Bumble Posted June 27, 2010 at 07:45 PM Posted June 27, 2010 at 07:45 PM Can't quite believe the debate in this thread. It clearly is not Celine. During "A New Day..." you clearly SEE the backing singer singing this part of the introduction and during the tour they've clearly just recorded this for the intro. So many of you are saying you recognize that it's Celine and so on, well honestly i'm beginning to worry about a lot of you because it is not Celine at all. LOLthat pre song part sung by the backup singer during A New Day doesn't sound like celine at all...whereas the acapella part in the menu does.I definitely think it is celine. Peppercorn1991 Posted June 27, 2010 at 07:47 PM Posted June 27, 2010 at 07:47 PM (edited) Look i dont argue unless i am 100% sure, and i am! The same bit is even on the A NEW DAY DVD MENU! Why the hell would you put the backgrounds singers voice on the menu on a CELINE DVD ? I know me and many other members are right on this! Also the menu of A NEW DAY recording matches up perfectly with teh into to MHWGO boston DVD! Edited June 27, 2010 at 07:50 PM by kimankev Quote
fan2celinedion Posted June 27, 2010 at 07:51 PM Posted June 27, 2010 at 07:51 PM OK Thomas, it really really really makes sence to record a background singers voice when you go to see celine doesnt it! You are so wrong barnv is proberly talkign about the bit where mary lou acctully does sing on a new day! which is sang live!the part before My heart will go on! why ask a background singer to record some part in studio when they can ask Celine to do it!Yes, for me Seb68 is absolutely not lying but Barnev is wrong! that pre song part sung by the backup singer during A New Day doesn't sound like celine at all...whereas the acapella part in the menu does.I definitely think it is celine.I agree! It doesn't sound like Marylou! Quote
Claudette Posted June 27, 2010 at 08:07 PM Posted June 27, 2010 at 08:07 PM I'm not sure that the version on the Las Vegas DVD menu is exactly the same. It sounds like they used the part from 0:17 on the Vegas DVD menu. I have to agree with you guys that the version that Mayrlou actually sings in the Vegas show does not even nearly sound the same... rotem Posted June 27, 2010 at 08:17 PM Posted June 27, 2010 at 08:17 PM Just untill right now I was always 100% sure it is not Celine from some reason, but after listening to it now couple of times I am 99% sure it is actually Celine!but i have to say that it's really hard to realize it is Celine... becuse it is very diffrent than what we use to hear from her... Davey84 Posted June 27, 2010 at 08:51 PM Posted June 27, 2010 at 08:51 PM oke I listened to the TCWT again, and too me it's 1001 % Céline!!! especially at 0.37 you can hear clearly that it's céline!! And we know she can do those aaaaaah really high; My Precious One, La Diva... It's just Céline singing airly! I kinda misplaced my AND dvd, so I can't judge the menu, but in the AND show itself, it was Mary Lou, no doubt! But during the intro of the TCWT it's Céline!! However, the other titanic song would be a reference to the this song which figures on the soundtrack of the titanic. Edited June 28, 2010 at 03:04 AM by RockstarCelineDion Quote

Ok, this is how I'm hearing everything....The beginning of the song on the AND DVD is not Celine, however at the end I do believe it is Celine. To me it is obvious that the beginning and the ending on AND are sung by two different people. The end of the AND DVD is the same voice as the intro for the TCWT version, thus discounting Marylou as the singer for the TCWT if she is the singer from the beginning of the AND version. I don't know, I just have to agree with everyone that thinks it is Celine on the TCWT DVD; that is Celine's voice, her tone, her timbre, everything. Quote

ladylindsey Posted June 28, 2010 at 03:32 AM Posted June 28, 2010 at 03:32 AM It's Céline!!!!!!! Anyway, i don't see the point in arguing back and forth- because I can hear her and that is notttttt MariLou to my ears, not at all! I'm only talking about the intro to MHWGO for the Live CDs from Boston and Montreal from the TCWT, bc I'm not gonna go back and look thru AND, etc. So I guess believe what you want to believe, hear what you want to hear, as we always do in anything else. Don't argue But I'm convinced it's Céline. there is no other voice in the world like hers....and if there is, then that person needs to be singing haha. MariLou's voice is so so different. That's my two cents. It's not the singers from Hymn to the Sea, that's just completely different as well. Quote

