how can you say a maria callas movie sounds like "crap" dont you have any artistry in you

Sure, I have artistry in me. I also have tastes...everyone does, right?
I just really, really despise opera music. I don't care about Maria Callas. I like CELINE, and Celine's music. If she does this movie, we're going to be hearing about Maria and opera for a very long, long time. I can't even listen to La Diva, I hate it so bad. I feel guilty for saying it, but I'm being honest.

Plus I think that most biopics turn out to be bad quality, low budget things that get ripped apart by critics and eventually end up airing only on some cable channel nobody ever watches.

And as far as I can remember, this is the first time I've ever been negative about something Celine wanted to do.
I don't like opera either and I really wouldn't want to watch a movie about an opera singer. I don't know that I would watch even if Celine played Maria Callas It's just not my type of thing or type of music....I agree I like Celine's music, Maria Callas's music who knows probably not since I don't like opera, I know nothing about Maria Callas and honest to god I'd never heard of her till she was mentioned in a topic on the forum awhile back.

Are you guys in love with the Queen Elizabeth, her life, her story, her work? I don't think. Me neither, I actually don't care about her, and i would never curtsey to her if some asked me to, she can go suck an egg! Although, I loved the watch the movie The Queen! They did something great with it. Maria Callas lived some drama, they will obviously exploit that in the movie; it wont be a documentary about Callas' voice.

And if Celine gets to play the role, she will obvisouly sing!!!! :w00t: IMO, it will be awesome to hear her sing another genre other than pop and ballades. She will get to show her skills!! Come on people, we are not talking about a whole CD, its just a movie. And you all heard La Diva, she can imitate Callas perfectly!!! :clap:

And to Javito: I guess your saying you can't stand me..., but i'm not praising everything that Celine does either. I actually said you can critic all of her work if you want. People and Celine have to deal with it. I'm just saying not to say "She's not able to do this, she can't do that. She's not capable of doing such thing. blablabla " Aaaaanyway

What does me not liking Opera music have to do with the Queen? Real or movie Queen. I did see the movie and it just made me dislike the royal family even more for how they treated Princess Diana but I'm getting off topic here. I'm just saying I probably wouldn't watch a movie about an Opera singer because its not the type of music I like regardless of who sings it.

Noouuu not at all. That was not addressed to anyone in particular , is just a comment to support those who -like me- don't agree every step Céline is taking to do her projects and are enough brave to say it without concealments, as happens in this case (you know, being engaged to a contract in Las Vegas for the next three years is NOT the best way to prepare the role for a movie, even if she is doing "only" 70 shows per year :rolleyes: ).

There are some people that whatever Céline does they are always totally happy with it, even if they know those things can actually ruin her career and/or they don't like them really:

"I'm going back to Las Vegas again and I will ruin my next 3 albums" YEAAHHHH :w00t: :clap:

"I'm going to record Miracle vol.2 and the world is going to pay 0 attention to me!" YEAAHHHH :w00t: :clap:

But I DO love this project and I can't wait for an official confirmation of Céline taking this role, despite opera is not my cup of tea. But I am very interested, really! :flowers:

If they eventually do this movie, I don't think they are going to concentrate on Callas voice or her skills to sing, but on her life in general . Kind of a biopic. A movie only concentrating in showing Céline (or whatever actress) singing all the time would be sooo boring and wouldn't appeal to many. They will tell her story and her drama, and I imagine they will want to show her singing from time to time, but maybe only a few scenes.

Just my two cents anyway! :flowers:

Belle Celine, there's no need to be kind of rude or negative. pyb was only trying to make a point. i mean come on , no need to trash Celine's decision so much. if she wants to do opera she will do it with the full support of her fans. dont put her down for trying something artistic. i've waited for YEARS literally, after she came back and after ANDHC album i was dreading the 5 year engagement with Las Vegas. Now thats over she is going to go back for another 3 years. dont you think it would be nice to see her acting in a movie role, any type of role for that matter. even if its not universally appealing role to the droves of masses of the general public. :rolleyes:

I hope that Céline is able to do a movie, as she had wanted that for so many years now. She was already dreaming of this in her early 20's. This movie or another one would be good but I think this one would be great for her. Callas was bigger than life and her life story is amazing. Céline always felt a strong connection with this woman's life for so many years, eventhough Céline lived her success and family life in a much different manner and context. Callas didn't feel her mother ever loved her and Céline was always surrounded with love. I've heard many people over the years say that Céline was a happy woman of course but had also a lot of dramatics in her that they wished she could show more in future project. And I think a movie is really the place where she could show this side of her the best. We all know how Céline can display so easily various emotions. She was great in Les Fleurs sur la Neige I thought. As the professional we all know she is, she will get coaching from other professionals before she enters into this project or any other movie project. I know director Denise Filliatrault, who is a well-known "metteur en scène" here was suppose to coach Céline, giving her acting classes for one. Filliatrault has done for theater once "Les leçons de Maria Callas" which was very much praised. I know René will surround Céline with no one but the best in the biz for this. That's also why Nagano seems to be part of this too. I know Céline had many many movie offers through the years but I knew they wouldn't do a movie, any movie, just for Céline being able to star in one. They were waiting for the right project, the right timing in her carreer and I think this time has come imo.

I mostly appreciate reading any opinion on Céline's carreer, I also love fans humoristic ways to post comments most of the time but I don't appreciate when one has to make fun of her or her carreer choices to get their opinion across. I'm a fan, I appreciate some things more than others but I don't feel this need of being part of Céline's management team and I don't have particular expectations from Céline, except for her to share with us what she wants to accomplish in her carreer. If I don't feel the same as her on carreer choices she makes, I don't go or I don't buy it. That's how I feel about it but everyone is intittle to feel otherwise of course.

I know that when Céline chooses to do a movie(or enter any other projects), this one or another, it's because she will feel she really wants strongly to do that one at this point and time and that she will have taken every step available to get ready to do it right and give it her best shot whishing it will please her fans the same way it pleases her to do it.

Callas's life story was so opposite to her carreer, as the carreer was legendary and her life story so dramatic and sad. I feel the same as some of you as far has this Callas movie being a great artistic choice for Céline. Go Céline! whenever she feels this is the right time and project. I know she can do it, she will do it well and that she will be great :thumbsup2:

I'd like to see Celine in a movie actually, I'd like to see her getting Oscar, but don't know if she can do this or maybe she can fail the role and become a worldwide joke as someone in forume said. But we can't know anything for sure before it happens.

But I will be very sad if the movie plans will fail just because of Vegas, cause I agree that "Vegas ruins everything in her career" :cry:

well when did this meeting happen? If this meeting occured during the TCWT, it still could have been for the movie... but in the run of 2010, I think Céline decided to go for her family and Vegas and pulled out of the movie project.

Aw shag it anyway, that's disappointing, if not entirely unexpected. Celine could have been amazing in this movie, but you could see that the timing was not right. Not sure what role Celine could take on now that her two favourite subjects are gone (Piaf & Callas)

Callas did seem tailor made for her. I do hope that we see her in a musical someday, maybe Les Mis or Sunset Boulevard?
