Don't mention it... :thumbsup2:

the pleasure is all mine... I'm a big francophile so I enjoy thinking about and translating these songs...

Always a little frustrating though when the beauty or subletites of the French can't be conveyed in English...

grobandion: your kids are very cute :)

celineargento: did the shower cool you down? :giggle:

Hi tony..YES, the cold shower was just what I needed!!! did you say you were single? hahaha just kidding

Being serious now, thanks a lot, you're soooo kind and smart.

Can I add you as a friend? I haven't add anyone yet.

bye, kisses

Of course you can! In fact, I'll add you now!

And yes, I'm single and unattached...

I suppose I will be going with the common reply but I first heard POur Que Tu M'Aimes Encore when I was about 9 or 10 years old I did not understand it but I knew it was special and that's what made me listen to it over and over. Now that I understand the lyrics it's even more beautiful than before.

Btw: Grobandion your little ones are just sooo adorable!!! :)

thanks Denelle...I'm in love with them (that's pretty obvious, isn't it?)

and thanks for sharing

p/s: tony, you're becoming really popular dude!!! you rock

Tony is quite popular, isn't he? I wanted him just for myself...but I see I have competitors...hahaha

About the topic itself. besides "Je cherche l'ombre" and "Le blues du businessman" (that my man tony explained to me), I have always felt attracted to "l'amour existe encore"

I love the spanish version of it too, off course, but I have always felt a certain connection with the original one...can't explain it.

:blushing: you should probably know I'm not good at taking compliments... but thanks for all the kind words from everyone!

I was just wondering if any Spanish-speaking fans would be able to give me a brief idea (no need for a full translation) of what Celine sings during Aun Existe Amore and if any Italian speakers would be kind enough to translate the Italian parts of The Prayer...?

Thanks a lot!!

I hope to learn Spanish this year so I might be able to understand her Spanish songs eventually :)

Well tony, "Aun existe amor" is pretty much the same as "L'amour..." but here it goes:

"When you fell asleep next to me, then I have no doubt, love still exists

the hesitation in me, I'll send it to the moon, to live with you

the loneliness of each day, that grew among tears, I'll take it away from me

to love you at any cost, to love you every moment,

despite so much evilness that's spinning around us

When you fall asleep next to me, then I have no doubt, love still exists

The arguments of ours, knowing who's blame is it, what do we care about it now?

in this world, eternal, big, my darling we'll love each other, much, much more

beyond violence, beyond madness, despite so much evilness that separate us

when you fall asleep..."

well,that's pretty much it

bye, take care.

p/s: beware of celineargento...I believe she DIDN'T take that cold shower after all...

Here is the English Translation of The Prayer I come from an Italian background but if there are any better Italian speakers out the feel free to correct :) It's such a beautiful song and the reason we used it at my Nonno's funeral the lyrics are stunning

The Prayer

I pray you'll be our eyes and watch us where we go,

And help us to be wise,

In times when we don't know,

Let this be our prayer,

When we lose our way,

Lead us to a place,

Guide us with your grace,

To a place where we'll be safe.

The Light that you from I, I pray we'll find your light

In the heart it will remain, And hold it in our hearts

To remember us that, When stars go out each night

Eternal star six in my prayer, Let this be our prayer

How much faith is, When shadows fill our day

Lead us to a place

Guide us with your grace

Give us faith so we'll be safe

We dream a world

without violence a world of justice and of hope

Everyone of the hand to its near Symbol of peace

The force that us from I, we ask that life be kind.

The desire that, and watch us from above

Everyone finds love, We hope that each soul will find

Around and within himself, Another soul to love

Let this be our prayer

Let this be our prayer

Just like every child

Just like every child

Needs to find a place, guide us with your grace

Give us faith so we'll be safe.

The faith we have ignited will be our salvation (or will save us)

That's pretty rough sorry, and I finally understand the meaning of some songs losing that "specialness" after their translation, this song doesn't seem nearly as meaningful all in English.

But I think that's the basic translation of this magnificent song

Hey guys

Thanks very much for the translations! I've always wondered what she was singing... especially in the prayer.

Aun existe amor is indeed very similar to the French version. It must be great when the languages are so close and you find almost exact words to fit the music.

Thanks again!

I really love her French music. I'm not fluent, but I know the general idea of each song. This might sound lame, but one of the best things about not speaking French is that I can take a song of hers in that tongue and make it fit whatever mood I'm in. All the song needs is to sound either happy or sad.

Good topic. I cant speak French but the song Pour Que Tu Maimes Encore for me is one of my favourite songs of all time. I dont know what this songs means, but i think maybe this is why the song has always kept so special for me. Celines voice, the music accompanying it, the background singing are all just so powerful and emotional that it is a new experience everytime I to it. I dont need to know what this song means literally to enjoy it everytime, but i can sing every line and so could everyone in Ireland at her concert in Croke park. :whistling: Now thats what amazing songs are all about. you dont know the words, but it can get to you anyway............ :hmm:

"Pour que tu m'aimes encore".

