Celine Dion | Pop superstar"Avatar" | "I thought it was incredible. What a message, of having the connection from the people to these creatures to nature. It shows how strong we can be, but also how much we're missing about communing with our surroundings because we're too busy looking for the gold."

Great, love how well celine portrays her feelings with things. somethings she comes out with makes me go WHAT! and laugh but somethings are just amazing and she is right......everyone is more bothered with looking for gold! :w00t:

Yeah.... Not to pick on her, but she should practice what she preaches, so to say.... I mean, being outdoor to her means only shopping, golfing, or being on a beach someplace and she's wearing real fur and stuff... So unlike the message of the movie.

Not that I'm any different, so I'm really not criticizing her here... I'm a city girl myself. Unfortunately, can't aford something like golf and I hate fur, real of fake. But, since that is what touched her most in the movie.... get my point?

 I have to admit, when I read that I was like: WHAT? But I haven't seen the whole movie yet, so... I realize more and more that Celine definitely feels things way deeper than us. Maybe it is because she is so emotional...

I think Avatar is a horrible movie, but we are different :D

I loved the graphic side of it. It's beautifully shot and done. But the story has been done to death, the dialogue was as stupid as it can get and the acting was bad. Still, I have to admit I had to remember to close my mouth, I saw it at IMAX and it looked simply amazing! Few movies have it all, this one have one mindblowing visual aspect to it. And Celine was right: that communication with nature was the most interesting part of the story, but it was really underused. Too bad they focused on all those silly explosions, and so little on the spiritual side of the Na'vi, cause that was the most interesting thing, in my opinion. Edited by Teodora

Oh come on. When has she ever said that? That's when we see the paparazzi pics of her, yeah, but to say what I put in bold is just.. Holy effing christ, cannot believe I just read that...

And wouldn't she have to have 2 tents??? One for her etc and one for her bodyguards!!! Its not like she'd be left alone is it?!!!! She can't be a completely normal person - joe public won't let her. Even when she retires completely she still won't be. Thats celebrity for you.

But she plants her own tomatoes

I have had no desire to watch this film, but now I might just have to so I can see what all the fuss is all about.

Don't understand why you take it so personally. And like I said before, I wasn't criticizing her, I was just saying it seems weird she'd go all green on us all of the sudden.

I think it's worth seing for nothing else but for the visuals, they're about the best I've seen. And the world imagined by Cameron and his team, Pandora, is very neat. A lot of detail and attention, great imagination. I'd definately give it the Oscar for all the technical parts, but not for best movie.

Don't worry, I haven't watched it either. People say that the visuals are brilliant, but the story is stupid. They say that it is ''Pocahontas'' all over again, but with weird looking creatures...

Sorry. I'm not gonna see a film just for the visuals. I need a good story.

So how does Celine see these movies?

She doesn't go to the cinema does she?

Or do celebs get them in advance or something?

She can easily book a cinema VIP hall play it for her and her family only.

oh yay, I loved Avatar, the story and the graphics.

I've seen all the Oscar nominated movies that are up for best picture and I really hate some of the storylines in the movies that are nominated

So Avatar- totally rooting for that :)

Well, I've seen it three times, and I can tell you that the people who said it was "Pocahontas" or "Dancing with Smurfs" are either blind and deaf or are so against the film that they create stupid analogies just to cover up their bias. I can understand if peple are not science fiction fans or do not like Cameron's other action/sci fi film's (The Terminator, T2, True Lies) but you cannot deny that Avatar resonates with people other than action/sci fi fans. Otherwise, it wouldn't have racked up $2.55 billion worldwide and overwhelming received critical acclaim. The same can be said for the people who whined that the only reason why Titanic made $1.84 billion worldwide was because of young girls going to see Leo over and over again. That is so utterly and pathetically false, it's laughable. Also, I would not be surprised for it to win BP tomorrow at the Oscars. The LA Times, NYT, and other sources are betting on it, as well.

I hate the way people say ''she doesn't go to the cinema'' and ''how does she see it''- my God. The woman can get in the car and go to the cinema. Just cos we don't know about it. Of course they go t the movies

Well :hmm: listen to this interview :

Céline answering Wayne Brady's question around 7:03 min. : "No, but I never go to the movie theaters anyway".

In Québec, when she was in her teens I remember Céline saying she went a couple of times with one of her brother's wife...and they would disguise themselves :giggle: but she never had much hobbys anyways, as she was always working and getting recognize everywhere she went.

Maybe she does go now but it would be pretty much new for her if she does...I also think she goes to special VIP screening for her and family....and/or mostly watch movies on DVDs at home.

doesn't this speak for itself?

She, Celine herself, also is too busy :flowers:

but hey, she has always a place in the first row at any benefit single or event that's dated, so treat her words with respect

but for ME, the absolute winner for the oscar should be:

The Bright Side (Best Screen Play)

Sandra Bullock (Best Actress in a leading role)

I loved Avatar! I'm assuming she would see it because of James cameron. We saw it in 3D, which was the only way to see it!

Red dragon thing was AMAZING. I wanted it from the first minute I saw it. I leaned over and said, "I want to fly THAT one."
