Hi everyone! After receiving the great news last week from Paul Grein at Yahoo! Music about the digital

sales for "My Heart Will Go On", I asked Paul another question this week about other amazing Celine songs, and he once again was awesome and gave me the answer that I wanted to pass along so here it is:

Greetings. My computer crashed moments after delivering last week's column. The chart action was obviously just too hot for it. But I am back on line with answers to all your questions.

Derek F: Celine's Because You Loved Me (my favorite of hers, for what it's worth) has sold 473K. I Surrender has sold 43K. The Power Of Love has sold 262K.

I was wondering what happened, your so good with answering your fans questions, thank you so much so coming back and answering all of your questions along with mine, wow!, much appreciated! I'm sorry that your computer crashed, I know what that feels like, lol.

It's awesome to see that Celine is close to the 500,000 mark for "Because You Loved Me", that's cool that its your favorite of Celine's! Thank you also for giving last weeks figure for "My Heart Will Go On" which should now be certified for digital gold! Can't wait to read next week's column! God Bless!

Total digital single sales from the info I have got this year so far: 1,599,000 from just four songs!!

Very Cool to see that "Because You Loved Me" has sold about 500,000 copies! Not much more to get it a digital gold certification from Sony Music!

I was surprised to see that the non-single classic "I Surrender" has not sold more, but I think a lot of people that bought the album "A New Day Has Come" which has big sales discovered the song(U.S. sales of around 3.3 million sold!)

So, Sony needs to certify "My Heart Will Go On" digital Gold, and "Because You Loved Me" really soon!

All of us that can, let's help Celine out and buy her songs digitally and get their sales higher and get her more certification awards! God Bless!!

lol i love Celine to death

but i'm not buying another digital copy of MHWGO and BYLM just to make her have more money for buying more pools :sofunny: Celine doenst need my little earned money :cry:

I agree with Lindsay!

We already buy a lot of stuff! If Céline (or her team, or anybody else) wants her sales to be higher and get her more certification awards, she should promote her music properly and make people want to buy her music! Fans already do a lot for her! I already have those songs on CD (and I even buy different versions of her albums/singles)! I will not waste my money just to to get her sales higher!

I agree. She says often that she doesn't really care about the prizez and stuff anymore. Of course, she likes it but it's just not as important as it was when she was starting. She prefers to just sing and do what she loves without worrying about what people think or what award she's going to get.

For 11 songs, she's sold 2.1m digital singles.

She's sold close to 50m worldwide singles, including digital songs!

Hi, everyone, the purpose of this topic was to celebrate Celine's digital sales from some of her biggest

#1 hits, and the non-single classic, and one of Celine's greatest vocal performances ever, I Surrender. I got back great info from Paul Grein at Yahoo! Music and wanted to celebrate it with everyone here!

To lindsey22 and fan2celinedion, If you don't want to buy Celine's songs digitally because you already have them or have an album that has the song, that's fine, and yes, Celine has a lot of money, but that's not even the point. If you don't have a Celine song you love and you purchase it digitally, you help her digital sales totals for her songs. By doing this Celine can be recognized by Sony with new awards, music professionals, and congratulated by her fans!

Many artists have had their biggest hit songs from the past decades like the 80's and 90's certified recently for digital gold, platinum, and multi-platinum for their digital sales. This shows the impact a song has, and the amazing longevity a song can have, like "My Heart Will Go On". In the U.S. this song now has digital sales of more than 821,000 copies sold, a huge total for a hit song from the 90's, and should be certified for digital gold now from Sony!

Yes Celine's bigger joy is to sing of course, but Celine would appreciate knowing that her biggest songs are still big sellers in todays changed music environment, where songs are now bought digitally and older songs can still chart and have ongoing success. I'm sure Celine also appreciates getting any of her awards, including certification awards!

473.000 - Because You Loved Me (till July 11, 2010)

263.217 - Taking Chances (till February 17, 2008; last week on the chart)

262.000 - The Power Of Love (till July 11, 2010)

187.770 - A New Day Has Come (till June 22, 2008)

047.533 - The Prayer (live) (till February 17, 2008; first week on the chart)

043.000 - I Surrender (till July 11, 2010)

012.535 - Alone (=first week sales; till November 18, 2007)

= 2.1m (USA only!).

They will ALL have increased since (obviously the one's we've just been given might still be the same, but the other more outdated ones will have added to their totals)

that's Celine's own fault. she keeps singing the old "hits" at her concerts and ending all her concerts shows with them and keep promoting them on every tv show she does. How can she be known for other hits if she doesn't want to sing them. Example: Look how many brilliant songs were on D'elle but instead she promotes L'amour existe encore and Destin and that annoying duet J'irai où tu iras" :rolleyes:

Yup, I'm waiting her new album with many new songs. She actually has many other great songs but she usually ends every of her show with MHWGO or BYLM. I must confess these are the great good songs of her but there are many others which are good enough to end the show.

I think it's great that she ends the show with MHWGO cos not everyone who goes to her concerts have seen her live and I bet every fan wants to hear MHWGO live for the first time and the same with her older classics. But I also think she should add more of her newer songs.

Totally agree with you! Some might be tired of MHWGO but when u hear it live, there's always something different and special about it! I could listen to Celine sing MHWGO live forever! :wub:

I really think we need to support Celine everytime and everywhere she is!, I have her all CD's, Vinyl and Collector's Edition and adore her to the grave really. But I think it's silly to buy for she can sales higher then, and who really want these items buy then in wholeheartedly not necessarily.

To say that Celine doesn't care about records or achievement is rubbish. Perhaps that may be the case now but during the 80's and 90's, and I'd even argue up to and including the "A New Day Has Come" album Celine and Rene wanted nothing more than to chart highly and sell millions of records.

Remember the quotes from "My Story, My Dream"?? All Celine ever cared about before Rene-Charles was going "higher and farther" and aiming for the peak of success.

The question is though, after number 1 singles and albums worldwide over a period of 25 years, countless sold out tours, a $750m residency success in Las Vegas, singing at the Olympics, the Oscars and being involved in something like "Titanic" just what more is there for her to achieve in music?

I think it's great she's continuing to sing and record just because she wants to.

Derek F: Celine's All The Way album has sold 7,917,000 copies. As for her two songs, I'm Alive has sold 156K. Have You Ever Been In Love has sold 101K.

In just the last year the sales of Celine's All The Way... A Decade Of Song has increased by about 50,000 copies in America! That's great that it keeps on selling and becoming a legendary seller!

Also great to see the sales of "I'm Alive" and "Have You Ever Been In Love", both selling over 100,000

digital copies!!
