Javito Posted November 7, 2009 at 02:02 AM Posted November 7, 2009 at 02:02 AM Hello!! Within 10 days it will be 10 years that the album "ALL THE WAY... A Decade Of Song" was released in the United States and Canada (some days before was released in Europe, Japan and the United Kingdom). 10 days... 10 years.... a Decade (10) of this album, that celebrated also a decade of songs.... that's for all of you who like numbers ALL THE WAY... A Decade Of Song http://www.celinedion.com/AlbumData/album14/cover14.jpg http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6917/celinedionallthewayadec.jpg http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/9384/pb070793.jpg So this is a tribute thread dedicated to this album, which is undoubtedly one of her most popular and loved out there, both for fans and the general public. It also had one of the greatest production in the new songs. Each one was worked and polished up with so much care, and you can notice the result in the listening! Please feel free to share your comments and thoughts about this CD... Comment whatever memories come to your mind when you purchased this record back at the end of 1999, or whenever you get it! When you purchased it... Where did you bought it... or maybe you were given this album as a present later... What you were doing at that time... What are your favourite songs, both the old and new ones... What are your feelings with this album, what mood brings you up... When or where did you first listened the first single, "That's The Way It Is"... Did you buy the matching DVD collection for this album?... What is your favourite videoclip and why... Whatever! So this is my little story: I was 14 years old, and as many of us here, I had only heard of Céline because of the Titanic movie (what? ). I remember it was a great year for me, and the 1999 Christmas, one of the best of my life. I really have great memories from the last months of that year (don't know if it was because of Céline's album! ), and taking into account that Christmas time was already my favourite time of the year, I felt great. About Céline Dion, to be honest I didn't know much about her, except what everyone in this world knows: "Okay, she's the girl of the Titanic song" . Of course I already had the Let's Talk About Love CD in my collection, but that was all, nothing else about Céline. It was that way until the first single of this album, That's The Way It Is, was sent to radios and start to play. It was everywhere in my country!! (unfortunately a very different situation of what we have today). So as many people, I soon fell in love with that uptempo song, it was -is- amazing, so fresh, young, catching, and above all, positive! Singles weren't available for purchase in my country, so I had to wait until the album was released. I don't remember the exact day, but I'm sure it was late november or beggining of december (I didn't wait for Christmas to have it as a present ). I remember very well my first listenings of that album The opening with "The Power Of Love"... WOW. That was already a prelude of what voice this CD was about. Then suddenly fast flasbacks started coming to my mind, with songs like "It's All Coming Back To Me Now", "Because You Loved Me" or "I'm Your Angel" (that had just been airplaying the past 1998 Christmas on radios). So, as tracks were playing on my CD player, whatever I was doing those november evenings (homework, or just resting I suppose), it was like a warm greeting, a happy flashback of someone that you already knew for years, but you didn't know who she was... and it was her So this is also the story of how I became a fan too, but it was because of this album . There is always a beggining, there is always a first song for you and your Céline story, a first album... and this is mine . I wish they would have rereleased this album this year in a special deluxe edition too, perhaps an updated version with new videos and unreleased songs instead of the "My Love" collection (f.i. "Would I Know" would have made a great rerelease ) Now your turn! http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1310/pb070798.jpg Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Nmj Posted November 7, 2009 at 03:02 AM Posted November 7, 2009 at 03:02 AM I think TTWII was played a billion times in my home the first day i got the album, for me this was the best Celine album, because at this time we had all of her hits and gems like TTWII, IWYTNM,and TYLAMThe only sad time about this era for a fan is it was almost over, that hiatus came fast after the release Quote

couldawouldashoulda Posted November 8, 2009 at 02:34 AM Posted November 8, 2009 at 02:34 AM I am not sure where I purchased this album (somewhere in Chicago); however, I remember listening to is over and over and over again. I certainly bought it the day that it was released (cuz that's the kinda fan I am). I remember the first time I heard the lead single, That's The Way It Is. I was working a temp job at a construction company in the mail room and I was on my own in the mail room when it first came on the radio. I cried my eyes out when I heard it (as I was dealing with a break-up at the time and the song gave me such hope and inspiration). Let's see, it was 1999 which means that I was...28 years old, yes. Then, once I listened to the CD, I did my usual thing where I love every single song. Then, later, I realize that some of the songs weren't for me, it's just that Celine was singing them and so I liked them when I first heard them. For instance, If Walls Could Talk - not one of my favorite songs. I've probably only listened to that song 25 times this entire decade! First Time Ever I Saw Your Face I like but it's a cover, I prefer Roberta Flack's version. All The Way is embarassing to me. One of those "I'm a big celebrity and I'm gonna sing a track and have it pasted over a dead artist's track to make some money" type songs. (Sorry, guys, I love her, but in NO WAY approve of this song ever happening). Then You Look At Me, is actually my current favorite song of hers and the song that of hers (other than Falling Into You) that makes me think of my b/f the most. I Want You To Need Me is that amazing Celine/Dianne Warren song. Celine sings the s*** out of this. She sings it like nobody's business. It's amazing. I'm so annoyed that it never took off on the radio. I did everything I could to make it happen cuz I freakin loved it then and love it now. Live (for the one I love) is okay. Kinda boring in my eyes (and ears). I *did* buy the DVD collection (but I bought it on VHS) that goes with the CD. Most of her videos are boring, boring, BORING and this collection shows that off. IYAMT, IACBTMN and TTWII are the only videos I actually like. The only videoclip of the new clips that I enjoy is TTWII Quote

