JCeline85 Posted March 13, 2011 at 03:58 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 03:58 PM If the songs that were recorded during 20 years in her english albums have any connection with her, why did she pick them? Is all her english discography an illusion now??? 1) Don't say this is a concert to please her fans, say that this is a concert made for the general public and don't try to sell it as if they were aware of fans reactions because they're not. but the Céline show/concert made for the fans is yet to come (hopefully). It's not this one. I love Céline with all my heart and its my #1 singer ever. But I still know she can do better things to please the majority of fans here, and I will patiently wait for that day in the meantime dude.. She is performing again.. Be happy.. This isn't a tour where is going to please ALL of her fans.. that's impossible to do in Vegas.. and if she did do a show with more songs i'm sure people on here would still find something to complain about. We could either A)have a show where we know we have 3 years to see her or B)have her pack up and move back to florida and never return again.. lets be greatful for what she's giving us Quote The Wait Is Over?
celine81 Posted March 13, 2011 at 04:04 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 04:04 PM I love this preoccupation with listening to fans. Celine is perfectly entitled to choose what and when to perform. She really shouldn't be dictated to be anyone other than herself. Yes, there's the argument that it's the 'fans' that put her there through sales of album, concert tickets, merchandise etc. I understand that of course. However we must accept that Celine the singer is a product that has to sell. It's true that this latest show is different and not to everyone's liking (here anyway). She must be allowed creative freedom as an artist and do what she and Rene and her production team feel is commercially viable and satisfying for her to perform. Commericial viability, and mass appeal in Vegas is not going to be achieved by her doing what's expected. Her performing a full set of her own repertoire would have her deemed as being uninspiring, something she could do on any tour. Plus lets be fair she did that with 'A New Day' along with all the pizzazz that Dragone gave it. She doesn't have to do this, she doesn't have to do anything. We should be grateful that as an artist she is wanting to continue. Don't get me wrong I fully understand the disappoints and frustrations abound on here due to people's wants not being fulfilled. She will be her own critic and I'm sure in her heart she wants us all to be satisfied but how can she..... It's like saying I want to sell bricks to a house builder, yes it would be successful as a business but surely I'd be more successful offering the house builder cement and the tools to build with also. So come on guys, of course vent your frustrations but be gracious and understanding to her and her team also. Paul xx Quote Check out my latest recordings. Recovering, Ashes, The Reason & Immortality
enno2007 Posted March 13, 2011 at 04:07 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 04:07 PM 2) So if this concert is targeted to the casual audience in Vegas, people who are there spending holidays or for another reason NOT especifically to Céline, don't say this is a concert to please her fans, because you're pulling our legs. To be honest, I'm not sure if both René and Céline make this distinction. It appears as if in their eyes a fan = everybody who comes to see the show. I mean, they are obviously aware of the fact that there are different degrees of 'fanitude', but I wouldn't say that they mislead anybody. We could of course argue if their definition of "fan" is a good one, but be it as it is, I believe that they want indeed to satisfy the "fans". Quote

We could either A)have a show where we know we have 3 years to see her or B)have her pack up and move back to florida and never return again.. lets be greatful for what she's giving us Well, actually this privelige is for US' fans, or selected fans in the rest of the world, so, it's not a "gift" she's giving to us... The gift was the TCWT (for most of the fans, although, unfortunately not every fan could achieve a flight or a ticket to see her, even if the concert was near him/her... I guess she needs money to pay the bill of the water spent on the Water park... (sorry, but I've always thought that the water park was an attack to the Climate Change...) or yeah, maybe she needs to be on the business, but pleeaase! This new era is so selective... We could either A)have a show where we know we have 3 years to see her or B)have her pack up and move back to florida and never return again.. lets be greatful for what she's giving us I AM happy and so grateful to see her back in the business! I do even want to see the show and hopefully I will sometime between 2012-2014. It's just that I feel hopeless that the more time she's doing this kind of "old" shows, stuck in the past, the less chances we have to see her performing one day for us the songs we want? I mean she's almost 43, she is young yet, but if she's not singing her uptempo songs and promoting like crazy the songs she has never performed, the same way she's singing like crazy the same songs over and over again, when is she going to do it? When's that time coming? Time is running Don't you realize that she's repeating herself to boredom and they don't even have the slightest attitude to change that? Quote "Hush, now... remykyes Posted March 13, 2011 at 06:31 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 06:31 PM (edited) Is that good or bad? Neither one or the other. We can love this show and I'm sure it will be great, but the Céline show/concert made for the fans is yet to come (hopefully). It's not this one. I think, in my head at least, this show is going to run for 3 years, so if we want Celine to sing anything from her albums whether it be from "One Heart" or "a new day has come" or from her early albums, let's consider this. If she sings what we want her to sing now, she'll be sick of it in 3 years and we probably won't hear it again except for her big hits. If she does all these covers now, there is a very good chance they won't show up in her next world tour. HER songs WILL! That's my line of thinking. Celine is very smart. It doesn't seem like it, but if this proves to be true, that she's saving the best for us, the fans, what an awesome world tour we might have in store for us. OMG the band dies thus amazing intro w a countdown of 90 seconds for her to change! And she makes it! Haha. And she walks out in the black dress holyyyy hot mama and she starts tossing Goldfinger and it's just. .. Whoa haha and Live and Let Die is just amazing w the orchestra! So so good. Quote
