this album brings back a lot of good memories. this is the very first Celine Dion album that i bought on CD with my own money. it was released when i was 13.

i can still remember the very 1st time i watched her TTWII video on MTV! i fell in love with the song and immediately asked my mom to buy me the cassette. and she did!

now about the questions...

When you purchased it...

- December 11, 1999

Where did you buy it...

- Radio City

What you were doing at that time...

- i was a high school freshman when it came out. so obviously i'm studying. :P

What are your favorite songs, both the old and new ones...

- The Power of Love, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, Immortality, Because You Loved Me, Be the Man.

about the new songs, i really can't choose! i love them all! :D

When or where did you first listened the first single, "That's The Way It Is"...

- i saw the video first before i heard it on radio.

Did you buy the matching DVD collection for this album?...

- i did. as a hardcore fan, this is a RESPONSIBILITY.

What is your favourite videoclip and why...

- That's the Way It Is. definitely. Celine looked gorgeous in that video and i can tell she's having fun doing the video.

here's my 10 year old All the Way cd...

despite of the age of this cd, it amazes me that it still works perfectly fine! :)

Talking about ATW and all, I remember of seeing a video by VH1 once, that showed Celine recording TTWII Music Video! She looked AMAZING! There's a scene where she is coming to the scenery with a dark glass and she looks like a Rock Star! I've never seen that again! Someone have that??????

10 years? it seems like yesterday...i still remember when i first saw the video of Live for the one i love....i really like it, well it was my first and last moment to see that video played by MTV.

I can't believe it's been 10 years! Can't believe it's been almost 12 years that I'm a fan either.. Time runs fast!! (That's what I've been thinking about all the time this fall. )

Anyway, about the album, I remember I absolutely loved That's The Way It Is, when it first came out, and it's still one of my favourite good mood songs. ^_^ And I remember about the video, that I adored Céline's look and outfit on the video, and later I bought myself pants that looked like the ones Céline was wearing, and I wore them with black t-shirt, so I felt like I had the same outfit!

About the fall 1999 in general, I remember that I was a little disappointed when I heard that Céline was going to have a break, cause I had just begun to really adore her, and then she goes away.. But it gave me time to collect all her previous albums, and in the end it went fast.

When you purchased it...

In the fall 1999. It was my 5th Céline-album. I had just had Au coeur du stade as a birthday present, and then I bought All The Way with the money I had made from my birthday. :D

Where did you bought it...

In "Anttila" I think, it's the only real cd store in my town.

What you were doing at that time...

I was a junior high student.

What are your favourite songs, both the old and new ones...

That's The Way It Is of course, and then I loved especially If Walls Could Talk and Then You Look At Me. Still do.

What are your feelings with this album, what mood brings you up...

I think it has both "good mood" songs and calm and peaceful songs, so it goes with all the moods. :D

When or where did you first listened the first single, "That's The Way It Is"...

That I don't remember..

Did you buy the matching DVD collection for this album?...

Yes, first I bought the video collection that I found in France in 2003, and later, in 2007, I found the DVD collection again in Paris, and bought that one as well! So I have two actually! :D

What is your favourite videoclip and why...

Hmm.. Well That's The Way It Is, I think. Because I liked so much the way Céline looked on the video, and the outfit she was wearing, and I think the video is fabulous also because Céline gets to be the center of the admiration of all the people that gather to watch her on the video! :D And the ending is cool too, that then it's suddenly the people that are on the tv.. :)

All The Way is embarassing to me. One of those "I'm a big celebrity and I'm gonna sing a track and have it pasted over a dead artist's track to make some money" type songs. (Sorry, guys, I love her, but in NO WAY approve of this song ever happening).

It's her and Rene's song, their song. It's not like Celine was full of herself and wanted to plaster her name all over it. It has a special meaning to them and they obviously got approval from whoever own the rights to it. How on earth is that embarrassing?

