My heart will go on - with a huge titanic in the background - and sung live in original pitch ;-) That's not going to happen. Even if her voice is in great condition when she's back in 2010 she's not going to sing that song live int he original pictch. She's lipped this song since 2003, and it's just as well cos the high notes on the Dancing with the stars 2007 performance sounded like a goat going "ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a!" It's a shame she dosen't sing this song live anymore, but I hope she does in 2010. But I hope they don't lower the pitch (did they do this on Star Acedemie? I can't tell) Edited April 2, 2009 at 03:58 PM by ShuttleDiscovery Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted April 2, 2009 at 04:11 PM Posted April 2, 2009 at 04:11 PM No more '' Love can move mountains!!!!!!! '' I never want to hear Celine sing this song again, shes sung it at concerts, shows and tv programmes over the years, time and time and time again... I'd really like to hear songs shes never sang live before or just sung once or twice. I want ''lcmm'' laid to rest, once and for all! Darren. Quote

browseceline Posted April 2, 2009 at 07:49 PM Posted April 2, 2009 at 07:49 PM I am not a fan of Love can move mountains too, but in every concerttour we hear that song coming back. It is known as one of Celine her favorites..so I am afraid it will be back in in the next vegas show. In my opinion ttwii and shadow of love for instance, are much better!About mhwgo; in the last 2009 appearance in star academy she sang the song, in at least, another instrumental version, other then we are used to, and also completely live! I like her grammy awards 1998 version with the orchestra very much. But the original pitch just sounds so much more clearer and fresher.Although I do like the lower pitch ones too. I can't tell) well yes, I just listened to this new version ( and you must be quick to see it because other versions already have been removed by youtube!) As I play this song so often I just tried to play along...and again the song is in a lowered pitch! The original one starts with a E, the lowered onewith a D. CelineFanInSoCal Posted April 2, 2009 at 11:45 PM Posted April 2, 2009 at 11:45 PM Well, all this "lower key" stuff would have to be natural, considering she's older than she was when she originally recorded it. Maybe not a whole key, but at least a little lower. She's always recorded album songs way too bombastic than what she'd care to sing live, during concerts. The MHWGO number will never ever be as nuts as the album version, and will likely remain lipped, unless it's shortened a la TPOL and included in a movie/soundtrack medley, which would be smart, both for those of us who are over the lipped performances, and smart for her, to shorten a part of a live show that she doesn't look forward to. LOL I'd like to see the set list fully developed from the ground up, in hopes to provide a fresh sound and not rely on lipping every other number to "preserve her voice" and enough of those songs that are half sung, half chirped through like a friggin bird [think LCMM] LMAO. It's obvious she enjoys those types of numbers, and I truly think that if they approached other, mid/fast tempo songs with a little brains, we could have some awesome "get up and shake it" numbers... maybe if she took a page from other performers' books and instead of lipping the music, used more pre-recorded music to pick up the tempo and get the numbers sounding sharp and exciting... the constant hum and buzz of the same tired instruments really brings some of the live numbers down, making them sounds flat, static and lifeless, putting all the pressure on her vocals to carry the song. meh.... so im going through my catalogue of Celine in iTunes and making my dream list. LMAO. Quote
Lymon Posted April 3, 2009 at 02:35 AM Posted April 3, 2009 at 02:35 AM (edited) to "preserve her voice" See, that's what I don't get. What is she preserving her voice for? When she's 80, is she gonna have a concert where she holds a 60 second note? If you're not vocally able to sing the dang song every night, change up the arrangement a little so you can, or take it out of the setlist. Simple as that. Anyway, if she does do another Vegas show, i'd like it to be seperated into different categories(rock, uptempo, ballad, tribute), stuff like that. I'd love to see her do a Tina tribute with The Best/Proud Mary/River Deep Mountain High! Edited April 3, 2009 at 02:36 AM by Lymon Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png

