Tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of this album, "The Collector's Series, Vol. 1". Starting from the 20th October, this album began its release history in Australia, the 23rd in Europe and 24th in the US/Canada.

 

This so called "collectors edition", special for fans as the official site stated, was intented to include unreleased songs (The Power Of The Dream, Be The Man (Japanese version), songs that were only included in specific editions of her albums (Sola Otra Vez, Amar Haciendo El Amor), as well as Céline's own favourites.

But, after 10 years, we are still waiting a second volume of this collection. What happened to this project?. Because something must have happened if in ten years they don't have though to release a second volume -at least- in this series (but they released other collections like My Love). What do you think? :hmm:

- "Your Light"

- "Unison (Single Mix With Rap)" feat. Frankie Fudge

- "Just Walk Away"

- "Super Love"

- "Piaf chanterait du rock"

- "Let Your Heart Decide"

 

And so on so forth, etc.! : sigh :

Exactly. Those songs are kind of 'unknown' and it would be awesome if they were released again. A lot of people are missing out who haven't heard Just Walk Away..i wish that song was promoted and released in the US :(

Well this release was fishy right form the start. It came off as a sort of compensation for not including enough hits on All The Way. Plus the logo thing, it really seems cheap and awkward, thought so right from the start.

 

This was purely a milking opportunity. Céline had gone on break but was still riding on a huge success wave. The team wouldn't spill the chance for further money making.

 

It is a much more ambitious milking project than the waste My Love, but I still find it a bit tacky.

 

The least they could have done was to follow it up, trying to cover up that it was only a cashing in project. The timing AFTER the TC tour ended would had been perfect (provided they never released that awful My Love compilation).

 

And I Knew I Loved You should be included (and should really had been on the ML cds) if you ask me. :yes:

I agree with Fred, but I think they released this cd because they didn't know how long Céline's break would last... and to be sure that the public would still know her (and to cash in on her old songs) they released this compilation cd. Maybe they planned another one for 2002 or 2003, but because she came back quite soon (in the end her break only lasted 2 years instead of 3) they abandonned the project... :shrug:

 

They could also release the rumoured remix album as part of the collectors series :whistling: and in ten years time release a live compilation! :laugh: :doh:

Yeah of course they released this to milk the public and take advantage of her position in the stardom of music industry (those were her best days in terms of popularity), but if they really had planned the second volume, 2005 was a perfect year to release that. She was in the oblivion of Vegas, nobody knew anything from her that year except the french public, because yes she released a french GH, but no english album at all for the rest of public. So after the crap live album of 2004 and the uninteresting Miracle album, they had a perfect occasion to do that, after One Heart in 2003. Of course, they missed the chance again :doh: :doh:

 

So... I don't really think they had plans for a second volume. If they had wanted to do it, they would have done it already :thumbsup2:

I've been wondering about this too. I think you're right about that greatest hits sells more than collector's editions and that's probably the truth. Sad but true. I would really want a second volume, I'd buy it for sure! :wink:

Well Dance With My Father is number 31 on this EU version. Don't get how they see that track as more European than IKILY which was connected to Morricone who is Italian if I am not completely mistaken. :hmm: The logic, the logic.... :doh:

I think the French release of ML was the best, and the UK's after that. The US edition was a joke, was it 13 tracks on each disc? what a rip off.

Lara Fabian's new best off also only has a 13 track 1 disc, or a 2 disc with 13 tracks on each cd too.... a total rip off! :glare:

 

My Love would have been much more interesting if it had IKILY on each edition + rare songs from the 00's! If I ruled the world, Let your heart decide, You and I (with Aznavour) etc...
