Adam Lambert!

anyway, Adam Lambert is now defending himself which is not very surprising. i personally think that he's got the right to defend himself :yea: ...and he makes sure he's doin it sounding as CLASSY as possible: -_-

"I don't feel I owe anyone an apology for anything... I did something female performers have been doing for years. All of a sudden a guy does it, and it's crazy. I do think there's a double standard.""

when asked what do you hav to say to those parents who complained that they were offended and they were sitting along with their kids while they were watching the show

"u know, it was that late' I'm not a babysitter, I'm a performer." :wow:

he continues:

"there were other acts that were on the show, Janet Jackson had hand-grab on the crotch, Rihanna performed with riffles on stage, Lady Gaga smashed bottles...

there were other things on the show that were questionable; i dont hav a problem with it but i think its double-standard"

 im confused, is he defending himself or is he thrashing those already established artists bcoz of the fact that they didnt get any back-lash?? :bruce:

Gosh!!! can this guy look any more of a douche than he is already

its not like he's one of those goody-goody artists who's always been nice but had a melt-down once in a while; all i've seen is him making headlines for being arrogant!!! :grrr:

associatedcontent.com wrote:

"Adam Lambert, who said he didn't want to "alienate" fans with his sexuality, rubbed their faces in it with his performance Sunday. Adam Lambert's AMA performance was highly anticipated, as Adam Lambert promised his AMA performance would be memorable". :thumbup1:

one of the parents on the boards responded like this: :devilsmiley:

oh and Adam, your right. It's not up to you to babysit. From now on, I will make sure none of my kids buy, listen, or watch anything u do. Until they r 18, I do have all censorship rights. Thanks for reminding me. And as for the rock n' roll excuse..Please. I grew up banging my head with the heaviest of metal bands and never had I see them grind their crotch into someone'

Yup it was very tongue in cheek and it is fitting with his personality. I used to dislike Lady Gaga because of her over-the-top performances/costumes, but it's growing on me. And before the AMAs I never paid attention to Adam either. But like I said earlier, I liked FYE, and his performance was certaintly very interesting, not like your usual ho-hum ones. But hey if it was, people wouldn't be posting consecutively about an artist they don't like :lmao: There is no one artist that everyone will like, nor should there be. This is who he is, and if people don't like it no one is forcing them to watch or listen to him.

What do Adam Lambert fans think of him having a show with Lady Gaga?? :giggle:

I don't think that him being gay has anything to do with what was wrong with that performance. I actually didn't care that he kissed a guy...it was the part where he put a guys head in his crotch, and whipping people...that's what was offensive! And it wouldn't matter if a straight guy, or a woman did the same thing- it'd still be inappropriate for an awards show that families watch together!

“I have no problem telling people, ‘You know what? I’m not your babysitter, and I’m not your church,’” he says. “They go, ‘Jesus loves you, too.’ One time I just blurted out, ‘I’m Jewish, okay? I don’t need another crucifix!"<---Ok, what's up with that? As far as I'm aware, Jews don't approve of that kind of behavior any more than Christians do! I can't think of any religion does, for that matter. So what's his point??

im confused who u r pointing ur fingers at.

anyway, my point is, when u r a public figure its imp to maintain ur cool . i know its a turn-off sometimes when Christians preach gospel to those who dont want to listen; but how much does it cost for him refuse something POLITELY!!! that response was rather like saying EFF OFF!! ...to ur fans :o ???

this guy's so rude and arrogant!!! he hasnt even actually made it yet in the business

What do you mean, who I'm pointing my finger at? The only person I was criticizing here is Adam...for basically saying that since he is Jewish, and not Christian, he doesn't need to worry about morals? And you're right, Christians can be annoying- but that doesn't mean he has to be rude.

i think it'll be awesome :giggle:

Did he really have to bring up the names of David Bowie and Freddie Mercury to justify his shenanigans?

Helllllloooooooo, Bowie had the genius and Mercury had the soul.

Lambert is just a pompous hack until proven otherwise.

yeah!!! it'd be awesome ...i mean, he can get some exposure under the expense of Stefani [Lady Gaga] :-D

almost all other artists [including Madonna, Michael Bolton] are using her coz she's the current music.

personally i've never felt her styling, music or singing as my type. i never was a fan or a hater; i skip the pages whenever she came up. but still, i've found her very fascinating... her videos are weird, her costumes are outrageously weird, her stage shows are weird...

...but u cant help but respect this woman, coz she knows HOW TO TALK in public!!!

i remember when Christina Aguilera [when asked whether she'd copied Lady Gaga's style] commented like this bout Lady Gaga:

"You know, that’s funny that you mention that. This person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don’t know if it is a man or a woman. I just wasn’t sure. I really don’t spend any time on the Internet, so I guess I live a little under a rock in that respect." :o :o :o

she responded with maturity on the immature comments that Christina left:

"I don't take offense to it. I'm inspired by androgyny and David Bowie and Grace Jones, I don't have a 'look'. I dress like this all the time. I have no enemies." :thumbsup2: :flowers:

Love her or hate her, GaGa definitely has a knack of writing catchy songs that HER audience wants, she plays piano, she designs her [whacky] costumes...

