know for a fact it can be done:

Good experience- I Absolutely LOVED my Social Psych professor. She had 2 classes, all her assignments were by paper, we had a group project assignment, 10 small quizzes, midterm, and final. She was also a full time social worker, wife, and mother of 4 [two of which had psychological problems] She was amazing. Always thoughtful, kind, generous, willing to help, personable, organized, and on time. She took no longer than 2 weeks to correct anything and usually it was by the next week. I appreciated that.

My Bio-psych professor on the other hand was not as great. Half of his assignments were online and he never took less than 3 weeks to grade them, even though most were worth a tiny portion of our final grade. He spoke out of term, he was kind of rude and when a student didn't understand a concept he would almost roll his eye and drably repeat what he had said before. He would smirk, huff, and just be all around rude. He taught 2 classes the whole semester.

I've never had a truly bad professor but I know people who have and I know what I would consider a bad professor/teacher, what I would consider unreasonable, and what I would put up with before contacting their higher ups. In saying that, I have always had the best relationships with every teacher/professor I've had, besides my biopsych prof.
