scorp82 Posted June 6, 2008 at 04:11 AM Posted June 6, 2008 at 04:11 AM (edited) I don't know where to begin. I know this sounds cliche but Celine gives me " a world to believe in", and she is the "reason I go on". I think "a world to believe in" says it all. She is there for me when no one else can be, and she is the big sister I'll never have. I have grown up with her for the past 12 years, even though it really began with "Beauty and the Beast", but I was 6, and even though I didn't know who she was, I never forgot that voice. My life has been really stressful lately with finishing up college, working full time, taking summer classes, family problems, owning a horse (outrageously expensive, but extremely rewarding) and an obnoxious roommate. Whenever I'm in my car or about to fall asleep at night I put on Celine, and I instantly calm down. She is a rarity in this world, and with a world with so much uncertainty, Celine is a comforting constant of beauty and grace. She's as real as a gets. It is very interesting that you mention that when you were 6 you listened to Beauty and the Beast and never forgot her voice. I remember when I was 14 years old and heard Celine's cover of Natural Woman on the radio. I did not even realize that Celine was singing the song after a few years later. But I never forgot her voice and I kept wondering for a long time, "Who is that woman? She sounds incredible!" Then, when I discovered The Power of Love and To Love You More I was completely mesmerized with Celine. I remember seeing Celine perform To Love You More on the All the Way special in 1999 (at this point, I was starting to truly discover Celine) and I was in awe. Even "worse" I remember listening to It's All Coming Back To Me Now and not knowing it was Celine, LOL! All I knew was that I loved the song and I asked my brother if he knew who was singing the song. He said, "I think it's Celine Dion." And then it all made sense to me! It made even more sense when I figured out that Celine was the woman singing Natural Woman. I guess I had liked Celine even before I knew who she was! All I know is that I greatly admire and respect Celine. I absolutely love Celine's music. I am very selective and picky about everything I like, including my musical choices. I only tend to listen to very talented singers with great vocal prowess... Though my musical selections are limited, for the most part, I only listen to Celine... Not only is she extremely talented, but she is humble and down to earth. She possesses such a great level of genuineness and honesty that most people lack. She is the epitome of womanhood and motherhood. She truly is an inspiration and role model to us all. Edited June 6, 2008 at 04:12 AM by scorp82 Quote

Jacqui Posted June 6, 2008 at 05:54 AM Posted June 6, 2008 at 05:54 AM I've been reading this thread for about a week, and thinking about it all- I love writing, but I'm yet to come up with good enough words to answer the question. Anything I say makes me feel kind of stupid and vulnerable, but I'll try...It's like in a way, she's always been there- from the Disney movies I saw as a little child, to the awards ceremonies I watched when I was 10, and the girls nights I had with my friends singing her songs when I was a teenager.... until eventually I just kind of fell in love with her. (Feel free to not take that in a romantic way lol...) The first time I saw the video for A New Day Has Come, I knew things were about to change. All my life, I'd been looking for that one person, to be not just an amazing singer, but a loveable human, a role model...and someone who wouldn't let it all go to their head in a few years, and let their fans down! I guess I wanted to be inspired, and made to believe that really good people existed. Sometimes it seems like nobody has faith in love, or the right values in such a messed up world, but she does. And so, in a way I've loved her more every day since then! Her music is like a soundtrack to my life, but the way she treats others, the things she does, and the way she always knows just what to say, gives me strength and makes me feel peaceful. She makes me laugh and smile just be being herself- so many people are too afraid to do that. There were times I got distracted by other "celebrities" which really only led to me being upset by the stupid things they did, and feeling stupid for not paying more attention to Celine all along. I don't know what else to say. I wouldn't say she's like a Mother or a sister or a friend to me...she's kind of everything...it's a different kind of love...something else that can't really be defined. Quote
cmcdaori Posted June 6, 2008 at 09:50 AM Posted June 6, 2008 at 09:50 AM I am so glad ALL the people on here can understand how we feel about Céline........because it is impossible to explain it to someone who doesnt feel the same. To me: Céline is always there, no matter what....no matter what time of the day or night it is. She has kept me company to many times to count. When I listen to her music its like chatting to an old (and very dear) friend and its the most consistent thing in my life. If people think Im crazy....well I think they are crazy for not feeling like us, they dont know what they are missing. I listen to Céline every single day of my life no matter where I am. When Im not feeling to great she lifts my spirits like no-one else can; when Im feeling great, we celebrate together. It doesnt matter what is going on in my life when I listen to Céline I feel better and brings an instant smile to my face. It's true what some people have already said, she does speak to your soul and its one of the greatest things I could, possibly, ever experience. A great bonus to ALLLLLL this is the great friends