She doesn't need to be cool because a diva of her magnitude is beyond that. She has created a status that only few artists have. There are those 'little pop stars' who strive to be cool and all that, but Celine is not someone that people take for granted (the same goes for her music). She is the voice and will always remain one of the best stars this world has ever seen. So if people ask me whether Celine is cool or not, I will say : Celine is not cool. She is magnificent ! Quote

Being cool is an expression that is mostly used by small children or youht (at least that's what I think about it). Although I'm not English/American I'm frequently conversating in the English language and I never heard somebody talking about being cool. Not in the maybe 10 times a year I'm visiting the UK or the 4 times a year I'm spending time in the USA or Canada.... So what does it actually mean "being cool"? When we take a site like wikipedia for example it says this about "cool": Cool is an aesthetic or norm of attitude, behavior, comportment, appearance and style. What counts as cool is subjective and the term often signifies admiration or approval toward some other. More generally speaking, it has no single meaning and can suggest different connotations such as e.g. composure and self-control (see the OED definition). So what do we learn about this? Being cool has no meaning at all. Actually it's subjective. Someone can find something or someone cool but others don't. The first sentence says it all: "Cool is an easthetic or norm of attitude, behavior, appearance and style". This combines everything... So IMHO being cool has no sensible meaning at all. This being said. I don't think Céline is cool. I actually don't think anyone is cool... Why? Because being cool means nothing at all... But... What can we say about Céline that says something? Well, we can say that she has a nice appearance due the fact that she wears nice clothes for example.We can also say that she looks nice when you take notice of her age because she takes care of herself.We can say that she's a succesfull artist who has sold millions of records and sold out hundreds, even thousands of shows.Maybe we can also say that she's a decent mother who loves her child very much because it appears to be so when the family is togheter.You can also say that she cares about other people who are having problems because she donates large sums of money to good causes.And we can continue this list for a while... I would be more than glad if she comes back with a new album or a great show or maybe she does another world tour ... But I would also understand totally, if she retires from the showbusiness and just be a mother. She's been so long in this business - who can imagine, what's that like ... of course there are may favours ... but on the other side: for example being in love with Rene for so many years and being not "allowed" to talk about it, and the media always asking about it ... Longing to have a child with Rene - being asked about in every interview she did, and knowing that maybe her dearest wish might not come true ... the sickness of Rene ... the fact, that the days together are certainly counted because of their age difference ... She doesn't have to proove anything! She reached every major peak a musician can possibly reach. And, hey guys: Just let her be pregnant. Let her have the child. Who knows if everything will go on well. It's certainly risky being pregnang at that age. I truely wish her, that she is well today - and I don't care about tomorrow. She gave me SO MUCH! Comfort, joy, hope ... so I'm truly thankful and wish her all the best! The only wish I have, as her fan: That she changes the record company. I don't have the impression, that they serve her well. Unfortunately, Céline will never be cool again, she was once "cool" around 1994/1996, but I guess it was due to some kind of misunderstanding from the public, what appeared to be simplicity mixed with pure talent then turned out to be goofiness mixed with blind professionalism. Now, Céline is still a great singer and I am sure she is still able to do great things, we'll see what the future can bring... But don't expect her to be perceived as cool ever again. Like one recording person said, they can make anybody sound good on a track and take that track to #1. Its more about the songwriting, synthesizing (gag) and hard work behind the scenes. That's where the talent lies these days, not in singers' voices. You don't have to actually be able to sing well to have a hit these days, sad times. But I mean, Céline is the coolest person ever. Have you SEEN her dance moves? GENIUS! I've never been popular and I consider myself pretty dang cool, ya know, in a dorky kinda sexy way ahahahah Céline is a special jewel Irreplaceable, beautiful, the sweetest person on the planet, and that's good enough for me! Cool IMO is mainstream-pop-everybody-likes-you-without-knowing-why-etc. Céline is unique and she is amazing but in the closet. Most people don't know how funny and sensitive and strong she is because they don't take a second look. How can I care about what those people think? Céline is so much more than meets the eye (I had to learn that myself) and I value the opinion of those people who take the time to really look at her, over those that find her 'cool' because she meets contemporary expectations.
