She's not only my favorite singer but also one of the people that I look up to. She's actually my idol. I admire her for being the person that she is, and I'm quite sure that most of her fans (if not all of us) admire her for that reason. She's so down-to-earth and very honest and generous.

 

She really express her feelings through her voice, through her songs, and moves people's emotions. I know this might sound weird, but I hope that someday a Celine song makes me get so emotional as to cry, and it's not easy to make me cry . I want that because that would probably be a situation in which the connection to her would be total and complete. Just like she makes us laugh sometimes, there's nothing wrong with making us cry, after all, it's a matter of expressing our emotions.

Céline is so much. So much more than just a singer. She's an amazing person with a huge heart and a beautiful soul. She's an outstanding mother and great wife. I love Céline because of the person that she is. It's not the amount of prizes that she's won, it's more about the people that she has touched and helped with her beautiful words. She brings people's emotions out, she has such an impact on so many people (like us) and brings us to do things that we never thought we would do (like go to Vegas!). Céline also makes people realize that everyone is special, that it's ok to have dreams and to make those dreams come true. All this to say that Céline means a lot to me, she let me know that it's ok to have dreams and to stand up for what you believe in and to be myself. Thank you Céline. Merci Céline, t'es super importante pour moi, merci pour toutes les belles choses que tu nous apportes!

I admire her a lot, because it's a very rare case that someone possesses her big sense of humor and humanity in combination with a very dramatic singing style. That's very unusual and makes her unique. I love her for her performances, especially the ballads, I just love drama lol and she's great. She's a winner, that's it.

For me she is an enigma. I refuse to believe that she actually is what she shows to the world (that she is a perfect singer and a good woman, good wife, good mother, peace in the world, happy family forever and ever together and all that stuff...) There has to be more real things, so normal in each human being: sadness, frustration, self-destruction, that she will never show us, even in those 24 hour documentaries... I could be probably the perfect "hater" with all that unconsciousness and silliness and that innocent point of view of the world ( all the parents, and children of the world...) that she has. All this years singing almost only for good love, singing about nothing personal, only global feelings to earn a lot of money selling millions of copies... (her english career)

 

But then, her voice enter through my ears, passes through my wall of mature cultural self-protection and stuck in the bottom of my brain and I just can enjoy with every note realizing that she is a perfect instrument, she knows how to make you believe that stupid love song tells your story, when it was designed to the masses to feel the same.

 

So I love her as much as I Hate her, she is like drugs... once she is inside you, you want more and more.

 

Another examples for me: She is like watching Scary Movie, so delightful, when you have expended the whole night watching Citizen Kane and some classic european movies (Tarkovsky, Visconti, Bergman, etc...) or she is like eating a Big Mac when you have expended the whole week in gourmets restaurants.

 

Celine Dion for me is like, "Ey brain! Stop thinking and just enjoy the utopic perfect melodramatic love experience!"

Even though I discovered her music not too long ago, she already means so much to me. I admire her for being kind and generous, and never giving up until her dreams came true. One of her songs literally changed my life, helped me get over something I thought I'd NEVER get over. Her music helped me connect with a friend, and now we're closer than ever. Without her, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet some truly amazing people on this forum. She even helps me with my emotions - I tend to bottle them up, and she has taught me that it's okay to cry. I've been passionate about music for years, but I don't think anybody's moved me quite like she has. I can't figure out if it's the wonderful voice, the lyrics which I can so relate to, or both.

 

It's only been 4 1/2 months, and already, I can't imagine my life without Céline.

I don't even know where to start. She has opened so many things to my awareness. It was at my first, and so far only show of hers that so many realizations dawned on me. And I cried when I went to her movie. She makes me see things I would never have before, or differently. She calms me whenI am scared. When I sing, I imagine her there listening to me. She is a big part of the reason I auditioned for a TV show. She has awakened in me a desire I have always had to be a singer. If I could have half the soul and the passion as her when I sing, that would be grand. she is inspiring and makes me aspire to something more. When I cry while performing, I realize it's okay because she does it. She make some things seem so much more human.

She is a roller coaster ride, once you are on, you never want to get off. Once you love her, you want to forever. And when you feel her love coming back to you, you realize it's the greatest ecstacy ever and you can't wait to see where else she will lead you!

Of course she's not perfect. Celine is a human being, after all, and no human is perfect! I chose to talk more about how she makes me feel rather than who/what she is, since the topic is "What Celine means to me."
