What Kind of Album Do You Want?

I want another album like FIY and LTAL. Plenty of powerful ballads to show Celine still has it, but with uptempo/pop songs too.

I voted Pop/Dance songs like OH and ANDHC.

 

I think TC was FULL of ballads (A song for you, a world to believe in, TC, Surprise Surprise, right next to the right one, the reason i go on,) it did chart poorly on the charts.

 

The only up-tempo song was the meaningless Shadow of love and the ear-bleeding Eyes on me.

 

So, she should do pop songs that are CURRENT not that we could have listened to them like from 2003/2002 aka Eyes on Me (she could have recorded it in 2003 and it would have sounded better because she had a sweet voice back then and it would have worked). and they should be BEAUTIFUL and no high vocals just dance/pop songs.

I want (of those categories) ballads. Something like Falling into You. However, I would much rather like a slightly synth-pop album. Not electronica at all, just a bit less guitar and more synth melodies. I think Celine would have fit perfectly in the song "Empire State of Mind" for example. "Runaway" by Darin is a great synth-melody, that's what I want, or sort of a Lady Gaga style as well. I think she would pull it off if she gave it a shot.

Taking Chances did NOT chart "poorly". It sold 3.5 million copies worldwide, which is a GREAT number these days, especially considering the fact that NONE of the singles really did much chart-wise (and there was only really one single with a video and proper release). Celine's days of selling 10 million + are over, plain and simple. Hardly anyone sells that much these days.

 

3.5 million copies sold of TC is a testement to Celine's selling power, consider this:

 

Hard Candy (Madonna's latest) sold 3.5 with two hit singles and a huge tour

Circus (Britney's latest) sold almost 3.5 with four BIG singles and a huge tour

Mariah's 2008 album E-MC2 barely sold 2.5 million copies, and it had four singles and was the follow-up to her last album that sold like 10 million

Mariah's 2009 album has barely cracked 1 million copies, despite a US tour, hit single and FOUR more singles (all with videos and promo)

 

To me, this shows how much of a success the TC album was sales-wise.

Id love a dance album. The only Celine song I have ever heard clubbing is I Drove All Night and I loved it. I club like every weekend so to hear something else from a new album would be amazing. (I lie I have heard Because You Love Me as well, a remix of it)

 

Or a similar album to Taking Chances with all the variations of styles on it but to actually take chances in the single releases. A song like Fade Away. So many missed opportunities.

Songs similar to A New Day Has Come - such as Prayer, A New Day Has Come, I Surrender, The Greatest Reward, etc. Also, with jazz influences.

 

What Taking Chances lacked was her tone. Her tone is everything - like how she sounds in songs like The Reason. Just a pretty tone. Not harsh like with most songs on Taking Chances.

I´d like Dance/Pop album with modern sound and some great producers, I think her great voice + modern dance sound = MUST BE BIG HIT, and it would be amaizing if Céline tops charts (single and radio charts) again after years.

Powerfull ballads would be also good, but I think that now is time for dance album.

These songs require not only exceptional vocal ability and style, but the widest range of emotional expression as well. Celine is the one of the very few singers today who has the talent to pull this off. In my opinion, she ranks with the greatest singers, people like Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Garland, and Clooney. A recording of these songs would not only bring something new to this repertoire; it would also serve as a wonderful illustration of Celine's fabulous and timeless talent.

You are talking about physical sales. Did you know that these artists you mentioned have million-selling digital songs in the USA? The physical albums market keeps falling while the digital songs market is soaring. Celine is not a good digital seller. "Taking Chances" sold less than 400,000 downloads when the album was charting while it's not that difficult for a song to reach 1 million downloads nowadays.

Why release an album with Pop/Dance music if she won't perform them live? Will they release them as singles? They will be unknown to anyone who doesn't buy the album. We've seen that before... Sorry For Love, Reveal... The best thing, in my opinion, is an orchestra album. Maybe a mix of ballads and jazz songs.