...and to top it all, she knows how to treat her fans; heard she spend $1000 on pizzas for her fans waiting for her CD signing ...now who does that??? she's awesome in her own weird ways!!!

take notes mAdam Lamebert :pinch:

Other than the vocals, I didn't find anything that offensive in the performance

He's different and if wants to stand out doing outrageous stuff, let him. He won't be banned or anything

An artist can never inspire or be loved by each and every individual.

Rakesh, nothing personal, but I think it was inappropriate of you to bring up Celine's name in your posts just to get your point across as there was clearly no connection whatsoever with her and this performance of Adam's. Yes, I agree that it was very unwise of him to bring up Madonna-Britney-Christina threesome issue but what he said is true. If they can do that why not him. As for the other interviews and him treating his fans, it's his choice. If he wants to be in the public eye with these controversial ramblings, let him be. If someone doesn't like him, they wouldn't pay much attention to him.

Nicky, I know you love Madonna but I'm not saying this just cos I don't like her. But think it in this way, Madonna was outrageous for her time in her performances in various award shows (not speaking of her videos and the book). It's the same with Adam, I think. He's just being outrageous for this generation. I'm not comparing him to Madonna cos even if I don't like her, I do respect and acknowledge the fact that she's influential and revolutionized pop music. So don't go on and say anything about me comparing Adam and Madonna :giggle:

And for the performance being aired live, it was already late when it was on tv so the kids should definitely not be up and watching that show as it was way past their bed time. If the so called concerned parents who's clamouring for nothing and saying that this performance was not for family and kiddies watching it, well, the first thing, they shouldn't be up this late and being concerned parents should put them to bed in the appropriate time. -_- As for the others who are over 18, oh please, you are adult enough. If you can handle booze and making out with who knows who secretly, you can definitely handle this. As for the others who are adults and don't do any of these, there's an invention called the "SWITCH OFF" button. Make use of that.

Then there are others who are preaching about religion, I just hope this doesn't turn into another religiously vile thread cos I like Adam and I would want to keep this thread alive :flowers:

Guess I wrote a lot :giggle:

I don't know if you were talking to me when you said that...but if you are, re-read the thread. I didn't "preach" anything. I just feel that if he's going to insult Christians, I have the right to respond to that.

Anyway, don't worry, I'm leaving now, Adam really does not interest me that much! Have fun! Peace, love, all those good things! :)

I didn't mean anyone in particular, Jacqui. As for the Christian thing, I'm a half/semi-practicing Christian as well. On top of that, my mum's side is a staunch Baptist so I don't want to elaborate on that. It gets very ugly when things like this are mixed with religion. I just wanted to state the fact that CDF is still alive and kicking just cos of the superb moderation done here and it wasn't allowed to be embroiled in a religion/political tussle. I've seen many forums die out just cos of that.

I'm glad that Edwin has said that this thread won't be allowed to be interpolated with politics/religion :)

Anyways, change of topic, I'm downloading his album now :w00t:

i dont understand why u felt so irked bout me bringing up Celine's name when i wasnt clearly thrashing her or somethin  ...and i didnt bring up Celine's name to compare his "performance" but the tasteless words he used to refer his fans in the interview [sorry, as a fan of Celine Dion too, i thought i could use her name; i shouldve used Mariah's name instead]. anyway, as someone who likes Adam if u r cool with his attitude good for u. -_-

talk about the Madonna-Britney-Christina issue, dude u r sounding a bit like Perez Hilton. i hope u understand the difference between AMAs & MTV VMAs. [although, dont u think Madonna-Britney-Christina lip-on-lip was rather like a peck than eating the whole mouth? :hmm: ...and honestly, i think it was the face-on-crotch & finger gesture that caused the uproar]. There is a time & place for doing the kind "performance" Adam did. i dont think Madonna did a "pushing the boundary" performance for her live debut on TV.

:glare: the fact is, Adam is STILL nothing but some guy that just came in SECOND on a reality TV show. Correct me if im wrong, my memories dont recall Madonna doin simulated oral sex on AMAs/Grammys. AMAs [an equivalent of the Grammys] is a family show; it was weekend, i wouldnt blame the kids for stayin awake to see a DEBUT performance of someone from American Idol , another family show which is also meant to appeal to teens & kids. Can u blame the parents for being so shocked to witness a former idol contestant "pushing the boundaries" for his DEBUT performance of a song from his new albm?

:pinch: Anyway, Adam made his point that he's not a baby-sitter; the parents are making their points, thats it. i guess u read one of the parent's response i posted above.

Oh! in case u dont remember, Madonna-Britney-Christina incident did cause outrage!! A LOT!!!

i dont care about his religious matters; thats why i ended my comment with "good for him".

bout my later comments on it, it was a misunderstanding. "Jacqui" made her point anyway.