No, I get it. I know that it's Celine and Rene's song. I was there for the Let's Talk About Love Tour when she first performed it. I have no problem with her deciding to record the song. I have a problem with whoever had the idea (and I doubt it was Celine herself, no proof, of course, but I believe the chances to be unlikely) to make a virtual duet with Sinatra. I would've much rather heard her solo version of it. It's embarrassing because that's the 2nd Biggest thing (next to MHWGO) that everyone I know uses to bash Celine. She sold out and recorded a song with a dead person. And, if I didn't agree with them, I wouldn't care. But I think the same thing. I'm so glad that you don't though and can enjoy the track.

Just curious: Do you find La Diva and If I Can Dream just as embarrassing?

Celine was nominated for a Grammy for that duet with Frank Sinatra, so I doubt that it can be that embarrassing. I really don't understand some people... Edited by Claudette

Well, I can't speak to La Diva as I have never heard the song. However, If I Can Dream is not a duet. It's not a track that has Celine singing along with a dead person - at least not the track that I heard was like. Therefore, I don't get your point.

Oh, and while reading this thread, I realized that this was the FIRST Celine CD I bought on CD as opposed to a cassette tape. I am "old skool" as people younger than me used to say (I believe, they've released that phrase and moved onto something else at this point) and bought all of her music on cassette tapes. By the time All The Way came out though, I had to make the change to CD. Of course, it was a great decision. :-)

Sorry for taking part into this, but If I Can Dream was a duet with a dead person wasn't it? :hmm: I mean, it probably wasn't (or at least hasn't yet been) recorded as a track on an album, but it's still a duet that she sang "next to" Elvis Presley.. That's the only version of the song that I've heard, and I think the first time she sang it was on the American Idol special "Idol gives back", along WITH Elvis.

Since Celine is singing along with a dead Elvis I would call it a duet:

Of course that "If I can Dream" is a duet! Celine IS SINGING with Elvis, the same way she did with Frank! Simple!

I have loved Celine since The Power Of Love..... I was amazed at how someone could sing they way she did! :whistling: Then my love for Celine, just grew from there! Everyone always talked about Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera (which is amazing) Mariah, Whitney, Beyonce ect.. But for me it has always been Celine! My dream was to see her live and i did in Atlanta January 17th 2009 Taking Chances Tour it was one of the best nights of my life! I always knew she was a great vocalist but she exceeded my expectations! She was phenomenal!! :w00t: I am so happy for Celine's success and proud to be a fan of such a talented beautiful hearted humble person that she is! :flowers:

J'adore Celine

Oh right. "If I Can Dream". Sorry, I got confused and was thinking you were talking about - oh heck, what is the name of the song that was a one off, not on an album of hers.....Blerg! I can't think of it. It also has dream in the title. I Have To Dream - that's what I'm thinking of (I had to sing it in my head until I got to that line).

Yes, her "singing" with Elvis on American Idol - yes, embarrassing. Everyone I know always brings that one up too and how ridiculous it was and it was selling out, blah, blah, blah. It never helps my case as to why Celine is the greatest singer of our generation.

Thanks for helping me clear it up, by the way. Now, I'm going to have to go listen to I Have To Dream! I LOVE that song!!!

Interesting. Never heard of anyone being embarrassed by the duets before - cheesy songs, yes - but never duets. Not when the they have the owners' approval.. And I mean, Celine is a huge artist, it's not like she's doing it to gain fame or anything.. hm

Shortly (within 2 hours), the album will be officially 10 y. o. in the United States, it's time to celebrate it!  :w00t:

My personal story with this CD takes place aprox. 4 years ago, when I was delighting every Céline CD I was continuously buying from some music stores here in my hometown Córdoba, in the Andalusia region of Spain. Since I became a Céline hardcore fan (just while listening to the Power of Love and Think Twice on the TCOML album) on that day that I will never forget - the 22nd of November 2004 - ; I lived one and half of another year from that day on nearly-fully dedicated to buy Céline Dion albums and listening to their angelical music.

