Must do/see things while in the USA?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

As part of seeing Celine in LA in December I'm also going to visit the US for 3 weeks as it's my first time in the States, flying into LA, then New York, Vegas and San Francisco. Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions about things to do and see and what hotels you would recommend?

Atm I have temp bookings at...

Crowne Plaza Beverly Hills

Carousel Inn Anaheim

Lucerne Hotel New York

MGM Grand Las Vegas

Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf San Fran (any good proximity wise)

Already booked Disneyland, Sex and the City tour and Grand Canyon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... :D

Go and see either Hairspray or Wicked on Broadway in New York!!

Oh definitely thanks for your suggestion I hope they'll still be on at the end of the year

Ooh and also if you're not afraid of heights you should go up to the top of the Rockefeller Center. There is a viewing platform 70 stories up and you get an AMAZING view and photos!

Okay, I'm very frequent tourist of those cities so I've been pretty much at every point of interest in every single one, so here it goes...

L.A.

- Hollywood Boulervard

- The Kodak Theater guided tour

- Graumman's Chinese Theater

- Hollywood sign

- Warner Bros. Studio Tour

- Disneyland (if you can go to orlando, florida and go to disney world... is waaaaaayyyyyyyyy bigger than disneyland, way better and one of my favorite places in the world! A must-see!)

Also, if you can drive to San Diego for a day go to the San Diego Zoo it's pretty much the best zoo I've ever been to.

New York

- Statue of Liberty

- Rockefeller Center and the Top of the Rock building

- The Metropolitan Museum of Art

- The Empire State Building

- Times Square

- Wicked (yep, while in New York going to see a Broadway musical is a must and Wicked is the must-see right now... simply amazing!)

- Chrysler Building

- Grand Central Terminal

- Central Park

Also, if you can drive to Philadelphia which is very, very nice and, of course, try to go to Washington D.C there are lots of must-sees there...

Las Vegas

- Caesars Palace and the Forum Shops

- The Venetian and the Grand Cannal Shoppes and the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum

- The Bellagio and its fountains, gardens and the Via Bellagio Shops

- Paris

- MGM Grand and its Lion Habitat

- Luxor

- New York, New York and the Manhattan Express Rollercoaster

- The Stratosphere and the Big Shot

- The Wynn

- The Palazzo

- Treasure Island and the Sirens of TI show (it's free by the way)

- Fremont Street

- O by Cirque Du Soleil (going to a show in Vegas is just as essential as gambling, partying and shopping and O is the best show there is, after A New Day..., also, Phantom and Le Reve are great)

Also, if you can, take a tour to Hoover Dam, which is like half an hour drive from the strip, and the Grand Canyon, the view is just breathtaking.

San Francisco

- Golden Gate Bridge

- Alcatraz Island

- Pier 69

- Chinatown

There you go, I hope this can help and have a great trip and a great time seeing Celine live!

Here are some helpful hints:

Customary gratuity (after meals) would be 10-15% of your meal

And enjoy free refills on Pepsi and Coke products! lol Us Americans drink it like water (not really), so about 98% of restaurants offer free refills!

American wait-staff will go up to your table countless times to ask how you are doing and see if you need refills. It might seem annoying, but it's pretty standard

Water is free at all restaurants

In Disneyland----go early! Get everything you really want to get done before noon----as the park gets busier after noon.

Chicago is worth a stop----but don't waste your time on the Sears tower---go to the Hancock building and go up to the restaurant for a drink in their bar. It's much cheaper, and just a few floors lower than the Sears tower.

Has anybody heard of the hotels I mentioned above are they any good and within an ok walking distance to things?
Posted

Trust me...You will not have a problem finding any hotel...they are all jammed together and just one big light basically. It's very easy to find things...and if you do have a question, then just hop on here and ask someone while you are there. That's what I did and there are actually a lot of people from here who live in those places you are going!

Don't forget to stop by Chattanooga, TN while your in the US :lmao: Just KIDDING!

Everyone forgot Orlando.

Orlando:

Walt Disney World (Every kid's dream)

Sea Word (MUST See Shamu!)

Universal Studios

Bush Gardens

We've got some of coolest theme parks!! :D And we're flooded with hotels too. Tourist attractions are Orlando's main source on income to begin with. :P

Are you telling me free refills aren't customary overseas, and water isn't free? I'm asking this seriously, cause I obviously have taken it for granted, lol.

But if you're going to NYC be sure and say hi to Vic :D And I agree with Amy, go see Hairspray!!!!!!!!!

I welcome you to "The United States" (Yes after eight years of George Bush we are still United; but thats a different topic)

Tap water is free by law---but you have to out-right ask for it.

And free soda refills DO NOT EXIST ANYWHERE ELSE (Unless you're at Hard Rock Café)

The travel agent has booked us a 3 day pass park hopper I think it's called. But is Disneyland and Disneyworld the same thing I just know we're going to the one in Anaheim... What's the difference between them? Me and my 34 year old Aunt are going to be like a couple of kids there I can't wait, it's been my dream to go on the tea-cup ride since I was a child! :D

Well I don't want to bust your bubble, but Disneyland is NOTHING to compare to Disney World...but if you haven't been to Disney World then that is fine, you will think Disneyland is amazing...

Disneyland is just very very very small compared to Disney World. :) 3 days is PLENTY for Disneyland :flowers:

Look around here and you can see what rides they have and shows and everything, even down to restaurants and everything :)
