smw Posted September 14, 2008 at 04:46 PM Posted September 14, 2008 at 04:46 PM If it's a new ballad - it better be up there in I Surrender territory. And not in the lowly land of Reason I Go On.It's rather futile to believe this will be something a la "I Surrender"... especially considering the specific atmosphere all songs on TCH are having. The screamers have been ALL left out (i.e. Map To My Heart and The Reason I Go On - both MAGNIFICENT but still left out due to the concept surely). It may be however that There Will Come A Day is sung the way it didn't ineed fit on TCH and that's why they've left it out. I still let the thought wager whether the song is actually another "All Becaouse Of You" or another "Map To My Heart" in terms of quality. Weirdly so, I know but I feel somehow it may be something actually quite good. To me - there is a significant difference between POWER BALLADS and ballads. Power Ballads:It's All Coming Back To Me NowThen You Look At MeI SurrenderThe Power Of LoveThe Reasonetc. And then there are the ballads - which are very nice, but not vocally amazing. Either way - I'll be happy for new material. I just love fresh songs - and if it's a same old, regular formula ballad - it'll be a bit depressing. Quote
fred Posted September 14, 2008 at 05:02 PM Posted September 14, 2008 at 05:02 PM (edited) This could go either way. But don't expect I Surrender. His most famous songs are Sometimes by Britney Spears and Unbreakable by Westlife (actually a fine track for being westlife). And even though it leans towards something a la TRIGO I hope it takes another turn and get really high quality like RNTTRO. However his sound is quite electronic so we shall expect a very "well produced" track with loads of electronic insturments and catchy and cheesy refrain. But in an acceptable way. I am looking forward to hearing it. This is one of his neatest songs: This was the first single for the idol winner some years ago. Performed by the second place here: Was a huge hit This also was a hit and the winner song for Idol also some years ago: /fred Edited September 14, 2008 at 05:10 PM by fred Quote Peace and love to all.

smw Posted September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM Posted September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM I am still a firm believer that the arrangement for A Song For You was beautiful - but Celine's vocals are horrific on that song. I understand the raw emotion - but she captures raw emotion much better when she sings intimate songs in a vocally-trained manner (Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered - Nature Boy - etc.) Quote

They haven't released a music video since Taking Chances (I'm ignoring the sh!tty 'Alone' live video they miserably put together and the EOM video they released on Yahoo...) When would she have time to record the video? Its terribly clear now that Sony isn't going to promote TC OR this new album at all. I've seen non-fans (who wouldn't touch a Céline album) actually digging Reveal and Ten Days (not your average Dion ballad). It's perhaps just a light minority demanding only ballads from her, and that fan base is undependible and trades Céline in for the nearest copy of Westlife's latest album. /fred Edited September 15, 2008 at 11:05 PM by fred Quote Peace and love to all.

unicorn Posted September 16, 2008 at 03:01 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 03:01 PM I think that the song will be a rockier ballad(I hope so!) like Taking chances or Map to my heart.
