Scramasboy Posted January 13, 2010 at 08:31 AM Posted January 13, 2010 at 08:31 AM (edited) Celine is more successful worldwide than she is in the USA, but of course she is very successful in the US as well . Garth Brooks is an extremely succesful country musician. Prince Whiskers Posted January 13, 2010 at 10:41 AM Posted January 13, 2010 at 10:41 AM Celine would've most probably remained at #3 if she had no Vegas distractions. Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
stevo Posted January 13, 2010 at 11:01 AM Posted January 13, 2010 at 11:01 AM Can't believe people don't know who Garth Brooks is - there are probably many kids in their early teens who have never heard of Celine. sad. But this is an awesome achievement Quote

Leo Posted January 13, 2010 at 06:04 PM Posted January 13, 2010 at 06:04 PM Way to go Celine!!! After 2010 with her new documentary movie, tour dvd release, and her upcoming album we will make her #1!!! Thanks for sharing..... Congrats Celine! J'adore Celine! It is impossible. She has to sell 18 million copies to overtake Garth Brooks. Hardly anyone can sell over 2 million albums in the USA nowadays. Remember how TC struggled to reach 1 million. She will be at #5 for a long time since there is a 10 million gap between #5 and #6. But FIY will soon fall to #11 or #12 because it has barely sold 4,000 copies last year while "Legend" by Bob Marley & The Wailers and "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones are good catalog sellers and both crossed the 10 million mark some time ago. Moleque20 Posted January 13, 2010 at 07:42 PM Posted January 13, 2010 at 07:42 PM Country music has HUGE fanbases. For a r'n'b singer it is hard to have a multiplatinum album, but for a country singer, it's ...piece of cake. Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.

Shaun Posted January 14, 2010 at 01:52 AM Posted January 14, 2010 at 01:52 AM (edited) When you think about all the attention and success the "Let's Talk About Love" album had purely down to the inclusion of "My Heart Will Go On" on it and it's tie to the Titanic movie, the fact that "Falling Into You" has outsold it makes you realise just how successful "Falling Into You" actually was. But as a registered Wikipedia contributor, I would advise against utilizing their resources too much. FYI, a lot of information there is innacurate and unreputable. I think in a matter of months, FIY is gonna drop to #11 and then in about a year to #12 cos the ML collection killed the sales of this album I think in a few years she could be ahead Mariah Oh yes cos she's gonna sell truckloads of her next release Sorry, it ain't happening anytime soon. i always thought LTAL had sold more than FIY No, Falling into You has been certified 11x Platinum by the RIAA (but should be 12x Platinum) and Let's Talk About Love has been certified 10x Platinum (but should be 11x Platinum). Also, FIY has sold more, annually than LTAL. Umm.. why should it when it has sold only 10,781,000 which makes it eligible for 11x platinum and LTAL has sold only around 9,320,000 copies as per soundscan? In here, we are talking about the SoundScan sales and not about the RIAA certifications cos RIAA uses shipments and not sales for the certifications unlike SoundScan which uses point-sales for its numbers. EDIT: Also the club sales are not around 2 million but only 987k for the data that we have. Edited January 14, 2010 at 07:37 PM by dj4celine Quote
