Successful musicians with minimal vocal and/or lyrical talent aren't really anything new. Neither are teen idols. It feels like they're a new thing because there's more of them on radio and such right now than ones with lots of talent, but they've all been around since pretty much the beginning of recorded music.

 

Makes one appreciate the true timeless talent of divas like Celine, Tina Turner, Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Billie Holiday, etc. even more.

they just make fun of me for having better taste than them, and being more mature then them .. Maybe I'm just a freak, but when I see Celine on negative lists or people crack jokes about me being a fan, it just doesn't phase me anymore. In fact, not only am I ok with people making fun of Celine, I can do it too and I can do it BETTER than most people who can't stand her. But I don't get made fun of much for being a Celine fan anymore because it's no longer a weak spot for people to pick at. Once people realized that negativity or jokes about Celine didn't bother me anymore, they died down because they knew they'd be wasting their breath trying to raise my blood pressure with "CELINE CAN'T SING AND SHE'S FUGLY!!!!!1"

 

I know it sucks to hear constant jokes/false urban legends/trashes against your favorite celebs. I'm not saying I never get annoyed over this kind of stuff. I admit, when people say that Celine only does boring old people ballads, my thought is "Have you heard any full albums by her besides ATW?" I admit, I can be a little upset that Celine's become the butt of a lot of jokes. Frankly, she has it better than some of my other obsessions like Judy Garland and Joan Crawford. No one's ever compared someone f***** up on drugs and/or alcohol to Celine like they've done with Judy. I doubt Rene-Charles will ever accuse Celine of beating him with a wire hanger and cutting off his hair in a major rage because she caught him play-acting in front of her mirror. (PS. And this isn't me saying that Mommie Dearest is a complete crock. I love Joan lots, but I do think she was a psycho enough that some of that book/movie is true. And even if it's not, BEST TRASHY MOVIE EVER. But I'm going way off subject...point is, that stuff has overshadowed her talent.)

 

Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble on and on and get all heated. But yes. People keep making these jokes and mean comments because they know it gets to us. If we stop allowing it to get to us and stop letting Celine and any other obsessions be our weak spots, maybe then they'll be forced to find other people to harp on.

1. She's not a skank like Miley Cyrus

 

2. She doesn't have a whiny voice like any of the Jonas Brothers

 

3. She actually sings about important things unlike most teen singers who only sing about

 

- A"ttly hawt guy that will never like me cuz im ugleh"

- A "gurl who broke up with meh for a jock so im emo"

- "Nbdy understands meh becuz every1 is poplar nd hawt but meh"

- "Parents r so ttly evil they ruin everythin"

- "if i believe im good enough then im good enough"

Come on now nobody should trash talk about what others like as long as it's a positive thing.

We don't like it when people bash Celine, but at the same time we should be respectful of other artists that some here may like. It bothers me when people are judgemental too and say untrue things.

 

Anyway,

I have loved Celine since I was 12 years old. I have heard it all the crap from casual friends to older adults.

I don't care what anybody says about Celine that I know isn't true or me for liking her.

Sure I get annoyed, but then I'm just like whatever and I go on.

Even if Celine isn't considered "in" that doesn't make any difference to me.

I love her and will never stop. She's the ideal role model and human being. I see myself like her in some ways. If you try to follow everything that is cool, then you won't be very happy with yourself later on. Be an individual. By the way, it doesn't hurt that I share my love of Celine and have attracted many people I have met over the years into liking her at least a little bit. Some already did like her.

 

Just ignore this stuff we don't need to get anyone upset over some stupid crap some young kids wrote about our sweet diva. If it were me I would just let this topic just fall off really far back or just close eventually.

i dont think liking celine means anyone thinks deeper hahaha most of celines lyrics are as deep as a puddle! most teenagers think deeper than celines music - at least in this country. so i think its a bit arrogant to class urself as 'above' them - and i was a celine fan as a teenager and i still managed to party hard! ha -celine is celine - and people generalise. doesnt mean its true - jsut like yr generalising that all teenagers love the disney lot...its 1%

I agree. The child-age/teenage singers these days do suck #ss. Not so much with Charice, but I'm tired of hearing of her. I'm glad that she was able to sing in front of 40,000 people at MSQ, but enough already. I search for Celine videos on Youtube and I get a bunch of Charice videos instead. I've been a fan of Celine's since MHWGO and I'll be a fan until the day I die! And I have one thing to say to those young singers who hate on Celine: KISS MY WHITE NINETEEN YEAR OLD MAN-#SS, LOOSERS!!!! Go to mimiville and don't come back! Ever! We don't want any!