She's been "preserving" her voice since '92 and I'm friggin over it. Either give us something that says "omfg, that's what you've been saving it for?! i dont blame you! you go girl" or stop taking our hard earned cash and get off the stage. LMAO. That may be kinda harsh, I'll admit, but c'mon... NO MORE LIP SYNCING! NO MORE BORING ARRANGEMENTS! NO MORE TIRED OLD SONGS FROM 1990! There's too much in her repertoire to skip over all the gems and go for the same old stuff that we've been hearing and seeing since forever. I'm tired of it, and lord know she's tired of singing the same stuff or lipping the same stuff. GGGRRRRR!!!! I get so agitated over it. Can you tell?! Quote
xxmatthewxx Posted April 3, 2009 at 05:08 AM Posted April 3, 2009 at 05:08 AM (edited) I would really like to hear a lot more of the newer songs from the Taking Chances album. Has a great mix of sound all the way through it. (Taking Chances, Alone, Eyes On me, My Love, Shadow Of Love, Surprise Surprise, This Time, A World To Believe In, Can't Fight The Feeling, Fade Away, That's Just The Women in Me - Yeah huge fan of this album and obviously I know that entire list would not be done but a few of them would be nice). I think something needs to be changed in the way of her world tour and the ending year of a new Day kinda had the same similar beginning set list. I love all those songs but I don't think they need to be done every time. Change some of them to songs that you don't hear as much like That's The Way It Is, Only One Road and Think Twice if they are pushing for songs with releases. Posters have also mentioned change the arrangements and I am up for this as well. It's give a whole new sounds to some really good songs and would freshen them up. I'd love to see it done. Alex_Incognito Posted April 3, 2009 at 09:43 AM Posted April 3, 2009 at 09:43 AM Céline didn't BELT HER HEART out on her '80's numbers. They were more reserved for her voice and showcased her voice even better, in my opinion. Listen to "D'amour ou d'amitié" or "Avec toi"---these songs are pure magic, and wouldn't rupture her at all. It wish she'd have a totally different show----forget anything from the 1990's, unless she hasn't done them on the stage before. I'm at the point of my fandom where I CAN NOT play any 1990's English albums anymore, except "Unison" and "Céline Dion." And Céline--- FRANCOPHONE shows. Let's throw away the anglo-career and focus more on your artisticness. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

If Celine can sing ABM live and hit all sorts of notes as evidences in the TC tour, she can definitely still sing TPOL and TLYM live. There's no doubt about that. Her voice is still in great shape. But why don't people understand that Celine is not a machine? I mean, most artists wouldn't have extended a show like AND an additional year and a half into December 2007. Most singers would have performed 3 years and then gone into seclusion. Celine really spoiled us doing AND into the end of 2007, recording Taking Chances and D'elles and then doing a year long international tour. Celine is indeed capable of singing every song live every night, but don't people think that performing 20-25 songs on almost daily basis for 6 years (2003-2009) can be strenuous? Don't people remember that on the AND DVD Celine and Rene were leaving their house to go to the Colosseum and Celine made a comment about doing the show for almost 3 weeks straight and how tired she was and how she needed a break? And don't forget that if not careful a singer's voice can be ruined to the heat and high humidity of the desert when she lived in Vegas. In fact, she did many saline treatments to help protect her voice. However, saline treatments can really dry up nasal passages, thus reducing a person's immunity and as a result Celine dealt with a lot of respiratory illness while in Vegas. People see the glamorous aspect of being an artist but forget that a tremendous amount of work and dedication go into putting a show together and performing. Many times Celine is in an awesome mood and there are days that she may feel sick and weak and still goes out and gives a performance of a lifetime and people can't even tell the difference. Like in Phoenix, for example. Celine was feeling ill and about to lose her voice and still gave a superb performance of ABM and did some incredible notes for RDMH that were not done in most of her performances of that song. People need to be more appreciative and considerate. It is easy to say this and that, but a lot of work and effort goes into those shows. And now that that is said... We'll see what happens in regards to this "maybe" show starting in late 2010. I do agree that the set list needs to be changed and new arrangements created. However, classics such as BYLM/TLYM/TPOL/MHWGO, much to the dismay of many, will still be part of the set list. We need to remember that most people that go to Celine shows only see Celine once, twice, tops three times in their life time and will thus be more keen to hearing her classics. As such, most people that go to the concerts are not the hard die fans that track Celine's every step and know her every song and have seen her 45 times. Just some things to take into consideration. Personally, I wish she would just lip no more then 25% of a show, with it never being the same 4-5 songs (like a rotating basis where this week these are lipped, this week these, etc...), it is a way to give her voice a rest and still provide good honest performances. And of course, DVD taping should be 100% live always. =) Quote