that I get to make because of Céline, Thank-you to Everyone on this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Céline Forever! You almost made me cry now because at the moment i feel little bit nervous and i'll turn on one of her cd-s and i know that i'll instantly feel better.Pretty much the same to me whatever you said. And don't think that you're cryz for some things, because i do the same things.Don't worry. cmcdaori Posted June 6, 2008 at 09:55 AM Posted June 6, 2008 at 09:55 AM It is so hard to explain to people how good Celine is, because it is like they just dont want to accept how good she is. I have to listen to Celine all the time and i have started a scrapbook of pictures of her. Celine is so beautiful and I only wish she knew how much we all love her Good girl!I do agree with you too.I even had problems with my family at the beginning, but now it's ok,they finally accepted me as her obsessive fan and with reason i can say. Even i still have the same problem with my society.Definitely yes and i try to defend as much as possible because in my country everybody thinks that things like that are insane for sure and we would be all fools without doubt. No any friend of mine that lives and loves celine as i do in my country.Everybody talks rude things about her and in front of me too,but i defend as much as i can. That's all i can do,but they are jelous i can say and like one girl said here...they don't know what they're missing..i agree totally. autumnskies00 Posted June 7, 2008 at 08:53 AM Posted June 7, 2008 at 08:53 AM (edited) Celine is the reason I am where I am in my life right now. My friends just don't understand how much of an impact she has in my life but of course you guys know. She has helped me through the good and bad. There are some points I felt that I may have given up if I didn't have her music to support me. Its not just her music, its her as a person. She's inspiring. I've just graduated college and got my dream job in the music industry...and as crazy as it sounds, I probably wouldn't even thought twice about a music industry job if I weren't introduced to music at such a young age. Celine made it my passion, and now I'm happier than ever with my up and coming career. Besides all that, she's the one that always taught me its possible to get everything you ever wanted as long as you go for it. If I listened to nay sayers who told me a job in music isn't practical, I wouldn't be about to start a job, right out of college, that I know I'll love enough to spend the rest of my life at. Sort of like the best friend I never met. Aside all of that, seeing her live is another story. Those are the best memories of my life. I can remember every moment and feeling. Its just great to go see her perform, and its amazing how all the problems you're having at that moment are just cleared out of your mind. Its like a high. Ah, I love it! LVCeline Posted June 7, 2008 at 02:11 PM Posted June 7, 2008 at 02:11 PM I gotta say, I'm sure it sounds crazy, but Celine's presence plays a HUGE part in my life! I absolutely adore the woman! I can't put into words what her voice does to me. It's just a feeling I get from the very first note out of her mouth, and it never fails to warm me from the inside out. I think about her all the time, I'm constantly checking the forum, I listen to her daily, and I have lots of Celine stuff at my apartment to remind me of her. I know it's crazy, but I just can't help it! Quote

I was like my god, she is an amazing person. Also she has been an insperation in my life I felt like ending my life but her music has helped allot in my life if I get to meet her one day I will thank her for being there for me with her music. minniemare5 Posted June 8, 2008 at 02:52 AM Posted June 8, 2008 at 02:52 AM I feel so fortunate to have grown up with Celine. She is the one thing from my childhood that I can take with me as I grow up (I'm 21) and she doesn't change (not that much). A lot of people are driven to drink alcohol to cope with their problems, while I just turn on a Celine song and everything's all better, even if it really isn't. For me she is the closest thing to "home" and I love it because I can take her with me wherever I go. Quote
Edwin Posted June 8, 2008 at 07:21 PM Posted June 8, 2008 at 07:21 PM Hehe, are you kidding me? I can't go a few hours without listening to a Celine song! I drove to work and and my 2GIG nano is ONLY Celine stuff, lol. and that I have to shuffle every now and then when I want to hear some other stuff . She is with me at work playing in my windows media player, and of course when I get home On Friday, one of my co-workers was joking with another one that he was going to program his computer to make it play Celine when it starts, and the other one responded. It already plays Celine when it starts! (cause he can hear it softly playing from mine )Anyways, when Celine was on Oprah, and they started to promote the tour here in Omaha, everyone at work told me about it. You probably already know this, but...Am I obsessed? Yeah, probably But I'm not a pyscho stalker, lolll. Quote