Nmj Posted March 13, 2011 at 07:59 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 07:59 PM can you explain these holograms a little more? Quote
I Love You Posted March 13, 2011 at 07:59 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 07:59 PM (edited) Just another thing, I unfortunately can't contain myself I think some of you just don't get the idea of that show: It is supposed to be the opposite of A New Day, and a modern-times continuation of classic music shows like the ones by Sinatra. If you read all those articles which are currently on Canoe, you would see what this show is about, how they wanted it to be classy, how Céline initially wanted it to be in "black and white mood", how much it is centred around music, the orchestra, the voice and so and so forth. Believe me, I wasn't too keen on the setlist myself when I first saw it here (although I felt some people overreacted massively), but with some more information, the whole point of this show from a creative point of view makes sense - and I think it's great. We could have had the Taking Chances show again, as it was initially planned (and hell would have broken loose here), they then wanted a show around Warner movies, and they ended up with "Celine" - I think it goes into the right direction... And finally: It is not a sign of contempt of fans that they don't simply play songs that hardcore fans are expecting. This show has to be viable from a commercial point of view and they need to attract 'regular' spectators. It was already mentioned a few times, but somehow this is forgotten too often. Very well said. I mean she is going back to the Rat pack days, when everything was cool and classy. Lindsey, thank you so much for the updates of the show. ladylindsey Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:05 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:05 PM It seems as if they shortened DOL instrumental and cut I just can't stop loving u and Diamonds are forever to add in the holograms. Not sure if they cut more. It's hard for me to remember. I was kind of sitting in awe! I can't remember every song and the effects for each specifically but the effects were great! The giant chandelier descends from the ceiling. There are lots of screen visuals. The orchestra and band move in and out on stage. Lots of orchestra moving on and offstage. Sometimes distracting. Jean Seb is unbelievable in a violin solo during a quickchange! The audience was stunned! Let's just say he can play the violin realllllly fast! At the beginning the first curtain opens and the Grammy director guy says "welcome back the first lady of the Colosseum- Celine Dion!" and there she is standing in front of a white curtain that is backlit and then that curtain drops very dramatically to gasps from the audience revealing the entire orchestra and it's just unnnnnnbrlievably breathtaking as she sings Open Arms! Tears tears tears! Sry for typos etc I'm on my iPhone again! Quote
ladylindsey Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:13 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:13 PM Holograms - this was the new thing they added! The curtain opens after a quickchange break to reveal Celine. I knew immediately that wasn't her but it reallly reallly looks like Celine and I think the audience was pretty convinced. She starts singing but I have no idea what song it was. It's slow. They show her face on the screens on each side up close. Then after the first verse or so hologram Celine looks out into the audience and real Celine is walking through the aisles! Tirades the stage. I think she was walking between sections 4 and 3 so if you have the aisle seats where those meet you will be right next to her for most of that song! She sings a verse and the Holly Celine sings the next part and Celine starts walking closer to stage. She finally makes it to front and stands there so lucky front row! They harmonize and finish the song then Celine jokes about ow she taught her everything she knows, how Holly Celine always talks too much, how she doesn't know how that man (Rene) puts up with her hahaha. Cute. Then she songs with Stevie Wonder. I don't know which song he is hologram with his piano centerstage and she walks up and stands next to him and sings. Pretty cool pretty realistic! There were also these beams that shot out across the audience during some parts of the show that were kind of holigramy if that makes sense. Light blocks of light. I was sitting in rear orch 5. Great view of everything! Not a bad seat in the house. Quote
A new day... Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:15 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:15 PM I would love to hear Celine sing "Free" with Steevie Wonder!Do you know which song she sang in duet with him? Quote
ladylindsey Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:19 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:19 PM In the MJ medley, she begins with a verse of Ben then talks while Bens music still plays about her love for Michael. She days he came to see her show and they put a spotlight beam on the exact seat he sat in at the back of front orch. She says Hevesy in that seat and when he was there that night she doesn't think she saw anyone else but him in the audience. Then she continues with Ben and the curtain opens slightly as she sings Mam in the Mirror then all the way and the orchestra and singers are sitting in shadowed silhouette snapping fingers and clapping. It's pretty dramatic and very cool. She ends the song with the line "I just can't stop loving you". Quote
ladylindsey Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:22 PM Posted March 13, 2011 at 08:22 PM (edited) Ps. My camera and my iPhone were in my clutch bag and they saw it and didn't even care. Just FYI. So basically don't get caught haha. I also think she sang everything live. Holy crap amazing. I can't even describe it she is so good. And the orchestra is great too! FANS But you know, after this Vegas, there will come another break for sure, so when she's back like in 2016 she'll be 48... Yes still young, but do you think she will make a tour full of uptempo songs and dancing? She should be doing that by now, now that her music and those albums (ANDHC, TC, OH) are still fresh in people's memories. First off, I understand ur concerns. According the recent interview that Darren could do with Mego, he's the first one who seems tired of playing the same songs everytime since decades and is always trying to introduce new Céline songs (he said he missed playing Falling Into You or Can't Fight The Feelin'?). So either Céline or René are the ones who restrain him Mego is in our league (thank God!) Pd. Thanks for your reviews Lindsey! Can you tell us about the WDMHBN moment?
