Young Children and Celine

I thought this would be an interesting topic to talk about. I live with my 5 year old cousin who is obviously aware of my love for Celine, she walks in and there's either a DVD or CD playing and then there's the books and photos around, so she's no stranger to her, she knows all the words to every song (all my fault :msn-tongue: ), first she was like "oh no not Celine AGAIN" but she's warmed to her so much that she's now obsessed especially after watching Celine the movie. I know the movie is not an accurate representation but it really helped to put the whole thing in perspective for her and now she can't stop she's sooooo fascinated with all things Celine now  ! She couldn't understand the whole "canine Dion" thing and marrying Rene the age gap, the 13 siblings so full of questions so for the past hour this little 5 year old has been intently looking over every page of For Keeps while watching A New Day DVD it's so funny everyone thinks I've created a mini-me  So has your Celine love rubbed off onto a child? It's so adorable new little fans :D !

Both my children 5yr old boy and 10 yr old girl love Celine.....My 10 yr old is coming with me to see her very first Celine Dion concert this summer she is so excited. My daughter has Celine music in her Ipod, my son wants a poster from the concert (he wanted to come with us but TeamCeline only offers 2 tickets).......I'd rather have my kids listen to Celine and not the crap on radio today......By the way neither like Mariah.

My 13 year old brother is very much into indie scene, with the exception if Celine which is entirely down to me!

He has 3 posters in his room, one of Kurt Cobain, one of Al Pacino as Scarface, and one of Celine that he bought when we went to the O2!

Hi Denelle!!! Congrats, great topic!!!

Well, I was really unsucessful in the past, trying to recrute my nephews (they both like Heavy metal now), but things are better with my daughter. She's only three, but sice she was in the womb she has listened to Celine (the Miracle album back then)

Now she listens to Celine all the tiem, and even though she still prefers child songs (specially XUXA), she like Celine a lot, and recognizes her.

well I was only 7 or 8 when I became a fanatic

I think that would be something different as the theme Denelle intended, but that would be interesting too.

This topic refers to young children, and how they have became Celine fans, wether we intended it to happen or sometimes just because we are so huge fans

I became a fan of Celines when I was 9 or 10 when I saw her on t.v on the grammys when she was singing My Heart Will Go On. I was like who is this singer sing with so much guesto and full of pasion. I got chills from that and I've been a fan of hers from then on. I can still remmeber that, its been ages ago but wow Its crazy how time flys.   Edited by A New Day Has Come

LOL this made me laugh just thinking about how my son is a closet Celine fan(he is 11) :D

He has been bombarded with her since he was in my tummy! He knows loads of songs due to them always being on in my car,on the shower cdplayer,on my cd player in the bedroom, computer, etc, lol!iv even put some on his mp3 player(his request!)He is no way as big a fan as me and in some ways i think he has been made to like her by me but hey i dont MAKE him sing along in the car....but he does! :D

CHOCOLATE is the answer....I don't give a damn what the question was!

Well I've been a fan since I was born practically. Beauty and the Beast came out in 1991, which was the year I was born, I watched the movie non-stop until I was five, and I still loove it soo much!

But I didnt become a fanatic until I was 6, when Titanic came out!! :flowers:

I've sorta turned my 13 year old brother into a Celine "liker" sometimes when a song comes on, I'll catch him lip singing the words. :sofunny:

Making of Celine Dion Fans: They Can't Run, They Can't Hide, They're Living in the Shadow of CELINE  At least that's what it is like for the kids in my family :D

My cousin is a little traumatised by the whole Celine being run over when she was a child she's just had question after question she's very interested in it all. And this morning she asked me for UNISON, a true fan in the making we've had I Feel Too Much on repeat for ever! :)

That's so cute Grobandion starting her early on Celine :D

At least we know there will be a generation of children in the future who still have taste in music, thanks to our influence ^_^

My daughter Kailey who is 5 years old, LOVES Celine. She has been a fan since she was three. We listen to her everywhere we go together and and she always points her out on the TV. So cute. She knows all the words to "Taking Chances." I adore that we can share this.

A fantastic topic; I'm with ya for sure, Denelle. In my case it's my 5 year old niece who has taken up a passion of her own for Celine. Her and I have been very close over the years despite the distance between us (she's in Montreal and I'm now in Calgary). In recent months, I've made several trips to Montreal to help care for my father who is battling Leukemia. I stay with my sister and her family, and I bring all my Celine CDs, DVDs, etc along with me.

