Celine isn't really cool and as someone who has never cared about wether my musical tastes are cool, I have no problems with that. I think after The Colour Of My Love any bit of cool she had in the public eye went.

There were a lot of very angry people when she won the Album of the Year Grammy and they have been trying to de-rail her career ever since. The overwhelming lambasting of her voice by those who consider themselves "cool" has unfortunatley done her singles career major harm. I can't think of any other artist (save for James Blunt) who has been so publicly slated by music critics who are in my opinion just desperate to be "with it".

It seems that one of the easiest ways to prove you are a true lover of music is to say that Celine screams and catawals through every song she has ever sung. That got boring a long time ago. These people never talk about the fun loving, whacky and unique Celine, her sense of humour is never mentioned, they just concentrate on her enthusiasm for all things love related. If she trys something new, she is laughed at.

 

Also, because she leads such a "dull" life; a wife, mother, no relationship problems, no drug abuse, no falling out of taxi's drunk, no affairs; she's never talked about in the (English) press.

So when she comes up with a new album, it gets slated by these critics, she has one minor single, which no one can play on the radio because they're all afraid of not being cool by playing it too often, she is shafted by her record company who release the soppiest song on the album as her follow up release, just to give her critics more ammunition, goes on a huge tour, which again, no one can afford to review positively, despite wowing the crowds and then goes on a bit of a break, where, horror of horrors she doesn't check into the Priory, she get's pregnant... by her own husband!

Celine hasn't got cool, she has got class! And that will never be rock 'n' roll enough for some. But to hell with them.

Some of the most uncool performers of their time are re-discovered years later and seen as the true talents they are, remember ABBA, The Carpenters, Bucks Fizz (Erm)

Anyway, I love her and I know that she is amazing, and I am cool!

Madonna and Mariah may not physically flaunt their boobs, lol, but they are sexual, and can be outragous and have wild antics not to mention very popular personal lives that make them way known for their music AND their personal lives compound that fame. And thats nothing against them, in a sense they are their career, or their lives are a nice 50/50 with their professional, and it's all very public, while Celine is more 90 professional 10 personal and her personal life is very low key and her public life is somewhat dim because she doesn't have the antics or whatever that others- Madonna, Mariah, Lady Gaga, etc. have. Everyone has their gimmic.

Well, what can people still want to say about Celine? COOL! There is no other singer on this planet who comes near Celine. Not one.

 

Celine is THE BEST ever. What a soft, gentle, kind, generous, loving person is she. Celine is just about perfect. I am sure that she will come back one day,

The word 'cool' can be interpreted in so many ways. To soccer moms, she's definitely cool. To college students, she's definitely not. Her voice will always be legendary and that's the most important thing. The Beyonce's and Britney's of our day will come and go and none of them will be remembered as much as The Voice. To me there's obviously no one better than her, but for the world to open their eyes and see that... well I'm not sure if that could happen again. Her day came already. I would like to see her record a new song and release it under an alias. If it gets so much attention then we will know the only reason Celine is being ignored in the music industry today is because she's the lovey dovey Celine Dion who sings cheesy ballads.
