The manufacturing of DATs was discontinued in 2005 by Sony, and during their life it seems that only big audio companies (e.g. recording studios) used them. The equipment used to record and read them is now costly and hard to find. I checked with my university, and our media center doesn't even have a DAT player (you need a DAT player, not a standard cassette player). Also, the life of a DAT is only 10-15 years before the data becomes corrupt. So, I have no doubt that these tapes are real, but it's likely that one or more of them are ruined due to time and poor storage. For whomever does purchase them, they must quickly be sent to a company that has the technology to convert the tapes into mp3 format. Whether or not the buyer wants to share these mp3s with us, the tapes must be converted quickly, before the data is lost forever. Not MP3, but rather FLAC or CUE or any other LOSSLESS audio format, that is a one which preserves all the frequency content of the original master! I tried checking all the dates but those were the only two, 12-1-95 & 10-11-95 when she was doing other things those days. The others could be real & not demo singers.