On my one of my first trips this Spring, she and I watched the CBS special...she was hooked! In May, I bought some Celine books/mags off of someone on EBay who happened to live in Montreal. I asked if I could save the shipping and pick up instead and he said ok. My niece made the trip to the East end of Montreal with me, and on the way back she asked if she could look at the books. There were two copies of the 25th Anniversay book, so I told her she could look at one if she was very careful. I explained to her how precious they were to me and how they would be collectors items. Well, it was so very cute how delicately she leafed through the pages and all the great questions she asked as she saw all the changes Celine had been through. When I got back to Calgary, I decided that instead of offering the 2nd book to another forum member, I would send it to her. So I dedicated it with a note about how Celine's god-given voice and beautiful spirit have given me hope over the years, and how I wished for all good things for her as she grows. My sister told me she went crazy when she received it in the mail, and now the book sits in plastic cover always beside her bed!

On one of my most recent trips, dad bought my sister and I an Ipod as a thank you for being there for him. I gave my niece my MP3 stock full of Celine albums; she doesn't leave home without it now! And...about two weeks ago when my dad was sleeping a lot trying to battle an infection, I took my niece on my first venture to Charlemagne, Celine's birthplace. Even though I spent 30 years of my life in Montreal, I was busy battling old demons and never became the fan I wanted to be then. So...I got to share this great little discovery with my niece; we saw boulevard Celine Dion, the Celine sphere at the corner of the blvd and Notre Dame street, her old home on Notre Dame, Riviere des Prairies behind the now empty commercial building that used to be her home, etc. While walking around taking pictures, my niece said to me, "aunty, I really, really want to meet Celine in real life," and so I told her, "Ya sweetie, so do I, so do I!"

So now I'm thinking that I might take her to the concert at the end of August. My sister is a little worried about that, but I know many of you have brought young ones to a Celine concert. We could put in some ear plugs to protect her ears, right? What do you guys think?

What a beautiful story, I'm sorry about your dad, your niece sounds adorable! It's so great she's taken a liking to her, I didn't bring my cousin to the concert as she has only become super obsessed most recently but I think your niece would love it and she'll probably rip out the ear plugs in excitement I know my little fan here would

Okay so I worked at an after school program for kids, and I was shocked at how they didn't know who Celine was. One of them was looking at my phone and opened it and said "WHO'S THAT?" and I answered "Celine Dion :w00t:" and they were all "Oh. Never heard of her."

Since my mom works at the elementary school here I told her to pass word on to the music teacher that he wasn't doing a good job, and she actually did LOL.

So maybe they might learn something about her in the future :P

So all of you have a kid that likes Celine a little bit.In the other hand i haven't anyone

well I know that I have no children but I have "rubbed off" some of my obsession to others around me. I started liking celine about a year ago and now it is the only music that I really listen to. My best friend always hears me singing celine's music at school and so I let her borrow some of my cd's. Now she really loves celine's music as well. She isn't as crazy as I am about it but she does really seem to enjoy it. Also my little sister hears celine playing all the time at home because of me, she now likes some of her songs too.... :D

As I read this I had a tear in my eye as it was so sweet. I hope that your niece's interest grows with time, until she's just as big a Céline fan as we are!!!

I have a little boy who will be four years old next month. He has heard Céline from the day he was concieved. If he feels like it he will try to sing the words to ALL my Céline songs. If I'm listening to her songs on my MP3 player he will ask to listen and sing along even if we are on a bus!

I'm 24 years old next month and have been a fan of Céline for over ten years now and cannot believe that people hate her as she is so talented!

Céline has the face of a Goddess and the voice of an Angel!!!

Whether life is good or bad Céline is always there. She has always been and will always be the ONE artist that I can listen to no matter how I feel. Céline's music is the soundtrack to my life and I don't what I would do without it somedays!!!

Life isn't defined by your fear, but by how deal with it!

all your stories are so amazing guys!! i myself am having more trouble! i have 3 younger brothers from 12 to 17 and they are much harder to convert lol!! my oldest brother who has just turned 17 is so infuriated by my love of celine - he doesnt hate her, he just has rubbish taste in music and therefore doesnt like her music. However, he heard the song alone just after TC came out and loves it! he even sings along when he thinks he is alone in his bedroom but i so stand outside the door and listen to him! its so funny but hopefully i am making some headway.

Having just written all that i re-read the title of the topic and realise that he is not a "young child"!!! hahaha! oh well!

you can guarantee that when i have children, they will be brought up on celine!!
