Which songs should Celine cover?

Welll...I agree Celine has done many, many covers and that maybe we should be hearing some original songs. However....there are some songs I'd like to hear her interpret, like...

Whitney's "I Have Nothing"

Jack Jones' "Isn't It Romantic"

Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York"

Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen"

The Jets' "You Got It All"

Gloria Estefan's "Anything For You"

Mariah/Whitney duet "When You Believe" (sung solo)

The Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody"

Patsy Cline's "Crazy"

Those are some examples, but there are a few others. I just have to think of them. LOL

Joel stole the one I was thinking (I Hope You Dance) so I came up with another.

Wouldn't she sound great singing Sarah McLochlan's "Angel"?

How about Lara Fabian's "I will Love Again"? Many would agree they sound a lot a like, so imagine how great that song would be if Celine sang it.

I'm sure I'll think of more later on.

O WAIT! What about Cher's "Believe"?

I don't believe she should sing such commercial songs as Shania Twain, everybody already knows that Celine is better than Shania and Faith Hill....

I believe she should sing the classics of Frank Sinatra, and Peggy Lee, like she is doing know... it suits her better, and if you're able to sing that kind of songs from the greatest musicians ever, then why not?

Everyone can cover Shania and Britney.....

For me there are thousands of songs I'd love to listen to sung by Celine, but actually there are 3 I'd simply go mad if she recorded them and they are:

I Guess I Loved You - Lara Fabian

You're Still Here - Faith Hill

What If - Kate Winslet

These songs are amazing and sung by her would be heaven to me!

It just suits her better!

I understand what your saying. But I was thinking of this song because of the lyrics. It's a really possotive song when you listen to the words.

Of course Celine would put her little own "twist" on it, and maybe bring it down a bit (if you get what I mean).

I don't agree... we like the songs and sing them and vibrate with them, the important is the melody, the lyrics and the VOICE. Why call them comercil and make it sound like they're not good when we spend all day singing and dancing to it? I mean those are great songs... but it was their time... her time is now, different... 40 years later she has to mark her own path with her own sound and let's say, from ballads to up-tempo even a bit rocker... she has done quite almost everything!!! She never tried hard or trash and I really wouldn't like it, but if she did... fine, it's a sound from her time. and comercial, they all are, they all sell in records... so what's that comercial?

And about Shania Twain, maybe it's not that easy... she has some monocordic voice like Lara has, but very strong and that you can't deny... and she gives her songs some great sounds. If Celine recorded From This Moment or You've Got A Way, I'm sure she'd make wonderfull tracks, but never as emotional as Shania's. But notice, this all is just my opinion!

Shania's not my favorite, but she's not horrible either. She has a few good tracks! And I agree with Didasdion. Celine may not be able to sing "From This Moment On" and make someone emosional. But Shania may not be able to sing MHWGO, and bring a tear to your eye. They all have their one special hit!

Let's not all forget that every song, no matter how old, was once a "contemporary" song. After time, a song takes on a few years, and it's then labled as an "old" song. They all have talent.

And yes, why can't Celine sing a Shania Twain or Faith Hill song, or anyone's song for that matter? After all, we have those same tracks on repeat all day, singing out loud to them! So saying that you listen to a song, but someone else shouldn't sing it is being a little judgemental. Don't you think? Or maybe even being a little stereotype! - People are labling each song by who sings it! :huh:

But again, this is only my opinion, and shouldn't affect your thoughts, feelings, and opinions. :flowers:

That's exactly it... and by the way... you just get on the list I thought you would leave your heart with me, by portuguese singer Rita Guerra... it's an amazing song, if you want I can put it here so you can download and let me know what you think if Celine should or not cover it!

Celine and her family used to play lots of great music at their basement in Charlemange...Jimmy Hendrix, the Carpenters, CRR, Janis Joplin, the Doors..etc...So of course I'd love to hear Celine singing those songs :clap:

Whatecer she covers it always sounds so well!.. :rolleyes: But still here are some songs I think Celine should cover:

Toni Braxton: How Could An Angel Break My Heart, Un-break my heart.

Lara Fabian: Puisque c'est l'amour, Love by grace, Adagio, Je T'aime, Bridge of hope... Any song of Lara would fit with Celine's voice well, I think. I like Lara very much. :blushing:

Sting: A Thousand Years, Book of my life, Fileds of gold... I wish Celine & Sting recorded a song together one day! Sting is my fav male artist. He's genious and I absolutely love him.

Kate Winslet: What If.

By the way, Toni Braxton's voice is so beautiful! :w00t: Though Celine is the best... :rolleyes:

I'd love hear céline singing "Dreams of candlelight" from Beethoven's last night.
