French songs translated would be huge hits

Falling into you is probably Celine's best English album. We find there three songs that are English versions of her French hits, "Pour que tu m'aimes encore", "Je sais pas" and "Vole". The result here was amazing, great versions.

She has done it too with "Partout je te vois" in Unison, and "Et je t'aime encore" in One Heart.

The result is always an amazing song, as they were already amazing in French

With all that said, my point is..why hasn't she make Ebglish versions of amazing songs from "S'il suffisait d'aimer", "1F&4T" or "D'elles".

I mean, I have never been dissapointed, not even by "Let your heart decide", the version of "Tout les secrets"

I think she should do that again...and soon

The French songs are meaningful because of their words in French. Her english songs lyrics are BLAH compared to her French songs.

 

Now if her French team worked on english songs---that could be cool.

 

French and english are too different to be translated, The french always have a word for something. English, not so much. C'est la vie.

I agree, there are so many great songs in french, and I want them to stay in that language. As well, as her english or french songs, it would be great for me to have an album in spanish with her greatest hits, but I will always rather new stuff...

i don't think she should always remake her french songs in english but I don't know, fly and je t'aime encore are really good and i almost prefer them from the french versions. if that;s what it takes on the other hand fails so... do it, if its good.

 

what i DO think is that she shouldn't release Taking Chances but promote D'elles worldwide. i'd give my little foot toe to see that

I think you have all got me wrong. I'm not suggesting an entire album of translated songs. And also, offcourse I would love to see her work with her french team in English. I was just saying that maybe one or two songs from her superb French albums could be included in her English ones.

i'm not looking for the depth in the words in her english songs, I already established that in another topic, comparing "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" and "If that's what it takes"...I'm just saying it would be great. i know I'd love it.

I think if she releases an english translation of her french songs, it would be fun. i just dont know how the public would react, from singing covers to translating her french songs to english and release as an album. It might look like no more writers are willing to work with celine. but if she does, one french song (translated) on her album would be enough and i would love to hear on ne change pas or contre nature.

I think that some translated songs would be fantastic, I only understand some very basic French, not enough to understand her French music though, but there are two songs that I liked immediately even though I had no idea what they were talking about lol, they are À cause and J'irais où tu iras. I think it's this kind of "catchyness" that some of her albums often lack I think these two songs are absolutely fabulous love them to bits as much as her English ones, so I'm up for some translated ones! Hi Denelle, I agree with you. A cause is a an amazing song (both versions) and it would be a great hit in English.

I know that the lyrics would be different, but the essence, the soul of the song remains, and that's what count.

I personally love the "musicality" (is that a word?) of Contre Nature and Rien est vraiment fini

i lover her french cds .....so yes to one or two songs off them to be redone in english ......

or as stated above use those musicians/producers/songwriters if possible on english tracks....her french material is far more classier and have better relaxed vocals

I get your point, but I also think that the approaches for the French and English songs are totally different. You can have an example especially on If that's what it takes. I simply love that song and it used to be my favorite before I got acquainted with Pour que tu m'aimes encore, but the lyrics have different targets. (At least the way I see it)

So you can't really translate what's in a song into another language. You can have the essence, but the most special part will always be in the language of origin.

She shouldn't translate her songs. Each one was created to be sang in that language. I don't want the same material all the time. I want new things.

In falling into you album Celine included English versions of some of her French Hits. However none of them were released as Singles. Let's separate English from French. Two different careers in Celine's life.

I just think those songs would improve the final outcome of the album. "Taking Chances" could have been blessed with some quality songs from "D'elles"

I have to agree with everyone that has brought up the idea of Celine working with the musicians from her French albums on and English album. I have thought that would be a great idea for a few years now, and with the sharp contrast between D'elles and Taking Chances, that seems like an even better idea. I think if the English speaking world understood the caliber of the music Celine makes in French, and that was somehow applied to her English music, there would be less of the notion that Celine is an over-the-top cheesy singer. It would be great for the emotion, musicianship, variety and subtlety of her French music to be showcased in her English work so that people see her as more than a power-ballad singer. Whether such a venture would include translations of existing songs from French to English is debatable. I agree that a lot of the song's original meaning is lost in translation, but I personally have no problem thinking of, for example, "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" and "If That's What It Takes," as two separate songs. While I don't think it would be a great idea to make "D'elles: The English Version," I do think there are some French gems that could be reworked into meaningful English counterparts.

I'm not that keen on the idea of making English versions of Céline's French songs. I tend to prefer the French versions even though I don't know French. I love both Pour que tu m'aimes encore and ITWIT, for example, but I think the French version is more... beautiful or something.

Hmm, tricky question for me... Some songs such as Tous les secrets/Let Your Heart Decide I think works very well, I looove both of them and don't feel as if anything is lost. However with Je sais pas/I Don't Know, I much prefer the French version, just seems more meaningful. However, I don't know if I would want a bunch of songs from previous French albums popping up on new english one,s I would feel as if I was getting ripped off. They might be nice as exclusive downloads or something though! (ha, I know, I'll keep dreaming )
