stchba Posted October 20, 2010 at 11:57 PM Posted October 20, 2010 at 11:57 PM Why is everyone so negative? Celine Dion was voted America's favorite singer/musician NOT madonna!!! Her tour was one of the best selling tours in history!! She is truly a legend!! People still love her!! We should stay positive, not compare her to other losers!!! Celine is much better than Kings of Leon, Madonna, U2, etc!!! I think she will get nominated, and i hope everyone was as positive as me!!! She deserves it!!! ajguerras Posted October 21, 2010 at 12:26 AM Posted October 21, 2010 at 12:26 AM I think ANDLV was a lot better than this concert recording, and it also broke so many selling records, so there is no reason this one gets a nomination, which hardly sold some copies and got much less publicity... Not being negative...just saying it like it is. The American public does not decide the Grammy nominees...it's Celine's peers and counterparts in the music industry who ultimately vote and choose the winners. Look at how many landmark releases Celine has had since ANDHC, all of them superb and up to par with her previous Grammy-winning albums, but still not even 1 measly nomination since LTAL over a decade ago. I believe they probably hold some hostility against her because she has already won every major award out there and broken every barrier possible. If I were a struggling artist or newbie, I would be extremely jealous of her success (people used to fly across the globe for God's sake to see her in Las Vegas for a 2 hour show) and I think that's what's happening here. wjd Posted November 3, 2010 at 12:04 AM Posted November 3, 2010 at 12:04 AM There is nothing landmark about One Heart, Miracle or Taking Chances lol. The reason she doesn't get nominated is because there is genuinely better music out there. Not saying that better music always prevails, but Celine has been far from her best over the last 7 years. To whomever asked, collectively, the Taking Chances World Tour (French and English editions) + the Through The Eyes DVD have shipped about 400,000 copies worldwide I'd say. She broke sales records in Canada, once again, but outside of Canada, the DVD's were far from record breaking Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

Tyler1991 Posted November 3, 2010 at 02:06 AM Posted November 3, 2010 at 02:06 AM I agree. Nobody is being negative. Some are just being delusional. And saying OH and Miracle are up to par with FIY/LTAL is an insult to Celine's career. And while TC had terrible promotion, I did feel that it was a well put together album, but still a step behind FIY/LTAL. Quote

I don't think it's a biased group of people that judge for the Grammy winners.Yet those people that judge for the Grammy nominations/winners don't seem impartial either. The ''A New Day... Live In Las Vegas'' DVD was snubbed big time by the Grammy despite being the ''Best Selling DVD of All Time By A Solo Singer'' and #1 all over the world. Same thing about the ''A New Has Come Come'' CD, this album is one of the best selling album of the decade and was #1 all over the world yet it was snubbed by the Grammy back in 2003. I can understand why OH, Miracle and TC didn't get nominated, but the fact that ANDHC and the ''AND... Live In LV'' DVD didn't get any nominations is just silly. pat200 Posted November 3, 2010 at 08:54 AM Posted November 3, 2010 at 08:54 AM Collectively they sold about 600k worldwide Wayne. TTEOTW sold more than 200k in Canada alone and the concerts sold more than 150k. Plus she sold over 100k from both in the US, around 40k in France, 40k in UK (of both), so ur numbers are off a bit Quote

Tyler1991 Posted November 3, 2010 at 10:38 PM Posted November 3, 2010 at 10:38 PM I disagree with the statement of saying it is average. Of course a big fan who sees all the disappointments of the DVD and sees what it lacks is going to say it could have been better. For instance, no I'm Your Angel, shortened speeches, intro cut, slightly obvious dubbing, etc... I bet if we were big fans of U2 we would have our own criticisms, but because we are not, we do not have the knowledge of "what could have been." I own about 20+ concert DVDs from various artists and aside from TCOML concert, I've always felt Celine's were edited the best. Others have shakey camera movements and asre just poorly edited. Quote

Back in 2008 when were hoping & praying that Celine would be nominated for TC, I posted an interview on here I did with one of my professors who is a six time Grammy winner (he writes liner notes for jazz albums). He explained to me that over the years, the Grammy process has been accused of being too oriented towards popularity or not popular enough--a no-win situation. What the Grammys are is the collective opinion of the voting members about their peers, specifically, their work in a given year. The voting is restricted to people who take an active part in the creative recording process...i.e. singers, songwriters, producers, liner note writers.
