Can anyone tell me the info on any sell outs at all on her European dates? Was there at least one sell out thus far or has her and Rene's greed shot up their heads?

 

I so so so bet she will come back to Vegas so damn quickly it will be all dust and scratched memories from the "Tanking Chances World Money Tour".

Exactly, just becuase not all dates are sold out doesnt mean its bombing. in Australia alone the tour grossed $10 million. i reckons this tour will be one of the highest grossing ever.

 

Most concerts were nearly sold out which is 15,000 minimum at each concert.

 

All UK dates were completely SOLD OUT, they released extra tickets only a few days before

5 of the 9 South African concerts were 100% sold out

No, no I just looked at the German dates and they're not doing very well and that's why my question regarding other EU dates comes from!

Seba, German dates may be the exceptions that confirm the rule.

Actually in all other countries the concerts are selling great! If there would be also only 2-3 dates for Germany, I'm sure they would be sold out by now as well.

In Paris there were a few free seats on Saturday (which was told to be sold out) and on Sunday but these were really only a few seats. I'm sure like 90% of Paris tickets were all sold.

I don't think this tour is such a disastair like you are supposing it to be...

Well I know that the show in Stockholm still have seats left. And I wont buy tickets and I can no longer recommend people I know to buy tickets. Besides the huge price (which I would pay if I thought it was worth it) the setlist is booring, it all seems rushed, and the fact that I know some songs like MHWGO and TPOL are lipped to the same old live versions we have heard before. And two (yes two now after some songs have been excluded) soulful performances (Alone, My Love) does not carry up the intire concert nor the price of €170.

 

Let's say that the minuses of the TC tour are a bit more than the pluses, and I wont act like I support something which I don't want to be that way.

I think the reason for the bad sales in Germany is the price.... It's way too high. I wanted to go to at least one 1 gig there, but it just puts me off. Plus the fact that the ticket agents are very vague with for example the seatings (all the maps show a "normal" end stage + the fact that you couldn't see where you were sitting). Did they show any TV commercials?

I keep most paper reviews from all concerts and sometimes there are numbers (of course we never know if those numbers are right or not :-/

 

I put the number in an excel sheet each time I found numbers in the review.

 

I think this tour has satisfactory rates, but it is not a solt out tour like in the 90's... But look at the prices !!! up to 250 for German concerts, it is crazy when compared to other acts (céline's less expensive tickets correspond to the most expensive ones for other acts !!!).

 

For Germany Stuttgart is 77% full as for now. So that is not so bad given the price and the fact that Céline is not as huge in Germany as in France, USA or Canada.

 

What I don't understand is the 300 000 for South Africa... According to paper and forum reviews, it can't be so much... Especially is Monte Casino was just the 1900-seats theatre (which I am not sure, maybe people from south Africa can tell us : was it the small theatre or a big open air venue ???...).

 

For sure France sold more than 90% in one year... that is very good, but Mylène Farmer and Madonna have sold out Stade de FRance (about 80000 tickets) in a few minutes, it was such a frenzy !!! Mylène had a second Stade de France planned I think... Still Madonna and Mylène do not make so many dates like Céline. Céline has a real world tour.

I believe all seats for Copenhagen sold out only a few weeks after they went on sale. And Parken in Copenhagen seats about 50.000. This tour is definitely NOT bombing!

I havent been to any of the concerts yet, but it seems like people still love celine. I think someone else said this, but it must be hard to sell out huge arenas in the same city multiple nights. I think she and Rene are probably making bank on this tour. I agree though, the set list is a bit boring. I know it must be difficult to practice a tour, but people are paying top dollar, they should receive something exciting.

 

I am going to the concert in Portland, Oregon, but I doubt i would go unless I thought this would be the last tour for a very long time. I just think she's getting tired. But I also think that people are spending thousands of dollars to see her, and they should get a show of the songs they love.