I do not intend to turn this thread into another lipsynch yay or nay thread. We can all discuss our points of view and respect each other's opinion. Some people say that certain songs were always lipped on AND. But I have downloaded several bootlegs from different dates and there are some songs that actually sounded entirely live on certain dates. So I really don't think that certain songs were always lipped but I'm sure that on specific occasions Celine sang certain songs live. As far as the taping of DVD's are concerned, yes, performances should be entirely live. Whether they are not, I am not going to say anything about that. But they should be live regardless. And as far as ABM is concerned, I do disagree with you. I do believe that the song was performed live. Just listen to several versions of the song on YouTube. Watch and listen to the versions in Tokyo, Sydney, Korea, Montreal, Phoenix, etc. I don't know about you, but they sound live to me. In fact, the versions performed in Sydney, Japan, and more recently the first few performances of the song in 2009 and in Montreal (2009) are different and have specific ad-libs. I can tell you that I saw Celine in Miami and in Fort Lauderdale (where I saw 5th row) and I can vouch that ABM was live. Bottom line... Celine is a superb artist and she puts on phenomenal performances. We all know that people who go to her concerts leave the shows extremely satisfied and praising her skills. But she also needs to look after herself and after 6 years of almost nonstop performances, some things need to be compromised. Quote

Yeah, I think we'd all agree that Celine is awesome, she's out fave, etc, etc etc, but I just don't see how it happens that you have some magic bootlegs where she's singing live, when she would have lipped them the other 716 times. You can find bootlegs and even footage released from celine, teamceline, or advertisements for the AND show, and every performance of a lipped song would match. you can even match those performances to tv specials both from the UK and the US, and on top of it, match them up with performances from the TC tour. and as for AMB, she at least has the backing track at her disposal for the BIG note, and has used it on more than one occasion. watch the star academie clip crank up the volume and use some good earphones, cuz you can hear both her and the backing track kick in for the big note. and there's lots of other ABM clips on the net where the big notes all sound identical. im not saying the whole song is lipped, but what i am saying is that ive been able to find multiple clips where the big "anymore" at the bridge of the song is lipped. and while i agree that just about everyone who goes to her show leaves so impressed with what type of show she puts on, but what bothers me the most is that they're mostly impressed with HOW SHE SOUNDS. sure, they may comment "wow, i didnt think she could move like that" or something like that, but everyone who goes to a Celine Dion concert is going to HEAR THE VOICE, and when that voice is pre-recorded from backing tracks that are YEARS old... is ridiculous. TPOL track is going on it's 15th anniversary soon, and yet the only change to it is its length. The tracks she's lipping to for IDAN, IACBTMN, MHWGO and previously RDMH are all over 5 years old. She's been lipping to TLYM for well over 10 years now. and yet when she chirps her way through LCMM, no one notices that she doesnt sound the same as those other tracks? I notice, as do other fans. It's almost embarrassing. With the onset of youtube and the internet it's easier than ever to catch, record and share these lipped moments with the world. not to mention in HD is you're camera will record it that way. my bottom line? pick songs that would excite the crowd and celine alike. why lip so many songs when you could refresh their arrangements, make them in to a true medley and get them over with, then have some fun with stuff we've never heard before. it's time. Quite honestly, I think it was a mistake to go to Vegas simply because of the fact of her voice. Sure, she changed the scene of the city, but at what expense to her voice and overall health? Her voice was damaged by the air and she was so incredibly tired after it, and still went on tour(which I found ridiculous that she would do after Vegas). I know Celine has spoiled us, but she needs to think of herself. I'd rather her go on a short tour of 50-60 dates every few years or so and really enjoy it, rather than 7 years of non-stop performing and it sucking the life out of her. I'm sure Celine didn't hate this tour, but nobody can convince me that it didn't work her to the bone and that she was so incredibly happy that it ended so she could rest. She's more of a "machine" when she does playback then when she sings live. That's why I wish she had new setlists to freshen up things. ANd insted of every hit in every setlist, why not do a selection of hits? Why not just sing MHWGO, BYLM and TLYM? Put them in the beginning of the show to please the casual fans, maybe in a stripped-down format, then move onto your new/rarely sung material. Then for another tour she can sing TPOL, IACBTMN and IYA. Why does she have to sing every hit? That's overkill. Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png

