Rene listened, called Michele back and Celine and her mom went for an appointment with Rene the same afternoon. Rene decided to be Celine's manager (Celine already had a manager that was doing nothing) and dealt with her present manager. Rene guaranteed Mrs. Dion, that in 5 years time he would make Celine a star in Quebec. When Rene took on Celine, he never had any other clients. There was never a MaryLou. This is from Celine's and Rene's biographies. Rene is not Veronica's manager. Veronica is an impersonator and does a very good impression of Celine. Veronica is managed by someone else. Rene' only manages Celine. René was very successful with Ginette Reno. It was reported that he wanted for Ginette a several year Vegas contract. But she refused as she was married; had a familly and did not want to leave them to sing abroad. This is one of the main reason of the split !! In the beginning of the eighties it was very "fashionnable" to make children sing. Not only René and Nathalie SIMARD. But it's true that the history of this familly inspired René as the whole familly was now known through Quebec. Sisters and brothers often together for TV show. Maman Simard was very appreciated as maman Dion later. I think René like to manage an artist from A to Z, to control everyting and the singer has to follow. I read yesterday an interview of Garou. He was talking about the slipt with Celine team. He said that he wanted to make an english album but the team said it wasn't the right time. When he became father René wanted him to release photos of the newly born but garou refused. So actually he wanted to be free and not let others decide for himself. By the way remember what Celine once said. She followed René decisions until recent years. But as becoming more mature she wanted to make her own decisions. Her friend adviced her to talk instead of keeping everything inside. This is what she did and went though hard time with René, He had to accept. Quote

You know, we heard a lot of different things but we just don't know what's true and what's now. About Ginette Reno, that's pretty much what I understood from René's bio. He bascily became her manager because he didn't really have anything better to do. He was finished with Les Baronets so... I think it was a good expericence though that he did Ginette and René before Céline like that, he made his mistakes on them. But, Ginette has a very strong personality and doesn't seems to always be very easy to work with. She even seemed pretty rough with him when I read it in his bio.... Ginette is really something else.