Well, coming to the point (hehe), I remember buying ATW...ADOS in January 2006, in "El Corte Inglés" (a Spanish store chain) when I was finishing my Céline albums purchase "adventure"... maybe I waited that long to have it just because I thought that it was a semi-compilation, and I prefered to have first all the hits in their original albums, but I didn't count on the new tracks, those which now are some of my favourite Céline songs... the first time I heard TFTEISYF it was like being on cloud number nine, Céline was so spiritually recording that song, and kind of mistycal... it was a caress for my ears... But as all of you know, things may change, and that's good... Now, my favourite ATW... ADOS tracks are TTWII and TYLAM, they're also my second and third fave Céline songs. Right now I'm in the process of lifting up to my fav Céline albums ATW next to ANDHC... because there are many songs in that album that I LOVE so much. It's a magical album.

I even made up an Spanish version for TLYAM full of inspiration that came to my mind through a sleepless night two months ago. The muses acompannied me on that night. :P I think that song (I'm referring to the original now) is great, just so emotional that I cry sometimes when I listen to it. And its meaning is full, love makes life the same way that life makes love... along with some other teachings this song may give to the ones who have the pleasure to listen to it.

Here is my kind of translation... hope the ones who understand Spanish on this board like it! :flowers:

AL MIRARME - ("Then You Look At Me" Spanish version made by myself.)

Aceptar

Un final

Puede terminar matando

Y tal vez

Al revés

Todo comience amando

Chorus:

Entonces me ves

Te sientes nacer

Y ya intentas descifrar

Por qué caminar

Por la soledad

Cuando me puedes tener

Dar, servir

Compartir

No recibir nada a cambio

Las sorpresas

Que te esperan

Son una gran recompensa

-Chorus again-

-Bridge-

Al mirarme tú

Me dices que ves

Tus sueños aparecer

Mi amor puede más

Que la eternidad

Hasta ahora tu existencia

No era más que apariencia

Me miras y empiezas a vivir

Vi... vir...

damn! I can't believe the album is actually 10 years old! :jawdrop: that makes me feel old too! I can remember hearing TTWII for the first time on the radio and thinking :wow: what a great song!! I didn't knew how it was called, I thought it was something like "love comes to those who believe it' :lmao: I loved the single aswell, cos it had I met an Angel on x-mas day on it, and it was so funky! :D

When I first got the album, I was so impressed by the new songs! I really loved If walls could talk and Live. I didn;t like ATW that much though, still don't... IMO it would have been better if she recorded a solo version! :whistling: LOL but the album was also a sad album, because Céline would take a break and nobody knew for how long or if she even would come back! It was also the emerging of the internet, so I also met other céline fans and i think that's when I really became a huge fan :wub2: :D

it's really sad though that the video of IWCT was never released to the radio stations, does anyone know when this was recorded?!?

Hmm AFAIK all the videos were shot at a similar timeframe. TTWII, IWCT and IWYTNM have the same director I think :)

But of course, too bad that IWCT were not a single for radios (instead of TFTEISYF or Live) because they did a hot hot hot video for it!! :in_love: :in_love:

Thanks, I'm very glad you liked it. Btw, I think your collection is impressive! ^_^ I don't even know most of those items...

I would have loved to be a fan on that era... when you could see Céline everywhere, wish that someday it would be half of that situation.

In IWYTNM she wears a wig but in Live it's her NATURAL HAIR! It was recorded in the end of 1999. :thumbsup2:

yep like Nando said, only in the IWYTNM clip she wears a wig! Don't tell me you didn't know that the original version of IWYTNM was rejected by Sony, cos they thought it was too violent and they thought it would harm Céline's image! That's why she had to record a new clip during her break and had to wear a wig ;)

Oh ok, thank goodness!! I was almost on the point of desillusion! :P That look with her dark hair, because it's very rare to see her like that, is one of my best favourite looks of Céline :in_love:

Wouldn't be great to see Céline with dark hair today, or like she looks in the IWCT video (dark brown)??? :in_love: :in_love: :in_love:

Yes I did know that :P And -again- what a SHAME not to have seen this video yet  :angry2:
