Celine - A world class prima donna?

First off I want to say that I saw Celine for the 3rd time (1st being in Vegas, 2nd at the Rockefeller Xmas tree taping) this past Friday in New Jersey and she was, again, phenomenal. But that's not why I'm writing. I just recently joined this website and have been meaning to post something but have had difficulty figuring out what to say. Until today........

It speaks of how Celine is a world class prima donna. That she has to have 11 bodyguards on stage at all times. That's funny. When I saw her she had only dancers, musicians and backup singers. If she did have bodyguards they weren't noticeable to me. And what if she did? It's a crazy world out there people. She SHOULD have bodyguards!

 

I personally thought this article was a load of BS and they were just trying to get to people because of her concert at the Garden last night. A load of crap really. People aren't stupid. They can see right through things. I have now seen her three times and had the extreme pleasure of meeting her once. She NEVER gave me the feeling that she was a Diva. She was extremely gracious and genuinely thankful to her fans.

 

This article annoyed me and I wanted to share it with all of you.

I guess that people feel the need to bash her and make up rubbish about her because she is so loving, gracious, compassionate and anything-but-a-diva in real life!! Because she doesnt fall out of nightclubs at 2 in the morning like Amy Winehouse, or do drugsand ruin her voice like Whitney, or go completely off the rails like Britney, people feel the need to criticise her because she is so down to earth and adored by all her fans!! Articles like this used to really make me cross but we know a little more of the real Celine and we all know how hard she works and tries to please everyone - she is never going to! Thank you for sharing this article! It made an interesting read!!

I have had the good fortune to meet her on 2 occassions and not once did I see anything Diva about her. So what she has 11 bodyguards who can blame her in this day and age. Not all fans want have good intentions there are some weirdos out there who want to hurt stars. Look at what happened to Oasis recently. A fan was able to get on stage and attack one of the brothers. So she asks for certain foods hey let me backstage and I'd buy them for her.

She has remained humble and gracious to her fans and I love her.

Lol I don't find all her requests and such over the top really.. (maybe the one about the white black or navy glasses only though.) and it's only clever to have 11 bodyguards, I mean, I'm sure there's things I would do if they weren't there. And if we were all swimming in millions of dollars, I'm sure we'd want a little extra Bavarian fig or two.

Well, we all know there are a lot of people out there who don't care about other people as long as they're able to bring a good story.

 

So my advice is. Don't listen to it and don't make your picture of Céline be ruined. I mean, you know her better than they do. And in addition you've met her (You are SO lucky by the way )

I this is another example of sexism when it comes to female celebrities. I mean, look P. Diddy is more of a prima donna than any female artist outthere and how about that show "I want to work for Diddy" where he treats the people who are compeating to be his personal assistant like crap? That's ok, nobody says nothing, but when a female does it, she's gets labeled a *CENSORED*, a diva, oh she's difficult. If she was Charles Dion, instead of Celine Dion, nobody would make a big deal about it. I mean, look Madonna hadn't even turn 50 yet and all the press talked about was the fact that she's about to turn 50. It's wrong and it's stupid.

Well, as for this article, it's not the first time where they don't find any other subject to write about concerning Céline so they start to 'create' their own theories and slag her...

 

I say, she has her money which she earns by working damn hard! So she also has right for have her own wishes, right? When we earn some money, we want to spend it on things we like as well! We buy the food we enjoy etc.

She can afford much so why not?! Give her a break, all you stupid, bored journalists!

 

And about bodyguards - ok, she has more of them, that's true. Maybe not 11 - I think this is a number of security during the concert, those guys sitting all around the stage etc. But even if she would really have 11 or even 20 bodyugards, I don't wonder and I don't bother!

 

After all, she's a fragile lady. And even if she were a big guy, there are still loads of weirdos, like someone before me said, crazy fans, psychopates (spelling?) or even haters... you name it.

 

So being such a famous, well-known person, she simply needs protection, that's obvious.

 

And I can just say what I've said to Jeremy and Vincent when I chatted with them in Paris before one of the shows: "You're doing a great job for her! Keep it up! I know she needs you!" They both cheered, smiled and actually went a bit ashamed that I really think this. But that's what I really mean!

You know, I'm not going to lie, I had a big fear that when I actually got the chance to meet her, she would be rude and ruin my whole perception of her. However, I was lucky enough to meet her Saturday night at Nassau, and there is no doubt in my mind that she really is the kind hearted person she seems to be. What other artist, really, would take the time to walk through the audience greeting fans after a long show WHILE body guards are dragging you out? She listened to what I had to say, hugged and kissed me, put my face in her hands, and was able to ignore the billion other people around her for a split second to have a moment with me. Yeah, Céline is faaaar away from being rude! That's a fact!

The only time when you can experience 'not-so-nice' Céline is when she's bad mooded/sick but hey, that's totally normal, she's a human being, right?

When we feel sick or are in bad mood, we are not too talkative or don't wanna bother with take much care of many things and people we don't really know.

That all seems a bit far fetched to me LOL. She has the right to have as many staff as she wants- after all, she is paying them! And I've seen far worse requests from other celebrities. She works hard, why shouldn't she have whatever makes her comfortable? I doubt she'd scream and cry and refuse to perform though, if she didn't get what she wanted. These articles make her seem unprofessional and b*tchy...which she is not.

Please this is just the media being their usual over-the-top selves! I'm pretty sure every celeb has body gurads it's just that Celine doesn't have scandal attached to her name that they think this is an issue and part of the body guard thing would no doubt have a lot do do with the little man; Rene-Charles. And as Dionesque said there are too many psychopaths, haters and crazy people out there to even risk it. Now some articles are saying unless Ms Dion does not have her "bavarian figs and French cherries" she will not set a foot on that stage... give me a break! Celine... leave 20,000 people stuck in an arena because she did not get her figs? I don't think so, just like everybody else in this world she probably has her favourite foods and little rituals and requested these fruits and people labeled her as a Prima Donna, they need to get over it there are plenty worse out there

Musicians always add extra picky stuf to their riders to make sure the people creating the show are actually paying attention. Even smaller, lesser known artists do this. They don't get everything listed. I haven't seen this 360 swival chairs at ANY show I've been to. I just think what is listed, is just in case they ever actually do need it. Not an every night thing.

Another piece of info that proves that Celine is anything BUT a prima donna. While I was messaging away to random people in search of a photo from the Celine show at Nassau, I ended up messaging someone who is a personal friend of Mego's and many of her band members. (She had pictures to prove this ) She told me the main reason the show is so successful is because of how loyal Celine is to her band. She treats them all with respect and they are like one big family. She said "Her kindness and loyalty to her crew is one of the reasons why the show is so flawless - it really is a labor of love." So were not just being biased fans in saying Celine is super down to earth considering her fame. She really is all she seems to be and more. Just thought you guys would enjoy that info.

Yes, Celine does have many bodyguards and an extravagant entourage. Many times, there are even police cars leading her caravan of black Suburbans. Although she is a very kind person, she has to be protected.
