Why exactly can't Celine own her own label??

I know we all want a new video, but lets be real here...no one even plays music videos anymore for any artist. It kind of a waste of money and doesn't really do anything promotion wise. I think they don't really care about promotion for TCh because Celine's selling out concerts left and right. They're making BILLIONS. I think they just need to throw some of the songs on to the big fall shows and get the album selling again in the fall. For the most part though, money comes in from concerts. CDs don't really sell as much these days. It sort of makes sense to concentrate more on that..

It came out last fall and will be re-released this fall as part of Sony's ever-wise way of overlooking an awesome album for promotion and stretching out any spotlight the album may potentially be able to get.

Furthermore, Céline is givin MILLIONS to Sony Music pockets with a money that they don't deserve!

 

Then again, as I've said before (and others as well here on this forum) when an artist reaches a certain level of success and legend status as Celine has, no emphasis is really placed on promoting singles. The albums will continue to be successful as Taking Chances has, but I guess there is no need for Celine to prove anything anymore.

 

And here we go again... We perfectly know, the whole world knows already that Céline doesn't have to prove anything in music! But can't we have good singles, remixes, videos, bonus material, just for the pleasure of enhancing her music?? Does Madonna or Mariah need to prove anything neither? So then why they are still hugely promoted with tons of singles, remixes, bonus goodies etc for the fans? Why Céline Dion fans have to stick with 1 poor single of a great album? (I can't count the disaster of Eyes On Me and Alone of course because they haven't been released anywhere but in the UK!). And why we get Céline rarities with an eye dropper, little by little?

 

Its just not fair how record companies of Madonna and Mariah treat her and how Sony Music treats the woman who is supposed to have been sold more than 200 albums in history, and that is a problem of the stupid Sony Music with Céline, not of Céline herself! (though she/René should have took a decission many years ago and leave them because they don't do their work!. Can't they see that they doesn't support her music anymore??)

The problem is that René and Céline seem to be BLIND with this stupid company or their team. A team that doesn't care about Céline's albums since 2002.

 

And remember what Celine has said before... She has said that her job is just to record her music and she does not really get involved in what the record company does in order to get the albums into the market.

 

Perhaps thats the mistake. She was used to rely all the decissions on the team that began with her in Unison (1990, people! ), but that team is not the same now, and they have moved into other things. So then who is going to care about promotion if Céline doesn't have a good team, neither she herself cares about what song is playing now in the radios?

 

And if Céline and René don't get involved anymore in promotion, that is because its supposed to be the duty of the recording company, which in this case, doesn't do anything to help Céline's career

Well, I think it would be really nice to hear Celine's new music played on the radio. I mean, I heard IACBTMN played the other night. It's a good song and everything, but seriously she deserves way more recognition for her newer music.

LOL! That's funny, and quite true! Sony are just not good at promoting their artists...not only Celine either, two of my other favourite artists signed with them and have had similar problems. It feels like every second thread around here is just complaining about it though...and it's not changing anything...

it really is such a shame that sony doesn't actively promote TC. fade away would surely be a hit! i recently returned from australia and got my dj friend to play it at a club there and everyone was out on the dance floor loving it, it was so great! and people were shocked to find out it was celine because its not her typical ballad. i'm in texas for a few weeks now and am trying to get another friend to play at a club during his set because its such a good song!

If I wasn't such a close follower of Celine, I wouldn't even know that she was still making music. You hear nothing from radio; you see nothing from music channels. No, dhena, what I mean is that there's this "perception" among the non-fans w/c is based on Celine's long-time absence from radio and music TV.