 

I don't want to start any drama. I think Celine is great and is so giving with her time. But I just think she should perform some songs that havent been performed 700 and some odd times in the last 5 years. i think everything celine touches turns to gold. And it sounds like she's doing just fine on tour.

there is no way that 5 venues were completely sold out here in SA.

durban was NOT sold out. many parts of the stadium were empty. cape town on the saturday night was definitely sold out. dont' know about the next night. monte casino could possibly have been sold out it was a small venue. don't know about the next night but i would assume that both cape town and monte casino both were sold out those other 2 nights.

plus ticket connection went into liquidation because of poor turn out sales, inside information on this detail. being in the business i'm in i meet many different people in different areas of business and this was confirmed that the reason why ticket connection went under was because of the poor ticket sales for the celine shows.

plus when one checked on the ticket connection site one could clearly see that sales were not doing well.

the reason for this could have been because the tickets were so over priced it was stupid. the merchandise was also over the top expensive. if they hadn't been so greedy i'm sure all the venues would have been packed to capacity and the merchandise sold.

I honestly believe that you should reconsider... Maybe I'm biased but the show is fantastic even if the setlist isn't as current as we would like.

I had tickets to several shows and after hearing about the setlist I considered selling some... but then I attended my first show in Manchester and selling was no longer an option. The show was incredible (... even for all the non-fans who I dragged along with me and who are cynical about Celine and who object to lip-synching!)

 

I know exactly which songs and which song segments are lipped and it really doesn't matter. When she songs live it is mind-blowing! Celine is electric beginning to end... and it's not rushed... She may not spend a lot of time talking to the audience bu the show lasts for two hours and there are 25 songs or something! Ten years ago there were fewers songs and therefore more time to engage... If anything, we're spoilt!

 

I promise that the show will not disappoint you. I don't know if you have ever seen her live or not... I don't know how much you care for her music... but watching DVDs and video bootlegs and anything remotely connected to the Vegas show can never prepare you for watching a live Celine Dion show. She is phenomenal. She's incredibly beautiful on stage and her voice is a miracle.

 

Please don't let a a price tag of €175 or a setlist that doesn't seem too great stop you from going. It could be the last time she tours and I really don't think you want to miss it.

hi everybody.

 

what i can say from a german perspective is that none of the concerts here is even near to be sold out. plenty of tickets available for every date.

several reasons for that:

 

first, celine was not in the charts for ages. i do love her music, but everything sounds a bit outdated and is promoted very very badly. i think something like "bleeding love" which leona lewis did would have been perfect for her to come back. still a ballad, but it does sound much more like a ballad should sound these days. or use the more edgier sound on her album like "fade away"....

 

second, she still could play a sold out tour but they should have chosen other venues, less cities. playing the Olympic Stadium in Munich with 65,000 seats on sale is way to big - considering that there are concerts in Stuttgart which is not too far away and in Vienna.

 

third and finally, i think her management is to blame. especially Rene. forgive me but i think he is to old for the job. bad taste, i mean, who needs this Queen-stuff in the concerts? all the critics are making fun of it... and love can move mountains and river deep mountain high towards the end? she has such a great songbook to choose from - and plays all these dull songs over and over again.

and - give these songs a bit of a makeover.

as a lot of people say - using the same old playback-demos for ages now - what is that?

 

all in all, i can understand some people who find the setlist too boring (me included) and would like to see something fresh from her.

 

i love her, i really do, and i still think her 99 "lets talk about love" concert was the best I have ever seen - but that was ten years ago and I don´t feel like I want to hear the same old dull "The power of love" demo again.

 

she needs to change urgently if she doesn´t want to end up being an catalogue-artist.

 

but after all, i will still go to the concert, i am sure i will like it, something more fancy would have been appreciated.

hi! I'm Dada. I'm going to see Céline in Munich with my cousin. I wuold like to tell you that it is my first and probably the last concert I'll see. I've chosen Germany because in Italy tickets prices are more and more expencive, so I've decided to go in this beautiful city also because there is a direct flight. I will honoured to hear her voice, also if she will perform the same songs, but for me it's a great possibility and I don't care if she will sing another time "the power of love". I understand also who tells that the set list is boring, maybe it's true. I hope she will perform her new songs from Taking chances. Sorry for my bad english!

No way is Celine's tour bombing. I went to the Birmingham NIA concert and it was sold out.

I appreciate the fact that the tickets are a little on the expensive side, but when you consider you are paying to see the greatest female singer of all time, then i think the money is worth it. I paid nearly £300 for me and my husband to go and see her, then we paid nearly £100 in merchandise.

She is my idol and I consider her well worth the money. The concert was fantastic.