Claudette Posted June 28, 2010 at 09:03 AM Posted June 28, 2010 at 09:03 AM There is a poll going on in the French section and it is actually 50/50 at this stage. This is the weirdest thing. I've been thinking: maybe we should try to ask Julie Snyder or one of the directors or whatever that actually worked on the DVDs. Wonder if there is a way to ask one of them... Facebook or Twitter? idroveallnight Posted June 28, 2010 at 05:24 PM Posted June 28, 2010 at 05:24 PM That was definitely a pleasant surprise for me. I had no idea it was Celine singing the intro to MHWGO on the TC tour; I always thought it was the same lady from the Titanic soundtrack. Man, she sounds amazing. Quote

Thomas Posted June 28, 2010 at 05:50 PM Posted June 28, 2010 at 05:50 PM So what's the general feeling with what Barnev Valsaint said? Do you think he was lying? Do you think he is confused? Do you think you know better than someone who was actually on the tour? You know, what is the feeling from these people who heard from an official source that it was NOT Celine but then continues to say it is. I'm curious. Quote
ladylindsey Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:11 PM Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:11 PM I think he may be confused about which part was in question, but I don't know what was said exactly to him. So But we can all choose to believe what we want to, and hear what we hear individually I just know I hear Céline. Quote
Claudette Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:14 PM Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:14 PM (edited) I'm saying that if Barnev really did answer this member that it may be possible that he confused it with the fact that MariLou sang it live in Vegas every night (which by the way sounds waaaay different than the version on the TC tour DVD). My instincts say Céline! My goosebumps say Céline! I'm gonna go with that is Céline. Quote
Thomas Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:23 PM Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:23 PM As it happens, I don't really care either way who is singing. It sounds nice, it's performed well, it's a great intro to the song. I do wonder how everyone would have reacted if the news came back from Barnev that it WAS Celine singing? Would people say "oh, but that could be fake" or would they happily accept that they got their answer? I would e-mail Mary Lou myself but I think if the reply came back anything other than people want to hear it would be presumed that I made it up, or Mary Lou was wrong and that day she went into the studio to record it was actually a dream. It's all very interesting! Quote

Thomas Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:41 PM Posted June 28, 2010 at 06:41 PM I'm not saying it is, Claudette. What I am saying is, where do you draw the line? I could e-mail Mary Lou, Elise, Mego, every dancer and technician that's ever worked on the tour...but I could be making it up. I could write a letter from Celine herself, but who would believe it? I mean even now there are people saying "well it could be Mary Lou but it was dubbed by Celine after the tour ended". So even if Mary Lou posted an article on her website talking about the day she recorded it for the tour, people would doubt her. It seems all one sided, like nothing anyone would ever say would be enough for the fans saying "it is definitely Celine". You would need Celine herself to go on TV or whatever and say "I did / did not record that intro" and that is never going to happen. So I guess I will enjoy my CD thinking it is Mary Lou and you will enjoy your CD thinking it is Celine, because this can never be proved either way. What I was taking issue with is that people were saying "this is Celine, I know it for sure". Umm, no you don't. There is nothing in the credits saying "MHWGO intro performed by Celine Dion" just as there was nothing saying it was recorded by Mary Lou, or Elise. All everyone was doing was forming an opinion with the information that was there at the time, and it was basically just some humming sounds, so not exactly good vocals to work from. Which is why I was annoyed with those comments calling people who couldn't hear Celine stupid, or saying they weren't fans. There's polls going on in the French section where people are torn either way, so it's not the incredibly obvious Celine vocal people are claiming there is. Over half the people in the topic hear someone other than Celine. There still is no proof either way, there almost certainly never will be. So when no one has evidence either way, no one has the right to call anyone names or question how much of a fan they are. Quote
