Why does Rolling Stone magazine hate Celine?

And actually she's not in their artist data in the official page, if you wanna find her, there's no exist Celine Dion and I remember that i read long ago something about the Rolling Stone Band (mainly Mick Jagger) "it said that Celine Dion was a bad singer, and they hate her"

Because she covered You Shook Me All Night Long, (which i dont understand why she would sing a song about handjobs) and they thought it was aweful. If you want to read the worst comments on Celine, just read the comments left on the youtube video. People are insanely rude. I thougth she did an awesome job for a woman. They also hate Mariah Carey - pop female singers with big voices don't go down well with Rolling Stone. They jump on the success bandwagon - they ADORED Celine during the 90's.

Yes but Mariah Carey was included in the Best femmale singers in the magazine, Celine wasn't , but Celine has a million of fans including other artist, singers that's good, 'cause many of them consider her an amazing person, with a big heart and big talent. Actually, I do agree a little with this... Anyway, I don't think she needs any magazine to like/dislike her. Let's face it. She's never been so very popular with most people simply because Celine isn't as scandalous as many other celebs. She is one of the best singers indeed but the truth is that many people are interested in other things than in talent. I think magazines are more intersted in writing about other kind of people, very different from Celine, in order to sell better. That's all.

I think it's not about drugs and sex; They look and respect that kind of artist who has some transgression with their music or social life, You named Aretha Franklin, she is a classy so respected because she, in her ways, fought for female and afroamerican rights, and she brought the soul and gospel music to another level, She made RESPECT!. Celine Dion is one of the greatest performers in music history, she has THE VOICE, and incredible presence in the stage, elegance, etc. But, Celine, unfortunately, still hasn't said anything in music, (regardless of the success) no real moving feelings, always singing about superficial love and happiness with easy 90's pop compositions. The perfect singer, with the perfect life, and that, in any art, it's totally non-productive. I love to hear Celine, but, by this moment, I can't consider her a moving artist. I don't mind if Rolling Stone "hate" Celine Dion, They are not going to change my opinion about Celine, I will keep on listening, but I understand that Celine and Rolling Stone philosophy doesn't match.

And who decides what transgression is or who has something to say in music? Rolling Stone Magazine? A singer who has sold more than 200 million albums has said a lot in music and to a lot of people. Maybe some artists say something in music and then nobody buys their albums, so at the end they say nothing. Has Britney Spears said something in music? Are her lyrics deeper than Celines? Has she fought for female rights? I don’t think so, but I am sure Rolling Stone loves her and us all now why.

What is wrong with That’s the way it is? Everybody liked this song when it came out... Anyway, it is all a matter of taste. I once read some of these Rolling Stone lists, The 100 albums you must listen to before you die or something like that and I thought I was from another planet cause I barely knew some of them. I am glad Celine has nothing to say to Rolling Stone and a lot to say to me and her million fans. Let see where all these transgression artists (like Gaga) are in a couple of years.

Well, Mr. Spears has her fans for a reason, remember guys to respect if you want to be respected And I do not consider her a "transgression" artist, she's been successful since 2003 I think, and, actually, she did one important thing that Celine hasn't done yet: adapt herself to the changes of the music industry.

Did I say something wrong about Spears? I also listen to her. I just said her lyrics are as deeper as Celine’s could be but please don’t say she adapted herself to the changes of the music industry, she did nothing, she has good producers that give her good songs, but that’s all, she never performs, she never dances, she never sings, she can’t even give an interview without repeating amazing, cool or awesome two million times and these are the things I listen from her fans. Anyway, I just used her like an example, there is not point to compare Celine and Britney Spears, they are just too different. I just hope someday she could get an honour award and give a speech thanking her fans for their support and not use her time to introduce Beyonce... I’ll tell you if I change my mind after her concert in Lisbon.

Yeah I agree, Britney has not adapted to the changes. And in her own way, I actually think Celine has. And, even if she hadn't, she doesn't need to. She's frdaking Celine Dion!!

And I do not think she sings about "supperficial" love and happiness. What she sings about moves/inspires people so much it's not even funny. Have any of you seen the Operah episode where a young girl who was orphaned talked about Celine teaching her how to love after being so abandoned and neglected? Have you heard how inspirational she is to people overcoming impossible odds? and you tell me she's not moving? Maybe people have become immune to her music after so long, numb, or maybe no longer listening. But she moves me every single time I hear her!
