Celine has been talking about this role a lot lately. It would be exciting to see her play the role, and get an Oscar!!!

I also read on IMDb from a member that Jack Nicholson could be directing.

There are already two or three topics for this. In fact, we were just talking about it in another topic. They mention it again in the latest article about Celine in ''7' Jours'' magazine. 2011 means that they have still 22 months to release the movie and Celine starts performing in 12 months for only 70 shows/ year. Which means she has another 280 days/year to be able to play a leading role.

 

I think she has time

true i think there is another topic out there but those were just rumors and celine thinking about playing the role, but now we officially know that there will be the Callas movie released in 2011

Guys Celine will do about 70 or less shows in a year, so she will have plenty of time for other projects. I don't think she will just stay at home every day while RC is in school. I don't see Celine as that type of person. We all know Celine will never be able to sit still... According to ''7' Jours Magazine'', Celine and Rene did see some people about this and they are working on it. Celine still wants to do it according to the article...

I hope the movie will focus on 1 specific thing from Maria Callas' life. A little bit like "The Queen" played by Helen Mirren (who btw won the oscar). It was only about how she reacted to Diana's death.

 

I think its better to focus on one thing... if Celine gets to play her whole life, i think she will be lost in it, because 2 hours is not long enough to go deep into a character through out 54 years (age of Callas when she died). Hope i expressed myself clearly loll

I would like to see Celine in such a role, but I am worried about how cruel people could be by criticizing her acting.

 

I believe that Callas is a great character and people will presure Celine a lot. I think they won't be kind to her even though she doesn't have that much experience in acting.

 

But, I'm pretty sure I would like to see Celine in that project.

Acting classes baby here comes Celine! Maybe they will do the movie on break from vegas, so 70 shows a year, but they haven't announced the rest of the dates at all, shooting a movie only takes a few months depending on the production you never know.

Why would Celine keep talking about it if Mendes is sure to get the role??

Nothing is confirmed, and as we all know when Celine talks publicly about something (over and over) its because its going to happen. René will make it work!

Maybe its going to be a battle between Eva Vs Celine, but i know Celine will win!!!

Celine said she could sing while pregnant at Vegas. With 31 muscians on stage, I doubt she will be jumping around on the stage.

Why I'm so much afraid that she will spend the major part of those 280 days with her family?

 

She will only do 70 shows a year, yes, but let's see how many more things she will eventually do after performing her shows She was in Las Vegas in the past for five years and released 7 albums during her adventure there, but barely performed any of them with the exception of the TV specials she did (for D'elles and TC). Why she would do it now?

 

Las Vegas is ruining everything in her career.

Celine is not a Bet Midler, a Cher or a Tony Braxton. She's not in Vegas to end her career slowly by slowly. She's only there for stability! She says 70 shows/ year to be at home with the kid(s) the rest of the time. I think thats partly true. It makes her look better to say such things. But the woman still has some claws! Like somebody said, she just can't seat still, since she's 12 that she can't!

70 shows/year so that she can work on other projects, it makes sense!! Project like movies!!!

We shouldn't worry about that. Nothing is confirmed. I've also read some rumors that it will be C. Zeta-Jones, then that P. Cruz... and somebody else. Let's hope that this role will be given to Celine. Actually she is the only person among all these ladies who has everything what needed to act in this movie. She is popular (and a BIG name is quite important in such films). She is a singer, who is able to sing opera (but of course really needs to practice for a while!). We already know how amazing she looks as Callas (---> stylization by K. Lagerfeld) so there would be no problem with her new look. I'm sure she would act well: being moved by Callas life, she would surely put all her heart and soul in the role We know she can. The question is if the producers know these all "details" too?!

 

I would love her to act in the movie. Fingers crossed!
