I watched Celine's interview once again (she's just too beautiful, couldn't help it ). To add to what I translated before: the reporter asks her if she'll prepare in any special way for the concert or anything and she replies that the best way for her to prepare is not to think about it too much. She says she's always preparing for something, and now she's on holiday, and the best thing for her to do is let go of all that and recharge her batteries, so she can be fresh for the show.

When he asked her about how long the concert will be, because Paul McCartney's was 2h40m, she said that for her, with any show she does, the most important thing is quality, not quantity and there will be extremely talented artists from Quebec as guests and it will be great for sure. This videos are all about Quebec's 400th anniversary and it should belong in that topic. Celine looks incredible, she's just so gorgeous! Very funny too. She's kinda pissed off that the reporter is trying to make a competion between her and Paul McCartney, but handles it with grace and fun. Rene doesn't say that Paul is the best. He says he's the best for him, because he's his biggest fan. He says Paul McCartney is in a class of his own, and no one can touch him, in his eyes. I understand that, it's the way I (we) feel about Celine. Of course, as Celine's biggest fan, I wish he'd say something about Celine too, that she's great or something, especially since she's his wife. On the other hand, had he said something like that, I bet the paper would have come out the next day saying "Rene says Celine is better than anyone" or something like that. He's a very smart man. He loves Beatles and McCartney and he chose to express that love so that people (and especially the press) understand there's no competition and that's not why he was upset with the tickets. He also says it was not his idea to distribute tickets like that and he was upset because the committee for the 400th anniversary thought about giving completly free access to the McCartney concert, but not to Celine's, and that wasn't fair. He was also upset because everyday he read in the papers that people of Quebec were having trouble getting hold of the free tickets distributed and there were a lot of angry fans, because they couldn't get tickets, after waiting 10 years for Celine to perform in Quebec again.

Rene also said she and him saw McCartney in concert in 1998 (I think) and that they were both crying. And he said he saw him 2 years ago in Vegas. Celine joked about it, she said Rene is McCarney's number 1 fan and he preffered going to see his concert instead of coming to support her, on her 399th concert, but she and him will have a talk about that later She is so funny! I can see her teasing him about it and acting all angry (jokingly) because he likes McCartney best

He said something about being able to buy or rent the video with McCartney's concert. I think that will be possible for Celine's concert too. I would love to see that. Can anyone from Quebec digg into it and find out how we can get hold of the concert, please? If I can buy it from here, I wouldn't care how much it costs, I want it!

How cool is it that they have these golf tournament where their whole families can get together?! Rene joked, he said there were 10 Angelils and 250 Dions at the tournaments

I give the year here (that was said by Céline) because you didn't seem sure BUT more importantly I though I would take this opportunity to congratulate you on your translation from french. WOW! It's VERY VERY accurate, almost word by word, the context, the feelings and all...impressive really! Thank you! If French isn't your first language, t'es vraiment exceptionnelle en traduction. I think she handled the stupid question very well and I think she remained polite(because she is ) but also because this journalist has not a bad reputation and is usually nice and loves Céline. He always says she's a monument and so on... I think he was too excited by her coming to Québec and impressed here by Céline having this chance to be the one to interview her and consequently goofy(maladroit). Anyway elle l'a remis dans le droit chemin disons! At the end you can see and hear him say (Elle a du car...caractère!) with a big smile! I think next time he will be more careful and prepare better his questions maybe. But than again Céline is family and sometimes they think they can say anything to her and be very familiar. because she's always nice, open and all...

Merci beacoup! Now back to English cause I don't want the English readers on this English section to be mad at me. Thanks for your compliments . French is not even my second language My native language is Romanian, I learnt English second and French 3rd. Long numbers bug me in French... Also, she also said Rene went to see McCarney in Vegas instead of coming to her 319th show, not 399 like I said before When I watched the interview a second time, I noticed my mistake.

I just watched the interview and I didn't like it. She should have been more specific about what she is up to and about what she is really planning. It's getting annoying when the interviewers ask her about her free time and family she can speak like a freaken barrel organ but heaven forbid they ask her what she is planning for her future MUSICALLY! Oh, no, just DON't go there, journalists.

 

She could have easily erased the interviewer's intention to stir up the drama about McCartney performing before her by simply giving more specific information about her show and not divulge into the same diplomatic sea of explanations ("the heart counts, the quality" etc). It just goes to show how much she cares for the music. Nooooooooot!