FYI, im not the kind who booze and make out with who knows who secretly. i dont care what others do either!!

i NEVER expected Adam to be the kind who worries about morals; i was never bothered bout him being "him"; i didnt care bout his man-on-man pics that leaked on the tabloids while he was still on Idol; i was never bothered when i saw his amusing albm cover [i mean, please! why would i do that? :giggle: im a Mariah fan "cough" Rainbow "cough" Obsessed]; i expected him to be "him" on AMAs; but i didnt expect THAT!! :o

 i just wish he saved his tasteless bedroom moves somewhere else!!! maybe his own concert or maybe for MTV [he already did humping moves & pelvic thrusts on idol tours; noone complained. ]

Sure we adults do a LOT behind closed doors & toilets; but c'mon, we r not living in the cave-men era to hav all tv shows to be pornographically artistic, right????

-_- anyway, "SWITCH OFF"/Change button is somethin im gonna use from now on everytime i see mAdam's head on TV, so no more issues!! :whistling: :flowers:

before i started using the "SWITCH OFF" button, i happen to see his video ...from "Me Against the Music" to snakes and his dancing, I saw every element of Britney Spears [or rather 50 yr old Madonna] in this vid... should i consider this a good thing? glamrock???

Sorry; couldnt help it

The Adam Lambert brouhaha resulting in a sales winner

As evidenced by Miley Cyrus just a few months ago, a little controversy rarely hurts in the sales department. Adam Lambert is on track to beat retail expectations for his RCA release, "For Your Entertainment," according to early returns compiled by keeper-of-the-charts Billboard Magazine.

The artist appeared on the "The Early Show" this morning on CBS, noting that some of his more aggressive moves on his American Music Awards appearance weren't all rehearsed. "The song lyrically is sexual, and I was just performing the lyrics of my song," Lambert said. "I think in the future I will probably make a little bit more of an effort to stay consistent with what I do during rehearsal to what I do during the show. That's something I'm learning now, and that way if anyone has a problem with what I'm doing, it can be explored during rehearsal."

But all the chatter and debate isn't stopping people from picking up his first post-"American Idol" release. Billboard writes that "For Your Entertainment" should sell at least 225,000 copies when it debuts on next week's chart, and could possibly move more with post-Thanksgiving shoppers invading retailers. Lambert's promo tour continues tonight with an appearance on the "Late Show With David Letterman."

Lambert's sales will be right in line with many a recent "Idol," and will far surpass those of Kris Allen. The latter, who actually won this season's "Idol," landed at No. 11 on this week's chart, selling only 80,000 copies of his self-titled debut, according to Nielsen SoundScan, during the holiday sales season, when numbers are typically inflated.

Perhaps Allen should scruff up his puppy-dog image. Earlier this year, teen sensation Cyrus was under attack for briefly dancing on a stripper pole during Nickelodeon's Teen Choice Awards. Yet, ultimately, the appearance bolstered Cyrus' star power, as her "Party in the U.S.A." remains in the top 10 of the U.S. pop chart. And her "The Time of Our Lives" EP has sold 780,000 copies in just 13 weeks.

Lambert's debut week numbers should be somewhere near those for "Idol" winner David Cook, whose self-titled effort last year sold 280,000 copies in the first week. And around the same time, the self-titled effort by last year's "Idol" runner-up, David Archuleta, sold 180,000 copies in its first week.

And those who aren't a fan of either Lambert's or Cyrus' performance shouldn't lose all faith in pop music. One needs to look only to Susan Boyle, who is defying all expectations and may very well end up with the year's best debut week. That is, of course, if stores can even keep the album on shelves.

Billboard puts the sales estimate at somewhere in the 600,000-unit range, but notes that if Sony can keep the album in stock, it could skyrocket. Wrote the magazine's Ed Christman, "Based on past performances of hot-selling titles, Sony Music Entertainment likely will keep pace with demand. But it's scrambling to do so, allocating product daily and making multiple shipments this week to each account. Sony Music's ability to deliver product will be hampered by the holiday weekend, which begins Wednesday afternoon/evening."

Ann Powers discussed the appeal of Boyle in her recent review. Wrote Powers, "Since she first raised her arms in what now seems like a blessing on the talent show 'Britain's Got Talent,' revealing herself as the new queen of pop's Island of Misfit Toys, Susan Boyle has come to mean several things to her fans: hope, the triumph of the ordinary, the reality-television embodiment of the Euro-American Dream. As a singer, though, she offers something else: relief."

I'm so glad to know Adam because my singing skills have become better. I can actually do his style. right now, i can sing "love hurts", unlike before which i don't dare to sing the song completely.

After being disinvited from GMA following the AMA, Adam will finally be on ABC again, on The View Tomorrow. Interesting how ABC quickly changed their mind as his album sold rather nicely in its first week :P I see he has some upcoming concerts on the west coast (california and washington).I'm keeping my eye open to see if he will venture more my way :D Edited by Edwin

I got his album for my b-day and it's not bad, but I expected more Lady Gaga from him. his album is quite ordinary and not that shocking... there are some good songs, but it's irritating to me, that he sings so much in a high key register...
