GoldenLeaf Posted October 24, 2011 at 07:54 PM Posted October 24, 2011 at 07:54 PM (edited) Mariah's Merry Christmas has sold about 2m copies more than Celine on a worldwide basis - for e.g. in Asia, Merry Christmas sold some 5m copies. These Are Special Times barely sold 1 fifth of that. In Canada however, These Are Special Times was Celine's fifth diamond album, Merry Christmas sold barely a quarter of that. Worldwide These Are Special Times has sold about 11-11.5m copies, compared to around 13m for Mariah's Merry Christmas. The gap between the two was once over 100,000 copies - now, its shrinking each year. I hope that Celine can hold on for one more year! It's not that I don't believe you but I'd like to see actual facts and proofs stating this. I know for a fact that MC is certified 5 times Platinum in Japan (whereas TAST is certified 2 times Platinum, although I suspect it is undercertifed) but I think the 5 millions figure for MC on the Asian continent is exaggerated. Also, TAST outsold MC in several countries such as Canada, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden... Like I said, that would be great to have their current and respective Xmas album sales (and not shipments) for the European and Asian continents backed up by facts and proofs if possible.