sceavis Posted June 9, 2008 at 05:08 PM Posted June 9, 2008 at 05:08 PM Hi I do not post much around here but I read the board everyday I wanted to share my story. I can relate not having somebody to share my passion of her with. My family and friends think I am nuts loving her as much as I do they down right hate her but that does not stop me. I have listen to her music every morning on my way to work for the last two years dealing with depression as I do it sets me up to try and have a great day. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about what her music means to me just hearing her name makes me happy. I love her passion for everything she does in life for her music family charity and fans. It makes me want to be a better and more giving person. I hope she never changes that. I forever will be grateful for the inspiration she has given me through her voice and music just to keep going with all the ups and downs we all live in our lives. I wish someday I could tell her this but I am pretty sure I will never get the chance. Being on this board sharing my story here is as good as me telling her because we all share one thing here it is our love for her she has helped and inspired each and every one of us in a different way she knows her fans is like one big family and help each other out. I will try to post more often thanks for listening. Quote

C.D._LoVer Posted June 11, 2008 at 07:55 PM Posted June 11, 2008 at 07:55 PM The other day in the car I was riding and listening to Celine on my Zune with my eyes closed (i wasn't driving...) when my eyes where shut I mouthed every word with her, and I could picture her recording it in my head. I payed attention to every word and echo and she gave me chills. Every time she hits the high notes I smile, I know they are coming and I know she can do it but when I hear it, it is amazing over and over again. No other music does this to me. The majority of my music collection is all Celine. People think that I am absolutely nuts because all I listen to is her. I know that my mom thinks i am loosing it and she won't buy me any more of her cds. But Celine has in graved herself a special place in my heart. Three years ago, my best friend, my father passed away. The first song I listened to about a week later was Because You Loved Me. Every time I hear those lyrics I tear up, I get shivers. Her voice can be so soft and so strong at the same time. And I know about three years ago Celine lost her dad. I love that she still did that concert that night and that inspires me to get on with it and do it anyway like she did that night. Now the songs that get me through each day is almost any of hers. But I really love A New Day and Just Fade Away just because what she says in them. I truly and deeply love Celine Dion from the bottom of my heart. I am so glad that I have her music to get me through the days and just to make me happy. No one in the world but her makes me as happy. beautyroses Posted June 22, 2008 at 08:02 AM Posted June 22, 2008 at 08:02 AM (edited) I want to write the whole story I hope you don’t get bored.I was a rock music fan so I hardly paid attention to pop music, and especially female singers. Also s I said finding music stuff is very hard, in the past we only got copied cassettes and that kind of things, so I was not after anything else other than rock music, the first album I received from Celine was falling into you and the first song in that cassette was “To love you more” I remember I loved that album very much and at that time “call the man “was my favorite. I listened to her everyday but unfortunately the cassette got damaged and I stopped listening to Celine, and I kinda forgot her.In the year of 2001 my brother gave me “Au Coeur Du Stade” video, it was the first time I saw Celine’s face in my whole life, I was so impressed my her, and the song that made me a fan was “Let’s Talk about Love” I was enchanted but that voice by those glowing eyes and that kind face full of emotion. At that time everything around me was a mess I was unsuccessful in the entrance exam of university and circumstances forced me to study the course that I hated, my older brother had an heart attack and my mom went t o his house to take care of him, so I was alone in the house and in my world and had to face all the things that happened to me, I remember I spend half of day listening to Celine and she helped me get through all these. Before discovering Celine I was a very sad and pessimist person, and I was full of anger but she changed me she saved my life and helped me through bad situation she filled me with joy and love. After that I became mad about Celine whenever I am sad or angry and even when I am happy I relay to her music and even sometimes I only listen to her talking and it comforts me.All I can say to her is You give me a world to believe in You give me a love to believe in And feeling this love I can rise up above And be strong and whole once againCos your love heals my soul once againI can live I can dream once again Cos you made me believe :cry Edited June 22, 2008 at 08:16 AM by beautyroses Quote http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac137/Venus_1982/new1.jpgAngel of My World[/i]
CelineFan93 Posted June 22, 2008 at 10:13 AM Posted June 22, 2008 at 10:13 AM My mum and step-dad both liked her, and then I started to like her. And now they hate her. They shout at me all the time telling me that I'm a crazy fan and whenever I dream about meeting her etc, they tell me that security wont let me in cuz I'm so obsessed with her! It's funny for a while, but then it kinda upsets you. For me you cant just like her..You either love her or hate her and I'm afraid to say that most of the people I've met hate her. But they dont know her like we know her. There has been a lot of stuff in my life that has caused a lot of strain and I'm not gunna give you the full story, but it ended in me self harming, skipping school, smoking and drinking etc. I didnt know celine then, I knew of her but I would have never believed anyone that told me that she would be the one to heal me and make me love life again. I know this sounds pathetic but when I found Celine and her music and her voice, I fell in love. I found warmth, comfort, acceptance and most of all I felt safe. I was into more rocky sort of music so listening to her within the circle of