It's official...I'll be there in June! So Jimena, you'll deffinitely have to give me all your tips about being a newbie up in Montreal ;) You'll be a pro by June haha. OMG I can't wait can't wait can't wait, this will be a whole new start for me. I've been stuck in such a rut, and now I get to move to my favorite place in the world and just go for it. And I get to finally learn french which has been a goal for as long as I can remember. I'm nervous I don't know anyone up there!, I'm excited, oh this is the craziest thing I've done yet! :whee: I'm gonna get a cute little apartment, that I hope I can see mount royal from lol...and I'm going to get a puppy, if allowed in my adorable apartment, and give it a french name like Jacque or some Luc or something lol. Once I'm done with my french classes, I will find a job that makes me happy and be living in a place that makes me happy. OMGOOOOSSSH. This is the life!!! I haven't been excited about life in over a year and finally I know this whole dark and gloomy post-college confusion of where do I go what do I do is over.

The best part is my family is totally supportive. I was afraid they wouldn't understand and they'd say it was a bad idea, but they really agree with me that this is a good move. They know how much I love Montreal, and know what a rough time I'm having here, with finding a job etc. I can't wait to tell everyone at home, I just want to wait til my student loans go through to be sure before I jinx myself....but I HAD TO TELL SOMEONE!!! I'm bursting with excitement lol. So that's my news.

and of course, again, good luck to you in February Jimena, I'll probably see you at the fan meetup. :)

I lived in Montreal for 7 months. Winter is really cold and dark.

I loved the city and the people, but I'd just say one thing: do it well plained, working in montreal without a work permit is pretty hard to find a job there. If you have the work permit just go for it.

Do you know how to obtain a work permit? I was under the impression that you had to find a job first who was willing to sponsor you? I'm confused haha.

Yes, you have to have someone to sponsor you to get a work permit. It might be an university, a programme at a languague school of working and studying (for paid jobs) etc But it all depends on the nacionaly.

American people don't need a visa to go to Canada --- and I don't know now but in the past years only an ID was okay to both ways --- but for people from countries that need a visa to go to Canada things are little more complicated. Anyway....

Montréal is a great city, I love it !!!! If you have a good opportunity to go there and live there - well planned and solid -- as Céline says: taking chances but not risks.

ugh, now I'm not sure it will be so soon, because I'm having trouble getting student loans since it's a non-credit program. If not by June, some time before the end of the year...but I'm hoping I won't have to wait that long.

That's so great you have the courage to take that kind of a step, move permanently to another country and have a new start there..! That's something I dream of too, moving to Canada one day, to Québec (because I love French), first studying there, then having a family there, and an own farm and so on. :D But for now I still have my studies here in Finland and not enough courage to do something as big as that. I know I would miss my family here like crazy if I went now. But who knows what will happen in the future, maybe I'll go for the dream some day..

Anyway good luck to you and hopefully you get to go there soon and don't have to wait til the end of the year!!

So tomorrow is my last day at work. A few weeks ago when I told my boss about my decision he offered me a raise so I wouldn't leave :o well it really nourished my ego but I said no. I had already made up my mind. I'm doing this.

In 5 more days I leave for Montreal :spaz: and Celine arrived there yesterday!

I just talked to my cousin on the phone she said it's very cold -25 C  i can't even imagine what that will feel like but i can't wait to see snow for the first time in my life

i'm very excited about the first week that's going to be all about meeting my friends from this forum and the concert (s)

I have practically everything I need now all I have to do is wait. My basketball team threw me a surprise bye-bye party a few days ago. They were all so sweet I think I leave very good friends here to. It's hard to say goodbye. But i know what lies ahead is very promising .

Oh another thing happened. Yesterday I was on msn and suddenly an old friend said hi to me. She and I used to work together like 2 years ago but then she moved to Montreal. I had lost contact with her. It's very funny how she just appeared out of nowhere asking me how i was and all. of course I told her i'll be in montreal for 6 months and all and she's so excited she offered to help me with everything i need. Sometimes I just think there are no coincidences in this life...maybe i'm crazy but when things like this happen I think God is saying to me "you're on the right track"

i'll keep you all posted. thank you all for your support and feedback. Laura, Kim I 'll be waiting for you

oh i read that cirque du soleil will debut a new show this summer in montreal! i'll be there yay!

here's some pics i found of montreal with snow...visualize...visualize...

OMG, those snow pictures got me so excited. I'm not sure if I'm able to move in June because of money, but it will happen. Plus I'll be there next week :) Canada is going to probably have to kick me out when the week is over. I won't want to leave lol. I'm so excited for you Jimena. Can't wait to hear all about how it is living up there. :D
