Brilliant!" comments. Sometimes I find that people get mesmerized by the screens anyway and you can come away feeling that you just watched a concert on t.v. I totally agree with that! I watched the screens a lot during the show, and when I left I didn't really feel like I was "there". I thought it would take a while to sink in, but I never got that euphoric feeling "OMG I saw Celine Dion". If they had've allowed photos I would've appreciated the experience more. I ACTUALLY THINK SHE STILL WASNT 100% AFTER HER SICKNESS IN BRISBANE EITHER.SHE WAS A LITTLE BIT CROAKY TOWARDS THE END AND DIDNT SPEAK HARDLY AT ALL EXCEPT AT THE START.. AS WE KNOW SHE USUALLY LOVES TO TALK AND WE LOVE THAT ABOUT HER IT GETS YOU CONNECTED BRISBANE WAS PRETTY MUCH A SELL OUT BUT IT DIDNT SELL OUT REALLY QUICK THE MAJORITY, MAYBE 80% OF TICKETS WERE $300.00 -350.00 .. THERE WAS NO ONE TAKING PHOTOS IN BRISBANE WE HAD ALL OUR BAGS CHECKED WITH TORCHES AS WE WENT IN ONE BY ONE. MAYBE SOME ON CAMERA PHONES BUT THAT WAS IT , IT WAS VERY STRICT WE ALL HAD OUR CAMERAS CONFISCATED WHICH MADE US SAD AS WE COULDNT EVEN TAKE PHOTOS OF US INSIDE ... She had not been there for 10 years, no promotion at all during all these years and her albums since her come-back hasn't been big success in Australia ( Taking Chances was a flop coz it didn't enter the top10 there!). If you add the prices way way too high, she couldn't believe that she could sell out arena of 20.000 people. I think that they were very very lucky that they didn't have to cancel some shows... That's a bit harsh - Taking Chances hasn't been a flop, it's been a small success it's gone platinum in Australia, it's back in the top 20 this week - all without next to no radio support. Her A New Day DVD has been selling very well, 2x platinum. Given the circumstances (no publicity tours or concert tours during the last 10 years) I think it's done somewhat well. And about it seeming like something was wrong, obviously I wasn't in Perth so I don't know if her voice was having trouble, but I can say that she didn't talk much at the Sydney shows either...just at the start, and a few lines in between songs...I kind of expected she would have talked a few more times, but no... These pix will be from her arrival in Perth, as I hung around the stage exit gates after the show for a while before a security guard had the decency to tell me that Celine had already left for the airport straight after the last song. It was originally on a Friday and moved to Tuesday. I met some people in the Ticketmaster office who just couldn't go because of work and the assistant said they'd organised quite a lot of refunds for people who just couldn't make it. It was still a very very big audience. I was at the front and thought the sound was cranked up too high just because of where I was sitting. It was much much louder than for Anthony Callea and I thought that made it a bit scratchy at times. I thought her singing and her 'moves' were excellent. I didn't hear her say the screens weren't working and thought it was deliberate. What a shame for the people who were at the sides. The review in our other Perth paper was excellent and I'll post it for you when I have time. Quote
