On the main AOL homepage today where it rotates between different stories there was a picture of Celine in the following headline:"Celine Made Huge Mistake Turned Down Song, Then Band Took It To No. 1: 10 Rejects That Became Hits" It linked to a Pop-Eater website: http://www.popeater.com/music/article/10-p...op-songs/356949 You have to go to the fourth selection.

 

Of course on AOL they make it sound like it's some horrible thing when it's just about artists that turned down songs that later became big. I think it would have been interesting if she HAD ended up recording this song. :yes:

On the contrary, The Reason was originally supposed to be an Aerosmith song (I believe?), but she recorded it instead and it's one of my favorites from her.

Yeah I think it was wise too, it's bad enough she's known as the 'titanic' lady, it would be even worse to be known as that 'theme song from every sentimental movie' singer :doh: but even though I love Faith Hill, i don't really like the song! :blushing1: :laugh:

 

What could Aerosmith possibly have in common with Dion, aside from big hair?

Considering that "I dont want to miss a thing" is based on Celines success with "My Heart will go on" (both are pompous love themes from movies) Im not surprised that they turned it down, her team probably didnt want to be associated with any other films at the time.

 

Also, with the amount of songs shes offered, I doubt Celine heard the track before Aerosmith recorded it.

"Heaven's What I feel" ended up being recorded by Gloria Estefan, but it was written for Céline. Gloria thanks Céline in her album for giving her the song, or something like that. There were rumors that Céline even recorded a demo.

It's ok. I don't think Celine's version could make it number 1.

 

She needs a Dianne Warren song.

 

Celine should collaborate with Ne-Yo for a song.

 

Or with Rihanna.

I dont think Celine made a mistake at all not taking that song, sure she already had done "My heart will go on". It cant get better than that , so it would of been going backwards for her ........She didnt need it

Don't know if someone said this already, but.. (this song was recorded around 98, right?) I don't think that I would have liked the 90's-Celine-VocalDiva-version of the song (which I like, a lot). However, recorded by a more mature 40+ Celine who seems to get more and more willing to step out of that bubble if you know what I mean (e.g. 'That's just the woman in me') where every note and word doesn't have to be perfect - would love that!

David foster said in an interview and said she turned down the song "there you'll be" cuz she was one her hiatus.

There are a lot of songs I'd love to hear Celine sing...but I never think that she "made a mistake" by turning one or the other down...I mean look at her...does she really NEED them?? Everyone already knows who she is...and would blow their left leg off for her. IMO...hahah.