Good going... glad someone at least sees the issues surrounding performing in Vegas, lipping all the hits, maybe creating refreshed set lists and all that goes along with it. I say let the girl chill for a while and come back with something awesome. I'd go a couple years without an entire album or new show/tour, if it meant she'd come back refreshed, wanting to have some fun and give us something different, rather than watching her lip TPOL, IACBTMN, IDAN, TLYM, MHWGO, etc etc at a show that's supposed to be new. SuperLove4Celine Posted April 7, 2009 at 02:02 AM Posted April 7, 2009 at 02:02 AM To be honest I have a gut feeling the general public would be fine if "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," "To Love You More," and "I'm Your Angel" weren't included in the set list. The songs I believe the majority would really want to hear are "Because You Loved Me," "My Heart Will Go On," "A New Day Has Come" and "The Power Of Love." Removing the first three I mentioned would open up enough room for some older hits that haven't been seen performed live in ages ("Where Does My Heart Beat Now," "That's The Way It Is," and "If You Asked Me To"). I've already posted the set list I'd like to see created for the show, but I will make mention it would be nice if a really cool introduction video would be used as was for the Taking Chances World Tour. Maybe get inspiration from Cher's Farewell Tour and show images of her CD singles and albums while an upbeat song of hers plays. Her show could be so modern if only some CHANCES were taken. - Joe Quote

I don't know if i'd like it if they copy cher's intro, but something retrospective could be cool. im still pushing for a revamped medley, where the song arrangements are updates, they're all live, and they're actually all part of a true medley, kinda like the medley from the LTAL tour... maybe unplugged or jazzy/bluesy sounding and they all flow into one another. Scramasboy Posted April 7, 2009 at 07:39 AM Posted April 7, 2009 at 07:39 AM I think they should include all the hits. I wouldn't be dissapointed if she didn't, but average fans would, and that is unnacceptable- would you wanna go to a show of someone you liked, and they sing 25 songs, and you not know 20 of them? Ya know? Anyway, I was EXTREMELY impressed by It's a Mans World, haha. Quote http://68.media.tumblr.com/0215da4dacb45f3375c9bf63cb89e9c3/tumblr_o3edqjdnpP1s2lrfeo1_1280.png
Timster Posted April 7, 2009 at 07:53 AM Posted April 7, 2009 at 07:53 AM Scorp, All By Myself was only live the first show, where then after she re-recorded a new playback track for it and it was lipped the other 131. I disagree. The only part she lips is the high note, which would have been recorded in acapella during rehearsals to get it just right. They wouldn't use a recording from the first concert because she'd still have the band playing in it, so any concerts afterwards you'd hear the band playing live, and on the playback during the high note, thus completely drowining out Celine's voice. In Vegas it was clear that the bamd was always playing live, so Celine's playbacks must be acapellas played over the music. Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted April 7, 2009 at 07:55 AM Posted April 7, 2009 at 07:55 AM I agree---it wouldn't make sense using a live performance to lip from. I'm sure she has master tapes of rehearsal demos that she uses for playback. I'd love to hear them all alone without the audience! Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Ya know? Anyway, I was EXTREMELY impressed by It's a Mans World, haha. Oke you want all the hits?? her top 10 hits in the states:"(If There Was) Any Other Way" no 8"Where Does My Heart Beat Now" no 2"Beauty and the Beast" no 3 "If You Asked Me To" no 1"Nothing Broken But My Heart" no 1"Love Can Move Mountains" no 8"When I Fall in Love" no 6"The Power of Love" no 1"To Love You More" no 1"Because You Loved Me" no 1"It's All Coming Back to Me Now" no 1"All by Myself" no 1"Tell Him" no 1"My Heart Will Go On" no 1"I'm Your Angel" no 1"That's the Way It Is" no 1"A New Day Has Come" no 1"I'm Alive" no 6"I Drove All Night" no 7"Have You Ever Been in Love" no 2"Taking Chances" no 6 first... I'm missing some of her big hits there... why hasn't she performed them in ages??? second... I think a night like that would be very boring! I don't get, why they don't change the setlist more often?? She could have done BATB instead of IYA in the states for instance.... So much have been said and done, but the truth is, I don't think Célines team will ever take chances... and just keep the same old boring and 'safe' setlist WITH the same vocals... and Like I said before, she should have made new vocals for the tour, the day she recorded Map to My Heart!
