TOTALLY will work . We should print out tiny slips of paper to go with the balloon, so everyone knows what to do, in case we can't do the flyer thing.

 

psssh not outgoing? You went to Montreal by yourself, and look at all the friends you made. I'm sure you'll be able to hand out balloons. Great idea Chelsey, wish I could be there to help, but I can nooooooooot wait to hear all about it!

I think its a great idea, since were there early we could just pass them out before the show starts and people will tell people and it should work. My vote is a YES!

HELP SURPRISE CELINE!!

Please join the rest of the arena by blowing up a balloon during the final song: My Heart Will Go On. Then, when Celine sings her last note of this song, we will all wave and throw the balloons in the air. Celine will notice a sea of balloons and know this last show is truly a celebration! Don't forget and pass the word! =)

 

 

ofcourse, we only made 200 .. we made them small and put 4 on a page and cut them up, we were going to just pass out one per row and have them read it and pass it down. so we can cover 200 rows that way.. But if we could get the upper levels too.. oh that would be awsome!

I just bought 200 balloons of all different colors at walmart.. they were 1.48 for a pack of 40 so i bought 5 packs! I will probably get more depending on how many people actually end up participating! IF ANYONE would like to help out by making some more flyers that would be awsome!!!!!!!!!

 

Now, go buy balloons =)

yeah, it will be easy for girls.. we can stuff them in our massive purses.. if we meet up before walking in, we can stuff the guys' balloons in ours too and then give them to you when we get inside. plus.. jacket pockets! I'm keeping mine in the bags until i start passing them out too!

Omg.. it's almost showtime. I read earlier about 'popping' them but did you mean just passing the ballons around in the air? I think to get the most coverage in all sections we should pass the balloons and flyers as people enter the Qwest Center. Either before they get into the arena itself or right at the doors inside.

 

Also anyone with an upper level seat interested in that floor ticket I have available? I will seriously consider any price!

The following press release was issued to local ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox affiliates as well as the Omaha World Herald. There is a staff writer who is really good about writing articles about Celine, inlcuding the one from Monday!

 

After touring in South Africa, Japan, China, Australia, United Kingdom,

France, Germany and Canada superstar Celine Dion will conclude her

2008-2009 Taking Chances World Tour at Omaha’s Qwest Center on February

26th. Celine's biggest fans will come together on Feb 26th at 5PM to

welcome Celine as she enters the Qwest Center.

 

These devoted Celine fans hope this major event will receive the highest

media attention it deserves. Some of the fans that will take part of this

gathering have seen Celine perform overseas and will now make the journey

to the Big O for the final show. Some of the fans have already appeared on

major news outlets including the Oprah Winfrey Show. Celine's biggest fans

would be overjoyed at being able to get close to Celine in anyway

possible. Celine will get a big welcome for her final stop, and you are

WOWT who posted our story online originally missed us but then another crew came to talk to fans about our thoughts on the merger with Ticketmaster and Live Nation. I don't see a video for it, but here's the article with some quotations from Katelyn and Brittany.

 

Proposed Merger Has Music Fans Talking

Industry giant Ticketmaster wants to get even bigger. It's an issue that could significantly impact anyone who enjoys attending concerts and sporting events.

 

Ticketmaster already owns "Tickets Now," which sells secondary tickets. Now it wants to combine forces with "Live Nation.” But lawmakers worry the proposed deal would create a monopoly, while fans worry it will result in higher prices.

 

Thursday, Ticketmaster's C.E.O. hoped to alleviate concern, announcing if the deal went through, one of its largest venue operators would pull its business.

 

He and Live Nation's C.E.O. testified before a Senate Antitrust Committee this week saying the economy is taking it's toll on their industry, and a merger would keep them strong.

 

The first fans to arrive for Thursday night’s Celine Dione Show at the Qwest Center paid big money for the show. They’re part of the Celine Dion Forum, a group which travels all around the world to watch the singer perform.

 

One said she paid $209 a ticket. “Actually I bought three trying to get a front row ticket, so I'm up $600 into this. And I'm a broke college student."

 

The face value of the concert ranged between $47.50 and $135.00 through Ticketmaster, which adds its own fees.

 

Concert-goer Katelyn Wright from Richmond, Virginia said, "I work and save up for this. If it goes up, I mean they're already up so much. How much more can it go?"

 

The president of MECA which oversees the Qwest center tells Channel 6 News he does not see how the proposed deal would drive ticket prices up. Roger Dixon says the venue already works with both Ticketmaster and Live Nation, “So I don’t see how a merger can be a bad thing.”

 

From Capital Ave. to Capitol Hill, Michael Rapino, C.E.O of Live Nation, defended that stance, telling lawmakers the merger is, "far from harming consumers or promoters or artists, this deal will benefit them as we spur competition and innovation."

 

The two companies are power houses. Live Nation owns many venues and has exclusive deals with the likes of U2 and Madonna. Ticketmaster sells 80-percent of concert tickets according to some estimates.

 

Seal and Shakira are among the stars who have voiced support of a merger. Bruce Springsteen is against it.

 

Dion hasn't offered an opinion, but it doesn't matter to her traveling fans. "She's beautiful. She's real. She's genuine. She cares about all of us," said Brittany Hellmeister from Georgia. “I would still pay, no matter what."

 

Homer’s General Manager, Mike Fratt told Channel 6 News he believes a merger would create a company that’s too powerful in the industry. He said he does believe rising ticket prices would be a concern.

 

Fratt says he can't imagine that lawmakers will allow Live Nation and Ticketmaster to combine forces.
