New Version Of "Beauty & The Beast" by Jordin Sparks

Jordan sparks is an amazing singer, but this song is a Celine classic that should never be touched by another artist. I agree with Lindsey. Disney used to be way more magical feeling. There songs just arn't the same anymore. Maybe they could have Celine do another Disney song and she could bring the magic back to life, like how she did when Disney was going down hill in the early ninties!!

 

I don't know if anyone know's this story, but back then there hadn't been a Disney hit song in over 30 years or something and Celine's duet with Beabo Changed the history of Disney forever!! If it wasn't for Celine there might not be Disney today. I heard that story on a countdown of Celine movie songs once.

That version is trying to hard to be current, and it spoils the song as a result. Nearly 20 years on, Celine and Paebo's version is still going strong but this version will sound outdated by next week.

I agree! I have heard B&TB twice in the last month on the radio. I'm the freak driving down the highway blasting B&TB... it's just more exciting when it's on the radio.

yeah I have to agree... the cover from Jordan doesn't has to do anything with the movie, if this was a song for Princess and the Frog, it would have been oke, cos that's a current Disney movie and that movie has upbeat songs, but BATB doesn't have that and the song is just sooo out of place!

 

I can't believe all the disdain I'm reading. For a pop plucky remake of an old classic, I think Jordin really did a great job with this. You can't blame the girl. Disney is obviously looking to sell more dvd copies and reintroduce this movie to a new generation of youngsters who can hop onto itunes and purchase Jordin's version. I don't know how many 6-10 year olds even know who Celine is to buy her version. It's all about the profit at the end of the day. They could care less what the song sounds like as much as how many new fans they can reel in who will dish out the money and invest in this re-release. I think Jordin must have known when she was recording this song that she certainly had big shoes to fill. She also wasn't probably too excited about the fast techno beat in the background, but this is the direction they wanted her to go in and this is the type of rhythm that sells today. We should be honored. Look at how many songs Celine has covered through the years. Most of her hits are covers!

 

you are totally right about the covers, and I wouldn't mind if a songs like the reason or misled were covered.... but an epic song like this shouldn't be molested in a cheap trying to be current r'n b pop crossover song

Yup Jordin is a Celine fan (so is Vanessa Hudgens, Celine's like her favorite singer besides Alicia Keys), Jordin actually credited Celine on her liner notes for her first album along with other artists

It is a shame that Disney does mass produce these young acts to cover old material. It really is. In fact, I don't even buy the new remastered Disney soundtracks (even thought beauty and the beast needed it, as did La petite sirène" because of these "bonus" tracks.

 

But let's face it, the music industry caters to the tween age. They're the ones who have the money (thanks to their parents who don't make them work).

Just FYI, Jordin Sparks'version of Beauty and The Beast will ONLY be a bonus video clip that Disney will stick on his 2010 re-release of BATB. It's not like you're going to hear it on the radio or that she will gain something out of re-doing a 20-yrs-old-song.