This song hit the top of the charts in Angleterre---it's so powerful, even for those that don't know French.

But I suggest learning it! ;)

Soo true:) Pour Que Tu M'aime Encore<3 I remember when I was 12-13 I rented Live In Memphis 1997. Then I bumped over this beautiful love song  I didn't know a thing about what I was singing too, but pretty was it ! Pure magic..

I remember once I THOUGHT she sang "Notre Dame" so I kept singing it. When I got older I relized it was wrong xD hahaha... I love Contre Nature too

Posted

Lately, here's my list:

La Memoire d'Abraham

Le Ballet

Lettre de George Sand...

Berceuse

Et Je T'aime Encore

Tous les Secrets

Zora Sourit

Le Vol d'un Ange

Tu Nages

Je Lui Dirai

The ones that really got me interested in the French songs:

S'il Suffisait D'aimer

Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore

Vole

Je Ne Vous Oublie Pas

(I do have a very good understanding of regular french conversation, but with lyrics I find it a bit harder to follow because there's more artistic language used)

Tony is a darling; I know 'cause I met him in Paris & spent lots of time with him. Celineargento: he doesn't have one of those bodies like on your avatar & siggy, but more importantly he seems to have a heart of gold, so PM him and get it over with...will ya, LOL!

My love for tony is platonic, I live in Argentina and honsetly I won't be able to travel anytime soon (money issues).....

About the bodies....they're jsut a candy to my eyes, I always put the heart and soul first.

le vole d¡un ange!!!!!!!!!!! yeah! I really like that one too. i think is about angels (doh...the title says it) but I have no idea what it says. It's great though

It talks about some kind of love..i translated it somewhere..it's very nice..here it goes..

Et j'ai suivi le vol d'un ange

Il m'a emmené jusqu'à toi

Un battement de cil

Et tu es là

La nuit plus rien ne nous dérange

La raison est un fil de soie

On la sent plus fragile

C'est bien comme ça

Mais dis-moi...

And I followed the flight of an angel

He brought me to you

A lash beat

And you are there

At night nothing else bothers us

Reason is a silk thread

We feel it more fragile

It's good that way

But tell me...

Toi, est-ce que tu rêves encore ?

Toi, est-ce que tu vas toujours caresser le ciel ?

Toi, est-ce que tu cherches encore ?

Toi, est-ce que tu veux toujours effleurer le soleil ?

You, are you still dreaming?

You, are you still flying to caress the sky?

You, are you still searching?

You, do you still want to touch the sun?

Et j'ai suivi le vol d'un ange

Comme un voyage au fond de moi

Juste en fermant les yeux

Et tu es là

La nuit a ce pouvoir étrange

De nous faire aller jusque là

Où même les oiseaux

N'arrivent pas

And I followed the flight of an angel

Like a travel inside me

Just by closing the eyes

And you are there

The night has this strange power

To help us get there

Where even the birds

Don't arrive

Toi, est-ce que tu rêves encore ?

Toi, est-ce que tu vas toujours caresser le ciel ?

Toi, est-ce que tu cherches encore ?

Toi, est-ce que tu veux toujours effleurer le soleil ?

You, are you still dreaming?

You, are you still flying to caress the sky?

You, are you still searching?

You, do you still want to touch the sun?

On frôlait l'océan

Est-ce que tu te rappelles ?

On partait droit devant

On rêvait

De voler là-bas

A l'autre bout du ciel, à l'autre bout du ciel

We were barely touching the Ocean

Do you remember?

We were going straight forward

We were dreaming

To fly out there

At the other end of the sky, at the other end of the sky

Toi, est-ce que tu rêves encore ?

Toi, est-ce que tu vas toujours caresser le ciel ?

Toi, est-ce que tu cherches encore ?

Toi, est-ce que tu veux toujours effleurer le soleil ?

You, are you still dreaming?

You, are you still flying to caress the sky?

You, are you still searching?

You, do you still want to touch the sun?

Et j'ai suivi le vol d'un ange

Il m'a emmené jusqu'à toi

Un battement de cil

Et tu es là

And I followed the flight of an angel

He brought me to you

A lash beat

And you are there

enjoy..

Je T'aime encore! I love this song, English or in French. But I love a lot of the songs on D'elles and I have no idea what she is saying but they still touch me, I love her voice and I think it is the deliverance of it that makes all these different language songs so great even when we don't understand them. I really want to learn French now. I am taking Spanish in Highschool for at least three years, so senor year I am gonna take french!
