Javito Posted November 3, 2009 at 11:59 AM Posted November 3, 2009 at 11:59 AM Wonderful new acquisitions! But honestly, it's beyond me why they keep on releasing MCs. Because they are collective items Nobody gave a cent for the future of vinyl records and there you see them, now they are becoming greatly popular again as collectible editions and each day more and more artists are releasing their albums in vinyl! (except Céline ) But AFAIK, in 2007 there were 3 countries in the world that still produced cassettes (Korea, Thailand and Malaysia). Now they no longuer release them, so I think cassette format is history now! Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
J-Man Posted November 3, 2009 at 12:05 PM Posted November 3, 2009 at 12:05 PM (edited) It is a sad thing that music is generally available on CD and digitaly now. We had a few great years there where things were available on LP, Cassette and CD.Oh well, time and tide waits for no man. Der_Griffon Posted November 3, 2009 at 03:25 PM Posted November 3, 2009 at 03:25 PM Actually, vinyls are a totally different story. Some people (myself including) like them much better than CDs because of the analogue sound, which I find much softer and warmer than the digital sound of the CD. Vinyls are also widely used by professional DJs. Also, most artists still release Vinyls (like Madonna). Nowadays one can buy new vinyl players almost everywhere as well. I also find it a real pity that Sony doesn't release vinyls of Celine anymore. When was her last vinyl released? As an album, I can recall only FIY and as a single, maybe IDAN? Quote http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/Der_Griffon/SIGNATURE-1-1-1.jpg March 15th and 16th 2011, Las VegasThank you Celine and thank you friends! I truly had the time of my life!
Davey84 Posted November 3, 2009 at 03:59 PM Posted November 3, 2009 at 03:59 PM FIY was the last album, TTWII/IWYTNM was the last 12" vynil single, ANDHC/IA was the last 7" vynil single. but EJTEA was also released as a 12" vynil promo. Der_Griffon Posted November 3, 2009 at 04:27 PM Posted November 3, 2009 at 04:27 PM There are vinyls with IDAN remixes as well.I also have a 12" IA. Quote http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/Der_Griffon/SIGNATURE-1-1-1.jpg March 15th and 16th 2011, Las VegasThank you Celine and thank you friends! I truly had the time of my life!
Javito Posted November 3, 2009 at 05:48 PM Posted November 3, 2009 at 05:48 PM (edited) Yes, FIY was the last one, an they released it in a strictly limited edition (some copies had a sticker on the cover who claims to be a pressing of only 650 copies worldwide ) But I have also an IDAN 12" with remixes, I think that was the last 12". What amazes me the most, is that since Unison, Céline never had her albums released in a proper vinyl edition. "Celine Dion" 1992 album was already hard to find in vinyl format, it wasn't released worldwide but only in the UK and Greece (¿? ), Colombia and Brazil. "The Colour Of My Love" was already a strictly limited pressing on vinyl, probably the same quantities as for FIY double LP, and these two were only distributed in France and Germany, not in the english speaking countries. SO weird So I wonder why Sony treated Céline this way with this format. I guess Sony always supported Mariah Carey on this issue, because she began at the same year as Céline with the english market and they had to decide whom to support with this format... You know, Mariah has always released every album and single in her discography on vinyl since the beggining of her career, and she was in the same label as Céline (and she continues to release everything on vinyl today). And not to mention the most strange thing of the case: why D'eux never had a vinyl edition? In 1995 vinyl was still very popular, and more even in France, where there has always been (and still there is) a strong culture and appreciation for the vinyl format not only for collectors, but also for the general buyer!? Can you imagine how much more would have sold D'eux if it would have been available for vinyl buyers? I can't explain it Edited November 3, 2009 at 05:52 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

J-Man Posted November 5, 2009 at 06:05 PM Posted November 5, 2009 at 06:05 PM (edited) Wonderful new acquisitions! But honestly, it's beyond me why they keep on releasing MCs. I think this format in Asian countries is still popular, because they are cheaper than cds and maybe not everyone has a cd player! I love the TC cassette John! If i knew it was that pretty, i would have bought it earlier! LOL I love the mexican promo too... and the LP the cardsleeve promo for HTE is pretty cool!! that vcr.... BYLM, TLYM and IYA which versions are that?? the lives ones and the 'in studio' one for IYA? Okay, so checked it out and can confirm that To Love You More is a live performance, but not the Live In Memphis version. It is taken during the D'eux Tour. Looks like it was filmed after Live a Paris because her hair has grown out a bit more, but is not longer. She is wearing the black catsuit. There isn't any speaking at the start, but at the end she does thank Taro, who is wearing a red jacket, and it is obviously for an English speaking audience. It feels like an indoor concert to me. I will try to sort out putting it up on the multimedia section, if it isn't already there. Anyone know when and where this was filmed? All the other videos are the official videos, yes including Because You Loved Me! So I'm Your Angel is the regular one as seen on All The Way DVD Edited November 5, 2009 at 06:52 PM by J-Man Quote http://www.powerofthemusic.com/other/FORUMSIG1.png