dj4celine Posted November 8, 2009 at 12:04 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 12:04 PM Isn't this album under certified by RIAA? Yes, by two platinum certifications. Soundscan has it around 7.9 million which makes it eligible for 8x platinum and 1.1 million by club sales so in total should be 9x platinum. I think Sony is waiting for it to reach 10 million to apply for the Diamond certification Quote

SensationalCeline Posted November 8, 2009 at 05:06 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 05:06 PM I remember this was the first album that I actually bought that I could call mine. The first song I listened to on it was My Heart Will Go On and then I had That's The Way It Is on repeat for a while. Then I started to branch out and listen to the whole album and I immediately fell in love with Then You Look At Me and It's All Coming Back To Me Now. I first heard That's The Way It Is when we were driving to my dad's work to give him his lunch because he forgot it and I was hooked. This is the first Celine album that got me hooked on her and I haven't been able to stop listening to her ever since. She's also my longest obsession and will continue to be. I ♥ her so much. How on earth is that embarrassing? No, I get it. I know that it's Celine and Rene's song. I was there for the Let's Talk About Love Tour when she first performed it. I have no problem with her deciding to record the song. I have a problem with whoever had the idea (and I doubt it was Celine herself, no proof, of course, but I believe the chances to be unlikely) to make a virtual duet with Sinatra. I would've much rather heard her solo version of it. It's embarrassing because that's the 2nd Biggest thing (next to MHWGO) that everyone I know uses to bash Celine. She sold out and recorded a song with a dead person. And, if I didn't agree with them, I wouldn't care. But I think the same thing. I'm so glad that you don't though and can enjoy the track. Quote

If Walls Could Talk - boring. Nothing happens. Then You Look At Me - Celine in a weird robot get-up (for the movie, I know) in some sort of laboratory. It just doesn't resonate with me. It's All Coming Back To Me Now - now THERE'S an interesting video. It tells a story. It goes somewhere. That's The Way It Is has a definite point of view. It's trying to get a point across. artist Posted November 13, 2009 at 11:00 PM Posted November 13, 2009 at 11:00 PM I fell in love with this album from the first time i saw it in the CD store, by then I didn't have a CD player, so i bought it on a cassette... I loved every single song, plus the internet was not available that time, so it was a big treasure in my room. Later on, my brother bought an AKAI Sound system which was made in 1978, so the quality of the sound was f***in' AMAZING!, so later on, All the way has become the first CD I ever bought and.. WOW! What a difference between the sound of a cassette and a CD! It is still, until today, my favorite Celine album. I remember I was an 8th grade student by then, and used to sleep on the soft sound of "If walls could talk" + "The first time ever I saw your face". About the feelings, it brings me back the days I started reading English novels and romances.. hehe i first saw "that's the way it is" on TV and it was by chance, believe me I didn't know that a new album was coming out due to the big and numerous rumors that Celine was gonna take a break As you see, the album contains different genres of music, so each song has a mood... "Then you look at me" was my favorite track among the new ones. Of course, I bought the DVD, i can't pick up my favorite clip. MHWGO is great in addition to the amazing short musical IACBTM.I wish Celine sang "I want u to need me" + "If walls could talk" + "Then you look at me" live, even for once. I just LOOOOOOVE the back cover of the CD; Celine’s hair looks like OMG. This is absolutely her hottest photo shoot ever, in addition to the photo inside where she is lying on a sofa (Look at those high heels and that absent serious look). My only complaint is that no footage of recording the new tracks is available anywhere. Yes, see her singing at least once those songs would be really worthy, but unfortunately... you know... she always sings the same and she rarely comes back to past songs My only complaint is that no footage of recording the new tracks is available anywhere. So true It's one of her best selling albums and we don't have behind scenes of it Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