friends I was involved in was a 'sin' and I lost my friends and had to move schools because it felt better to lose them then to lose Celine. I also got bullied a lot at school and I used to go home and listened to her music. Her warm voice and the lyrics to her songs just made me want to find her and give her a great big hug to say 'thank you'. Not long after my mum and dad split up after my mum found out my dad was having an affair with her best friend. And my dads violence became more frequent due to the amount of alcohol he was consuming so we left and went to live with my gran for a while. Then we moved in with my mums new boyfriend and my dad broke intpo our new house and tried to kidnap my younger brother while he was sleeping. Afterwards I had a series f panic attacks and rarely slept. Instead I would stay up most of the night and listen to celine. If I did fall asleep It was with the comfort and safety I found in Celine and her music. She has been like a mum to me for all those time my mum wasnt there or I couldnt tell her about something. I also used to have this re-occaring dream that My mum dies when I am 17 and then Celine comes to the funeral. and I am dressed in pink and sitting inside of the coffin instead of my mum, because I would rather die then her. And I am crying histerically and then Celine comes up to me and holds me and tells me it will all be okay. and I am holding onto her so tightly and sobbing into her. She tells me she wants me to go to live with her for a while as I am so upset. Even though my mum has died in the dream it's still a very special one to me because it shows how close I feel to her when shes singing and through her music she expresses everything I need to hear to be a fan. She is perfect..well in my eyes! And I would also like to just say how lucky Rene and Rene-Charles are. They dont know how special their lives actually are. Sorry about the essay!!!! godessceline Posted June 22, 2008 at 03:55 PM Posted June 22, 2008 at 03:55 PM (edited) I know this sounds pathetic but when I found Celine and her music and her voice, I fell in love. I found warmth, comfort, acceptance and most of all I felt safe *nods* i so know that feeling. I think it's really hard for anyone who's not in the midst of all of this to udnerstand what it's like having a performer/artist eman as much to you as Céline does to us; partly because thats all they see her as but also because those people, for the most part, aren't very passionate people. There's nothign WRONG with that, but I think it's easier for someone who loves something, anything, so much that it becomes their outslet (whether be it singing, drawing, skateboarding...whatever) to understand that type of strong emotion for soemone or something. I often get the question from both family and acquaintances, WHY I choose to spend so much money on Céline (and I'm still not as bad as a lot of other peolple), WHY I choose to see the same concert three or four times in a row. I never really knew what to answer them so that they would understand, but...it's an escape. I don't really know how to explain it but it's a break from the world. For an hour and a half; you're in that arena/stadium and that's where your undivided focus and attention is. Everything on the outside, all your troubles and worries and sorrows...fade away for a little while. Not only the concert itself but everything around it: ordering the ticket, the flight, finding a hotel to stay at...all of that takes PLANNING, and planning rewquires time and focus: time and focus you would normally spend on worrying about whatever it is that is wrong in your life at that point, but that is now put towards something positive and fun. Also (and this hit me only yesterday), for me...it's about being a part of something. Coming to these forums, collecting the merchandise, seeing the shows...it makes me a part of something. It makes me part of a world of its own, separate from the real one where things are soemtimes too much. It's an outlet. It's a bubble where thousands of others share the same interest and where I belong. Where I'm accepted and fit in, and that's something I've never had. I know I sound like a pathetic, over-emotional fourteen year-old, but...it's true. I can't help it. It's just the way it is. smw Posted June 22, 2008 at 04:32 PM Posted June 22, 2008 at 04:32 PM I basically own every song that's been released of Celine's recordings. I have it all....and I listen to it daily. I couldn't stand taking a long trip without listening to her. I crank the music up loud - and just let her bring it. However - she is not my entire music collection. I have just as many songs of Karen Carpenter. I love Brandi Carlile. Regina Spector is fantastic. Frank, Ella, Judy, Julie Andrews. There are so many more great artists. But Celine just happens to be among the top 2 in my life (Karen being the other). Quote

warriorbard Posted June 22, 2008 at 05:28 PM Posted June 22, 2008 at 05:28 PM (edited) Celine makes me believe in love; she makes me want to really believe in finding that one true love you know is out there somewhere. It's not just her songs that have that affect on me, it's her relationship with Rene. They're so in love it almost actually hurts to look at them. I guess deep down eveyone wants that, someone you are willing to give your entire heart and soul to and to trust them not to break it. So I guess you can say her life and songs give me hope and courage not to settle for anything less. On a side note, Celine's songs were constantly my "exam music mix" when I was in high school. Her songs kept me sane. Edited June 22, 2008 at 05:29 PM by warriorbard Quote "In my world everyone's a pony. And they all eat rainbows! And poop butterflies!"
