Tomorrow is strawberry day… I have a picture of Céline eating a strawberry in the back of her car from last April, but feel it rude to post it as she was unaware the photo was being taken at the moment as her car pulled in. Nice to have though

Interestingly, here she mentioned that a friend of her brother gave the demo tape of CNQR to René. And he was the one who insisted René to listen to the tape.... and not her brother...

Hi Davey, it's a surprise these pictures are new to you. This edition of Le Lundi is one of the easiest Quebec 80's magazine with Celine on cover to find.

When reading all these early magazines, it appears that the real story is the following :

Michel had a band that was quite popular in Repentigny area at the time. He toured a lot with his band and had a lot of contacts in music business. One of his friends had a direct link with Paul Lévêque, who was already  at the time, quite a known manager in Quebec. This friend approached  Paul Lévêque who then met the Dion family. Paul Lévêque signed in late 1980, a five-year contract to manage Céline. However several months later, he still hadn't worked seriously on Céline beginnings and Therese Dion was very furious. ( he had the rights though for Ce n'était qu'un rêve" and Therese Dion was upset the song had still remained in the drawer.

So Paul Leveque, who of course knew René, called him and send him the cassette ( the famous one ). René received Celine in his office. He decided to produce and release 'CNQR". At the beginning Paul Lévêque thought he would co-manage Céline with René, since he was contractually his manager, but René put it on trial to get this contract cancelled. Mid 82, after months of juridical battle, René et Paul Lévêque found a mutual agreement and René became the official and only one manager of Céline.

The story of "Michel send a cassette to René  and then the magic happened" is first of all easier to ^resent to the public ( people are not supposed to know the undersides of business ) Plus it participates to the story telling René created : the fairy tale + René as unique Creator

Oh, it was very popular!!!!!!!!!! I even asked my mother way back then to copy it for me and she used laces from an old nightgown of hers😄! That was in a time way before any smartphone or internet! And it was only after that I discovered a picture of Céline in that outfit! By that time I was already her fan (started in 1988) - but finding pictures of her was very difficult in that place I lived by that time! I still can remember the laughter of my mother, when I showed her Céline in that dress (but the original Versace, not duplicated from her mother 😄

Well, it's rare to "Céline"-Newbies or Céline-fans of the younger generation. Those "old farts" like me 🤪😁 recognize it: It was taken in October 10, 2004 where she received the "ELLA Award" at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. This prize is given to singers who have an outstanding musical career and are also dedicated to humanitarian causes. On the ceremony every guest received a gift-bag that included "Miracle", "One Heart" and "A New Day...Live In Las Vegas" albums and a pair of earrings and the Celine Dion Parfums. Celine was photographed with Ben Kaye, Ginny Mancini, Jerry F. Sharell, Randy Phillips and Mark Juliano.

Alex Gernandt was the chief editor of the famous German teen magazine BRAVO. They even had Celine posters in the BRAVO in 1998. ❤️. Can you imagine that?
