Xtina's album was released in June whereas Katy Perry's album was released in August; basically Katy had 2 months to listen to new music or take ideas from this and that... Plus, her California Gurls song is a copycat of Tik Tok of Kesha; if you take the lyrics of California Gurls and put them on Kesha's tik tok music you would see that they are FREAAKIshly similar

Well i'm not going to argue about California Gurls. I've always thought California Gurls was similar. Same with DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love Again by Usher. I think all 3 songs sound similar because they're all produced by Max Martin/Dr. Luke, and they haven't been very versatile lately it seems (although I HATE TiK ToK and love California Gurls and DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love Again).

 

Katy finished her album in April, Woohoo premiered in May. I doubt Katy is listening to everyone's new music, a lot of artists choose to not do that and do their own thing. And also, Woohoo wasn't even properly released so again, I doubt she heard it. The sound isn't very similar either. Woohoo is more chanty R&B in the vein of Hollaback Girl while Peacock is more fast paced pop like Mickey.

 

And singing about the same themes is nothing new. Most songs have the same themes with variations on them.

Just got this cd the other day and I'm loving it! I'm not really a huge Katy Perry fan, but this cd has been in my car player for 3 days straight

My favorites are Firework and Circle The Drain. But Last Friday Night and Peacock are pretty friggin catchy!
