stevethefan Posted September 11, 2005 at 04:56 AM Posted September 11, 2005 at 04:56 AM I'd like to hear her cover Lynrd Skynrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" or Billy Idol's "White Wedding", or anything from the Clash. JUST KIDDING!!! Although I have to admit it would defintely sound different! Alot of the songs people have mentioned would be good although I'd like to hear more original songs written by some good writers. She's had some good writers in the past. If you ever read the liner notes for the CD's you'll see some interestingwriters. One of them that suprised me was that a co-writer of "A New Day Has Come" was a guy named Aldo Nova. I'm old enough to remember this guy having a hit in the early eighties with a kind of heavy metal like song. I think I read he's from Montreal. Another writer for one of her songs was Darryl Hall of Hall and Oates. I'm sure she will put out more albums in the future so it will be exciting to finally hear what she will choose. Krys Posted September 11, 2005 at 06:14 AM Posted September 11, 2005 at 06:14 AM Don't you know that she sang the phone book already ? In the french show called Céline Dion à tout prix I love this show <{POST_SNAPBACK}>in which part? maybe cause I don't understand French, so when she sang phone book, I thought it's a pretty good song. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Haha well what part, I don't remember... I'll have to check and tell you !! Not very hard, it's when Julie Snyder comes to give her an other award. At some point she says "I read something about you a few days ago... it said that you're such a great singer that you could sing the phone book !!" it was probably written by someone who doesn't like Celine, cause it was supposed to "hurt" her lol. So Julie said "ok well let's check !!" so she brought a phone book to Céline, and she started to sing it well done !!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> but of course Celine can sing anything at all Quote

SimplyCeline Posted September 12, 2005 at 09:40 PM Posted September 12, 2005 at 09:40 PM Im not at all against covers, but i think Celine should steer clear of songs that are synonimous with other singers. Like I will always love you is Whitneys song more than it is Dollys - so to hear Celine sing it would be strange. Similarly with Shania's From this moment, Bonnie Tylers total Eclipse of the heart..etc... Would love to hear her sing Amazing Grace too, and also I believe and you'll never walk alone Andrew Quote
streep101 Posted March 17, 2006 at 05:49 PM Posted March 17, 2006 at 05:49 PM I've read in other sections about the brainstorming ideas for Celine's next English album, and what people would like to hear. I'm curious to know, however, what cover songs she will sing (we know she's bound to sing a couple...every album has a few). I'm interested to know if we can think of some great songs by other artists that Celine would sound fantastic on. Any ideas? Also, wouldn't it be fantastic if Celine would collaborate with songwriters that are current, or rather, popular songwriters that you would NEVER expect. For example, I heard a rumor that she might collabrate with Coldplay (probably not likely, but wouldn't it be great?). Besides a few unlikely cover songs, my ideal album would be a blend of a-typical ballads and upbeat songs, by songwriters who write for singers like Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, or John Legend (for example). Afterall, music has changed so drastically since Celine had a huge hit. Would "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" even make today's top 10? I love that style, but different would be better. Quote
alextrusca Posted March 18, 2006 at 06:43 AM Posted March 18, 2006 at 06:43 AM Yes, I totally agree with you...I think every Celine fan loves "Where does my heart beat now" or "The power of love", but in these days, these kinda love ballads wouldn't make it in the Top 10.For example, "Miracle" was a slow album, with some good songs, but it dropped very quickly from Top 10...Something new and maybe shocking would improve Celine's success right now.Maybe a collaboration with Elton John or with Coldplay, or a new style of music, I personally loved "Love is all we need".But in order for the album to have success, some promotion would be required, don't you think so? Krys Posted March 18, 2006 at 07:13 AM Posted March 18, 2006 at 07:13 AM Celine could cover Your Song from the Moulin Rouge OST i just love that song. Quote
azlan Posted March 18, 2006 at 08:48 AM Posted March 18, 2006 at 08:48 AM Celine should cover Woman In Love. I love this song by Barbra Streisand and always imagine how the song will sound if Celine covered it. Quote
Guest Reuben Posted March 18, 2006 at 09:09 AM Posted March 18, 2006 at 09:09 AM Celine shouldnt cover any song! I want new songs! And the Coldplay thing. Chris Martin said something that Coldplay shouldnt restrict their music and that he would even be willing to record a song with Celine. Never that they would.I have to admit that it would be cool though Quote

mangust Posted March 18, 2006 at 10:55 PM Posted March 18, 2006 at 10:55 PM "It feels like the first time" (Beverley Craven). supayen Posted March 19, 2006 at 03:42 PM Posted March 19, 2006 at 03:42 PM "Autumn Leaves" by Duke Ellington. The lyrics are a mix of French and English so I think that'd be vey appropriate for Celine. Quote
Pureceline Posted March 20, 2006 at 08:10 AM Posted March 20, 2006 at 08:10 AM Céline should sing her own songs, not songs from other artist who put there name on it. This song has some resemblance to "With This Tear" and I love it!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}>"Canção do Mar" is the original song of Harem by Sarah Brightman, right?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Canção do Mar" was first recorded by the Portuguese diva Amália Rodrigues with the title "Barco Negro". In the early 1990's Dulce Pontes made a cover of that song and changed the lyrics and title to "Canção do Mar". This song reached Hollywood, in the film “Primal Fear”, starring Richard Gere ... included the track four times in the soundtrack of the movie. A few years ago, Sarah Brightman covered this Dulce Pontes's version of the song, and titled it "Harem". So, you'r right Bellamy Quote My Webpage >>> TRIBUTE TO CELINE DION
