How Can u say all this when u haven't seen the show?! You know nothing more than the rest of us do. I for one LOVE the setlist and infact everything about the show. Javito Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:05 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:05 PM It's true we're being touchy and complaining a lot these days, but you know it's part of the game. We've been waiting for months to know the songs she was going to sing in this new show, and I'm sure that the last thing everyone here expected is to see such amount of covers, so that's what many of us found disappointing. One of the many things I love the most about this forum is that there is every kind of fan here, but we all love Céline and can talk with respect and have an opinion about her career. Her music is what joins all us here in the end. I'm sure Céline is doing all this with all her heart and passion into it, so I'm for sure giving her a chance There's going to be 3 years to rectify and make corrections if this setlist does not work or if they (hopefully) listen us . Please don't go anywhere and bear with us! Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
celinemaniac07 Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:07 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:07 PM Let me first say I am confident regardless of the setlist that this show will be amazing. With that being said I think its really unfortunate that most of celines own songs in the show have been drastically cut or shortened for time. As other people have said the covers are not cut for the most part. Its all Coming Back to me Now, The Power of Love..which is alittle over a minute I believe? If that is true that is ridiculous. The reason is probably shortened, Where Does My Heart Beat Now is shortened with an entire verse taken out, Declaration of Love was shortened now its instrumental and next it will be cut, LCMM was slightly cut and RDMH was cut with a verse taken out. I am guessing that BYLM was not the full version but the version we heard on the Taking Chances Tour or even in AND..can anyone confirm if BYLM is the entire song with all the verses? So thats atleast 7 Celine songs that have been cut or put in a medley or shortened. All the covers for the most part are full. Its strange and odd to say the least. Its like a teaser..here are celines big hits but you only get samples and fragments of them...and then they put a huge fan favorite in the show and have her perform it and then its taken out and put in as instrumental. Not a very nice teaser. Then Barnev says as of now its in the show..thats half true..its instrumental! lol..I will go to the show and I will love every minute, Celine will be wonderful and I will probably even like it better than A New Day, but I still am scratching my head over how many of her own songs have been shortened but the covers have not. celinemaniac07 Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:09 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:09 PM (edited) P.S. Everyone dont forget as Barnev suggested for all of us to shout and scream when the band plays the instrumental version of Declaration of Love without Celine! We all know we want to keep the instrumental version in! It baffles my mind why we would shout and scream to keep the instrumental version in if celine takes no part in it..that doesnt make much sense to me..take one of our fav songs out and expect us to be vocal about keeping the instrumental part it....im scratching my head Edited March 13, 2011 at 10:13 PM by celinemaniac07 Quote

I agree, I come hear to see if there is any more new news. I have to go through allot of pages, about people B8$ching about the show. It's extremely frustrating, when I come hear and all I see is nothing but people arguing. How the song list has to many covers no new Celine songs, the stage, costumes, how it is going to be for old people. Quote

celinemaniac07 Posted March 13, 2011 at 11:05 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 11:05 PM Correction! I think I may be wrong in the shortening of TPOL to just under 2 minutes...I rechecked the youtube clip and it says SOUNDCHECK...I do not know if this is how the version is in the real show or if it was just shortened for the soundcheck...they also have THE REASON on youtube and it says its from a soundcheck..can anyone confirm where these audio recording came from? Are they from the actual show or the soundcheck...if it is from the actual show..then the TPOL is drastically shortened to under 2 minutes Quote

Tyler1991 Posted March 14, 2011 at 02:08 AM Posted March 14, 2011 at 02:08 AM It's posts like that one above that drive me nuts. Some of you people may find our harsh opinions annoying, but the only thing more annoying than that is those of you bitching about us. For christs sake, give it a rest. Nobody is ever going to be happy, and last time I checked, this was a forum to discuss Celine. With good, there is bad also. So it should be expected for some negativity to be posted. The way some of you try to control these opinions and restrict people from voicing themselves is ridiculous. Get the hell over it and realize that being a fan does not mean who can praise Celine the most. Part of being a fan is realizing there are flaws among the good. And lastly, if all everyone does is praise without bitching, than there will never be any change. Just like one branch of government acts as a check and balance between another, the fans do the same for Celine. Opinions NEED to be heard in order for this to be effective though. I guarantee you the thing Rene and the creators of the show want (and need) is input and a critical opinion. Do you think these people would want to be lied to when they survey attendees how they liked the show? Hell no. They want the most critical opinion they can get so they can do everything in their power to make the show better. And that's all I see. Critical opinions. Nobody is attacking Celine. It's just people expressing their opinion about the setlist. Quote

It's just people expressing their opinion about the setlist. The whole point of a forum is to have open discussion where people should be free to express their opinions respectfully. But there's a difference between expressing personal discontent vs. making sweeping generalizations that on some level are quite insulting to other members who might enjoy the setlist (the show's only for old geezers, what a snoosefest, the show doesn't cater to "true" celine fans [what is a "true" celine fan?], et cetera). In general people should stop acting as if they represent "Celine fans" as a whole..As if it somehow strengthens their argument. You only represent yourself. What's more, it's anyone's right to make their dream set list but it's just so funny and moot to see people post their setlists with extremely specific replacements which they insinuate will "make Celine fans much happier" when our tastes on this forum vary dramatically from person to person. No dream setlist will please all fans. I think there's constructive criticism and then there's just whining. I'm not saying everyone on here who expressed discontent with the show/setlist was whining, and many of you had good points (this post itself must sound quite whiny and long winded) but some of the posts were quite obnoxious. Tyler1991 Posted March 14, 2011 at 04:10 AM Posted March 14, 2011 at 04:10 AM I don't think those "sweeping generalizations" about the show being for old geezers was meant to offend anyone. People need to stop making everything about themselves and realize that it's nothing to get offended about. We all know that the Vegas crowd is largely different than a touring crowd. That is a fact. The statement was just a way of saying that. Quote

celine81 Posted March 14, 2011 at 07:53 AM Posted March 14, 2011 at 07:53 AM I love this preoccupation with "listening to the fans." Yes, there's the argument that it's the 'fans' that put her there through sales of albums, concert tickets, merchandise etc. I understand that of course. However we must accept that Celine the singer is a product that has to sell. It's true that this latest show is different and not to everyone's liking (here anyway). She must be allowed creative freedom as an artist and do what she and Rene and her production team feel is commercially viable and satisfying for her to perform. Commericial viability, and mass appeal in Vegas is not going to be achieved by her doing what's expected. Her performing a full set of her own repertoire would have her deemed as being uninspiring, something she could do on any tour. Plus lets be fair she did that with 'A New Day' along with all the pizzazz that Dragone gave it. She doesn't have to do this show, she doesn't have to do anything. We should be grateful that as an artist she is wanting to continue. Don't get me wrong I fully understand the disappointments and frustrations abound on here due to people's wants not being fulfilled. She will be her own critic and I'm sure in her heart she wants us all to be satisfied but how can she..... It's like saying I want to sell bricks to a house builder, yes it would be successful as a business but surely I'd be more successful offering the house builder cement and the tools to build with also. So come on guys, of course vent your frustrations but be gracious and understanding to her and her team also. Paul xx Quote Check out my latest recordings. Recovering, Ashes, The Reason & Immortality
