Esty Posted April 7, 2008 at 01:44 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 01:44 PM I remember digging out my old French Celine albums from the attic and being completely blown away, and this one of the reasons. It's so unique, she should do more songs like this. Shows she doesn't need the big notes to be stunning X That's the plain and biggest truth in Céline's voice, but it seems she doesn't realize and she has to "scream" on every song, especially recently in Taking Chances I agree. It's such a subtle and simple but beautiful song and so is Celine's voice in it. She has a beautiful voice especially when she's not screaming. I adore this album because of that there are only a few songs where she screams her heart out. Then again a few screaming parts a little here and there won't hurt... Quote

I used to like when she made those high notes and all but now I really appreciate her low songs . Though contrary to my likes, she uses to scream now more than ever Edited April 7, 2008 at 01:55 PM by Gonzalillo Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Prince Whiskers Posted April 7, 2008 at 02:35 PM Author Posted April 7, 2008 at 02:35 PM She didn't scream at all in "L'abandon" and that song was stunning as well. Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
Attendais Posted April 7, 2008 at 02:48 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 02:48 PM It is a nice song but I find it pretty boring... Sorry but I feel like some songs from SSDA are put on the CD just to fill it up. grobandion Posted April 7, 2008 at 05:42 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 05:42 PM I kinda like her "screaming"...a lot actually. I appreciatte her low-profile songs as well. My fav French song is "Rien est vraiment fini" from 1f4t.I don't really like Sil suffisait d'aimer that much, it's a pretty boring album all in all. Quote

You don't need to be scared I kinda like her "screaming"...a lot actually. I appreciatte her low-profile songs as well. My fav French song is "Rien est vraiment fini" from 1f4t.I don't really like Sil suffisait d'aimer that much, it's a pretty boring album all in all. I also like her low parts... these calm ones. For example in J'Attendais... oh it is my favorite one! I love the vocal in this song. For me it's perfect and I guess I think it's the best vocal ever. On the other hand I don't like too much some songs from 1fille 4types. Some of them are devined - true, but on this album Céline's voice sounds more diffrent than before, and that's what makes my sad. For me its not the whole SSDA album, BUT the song: I think is one of the most boring songs Céline has ever recorded, and its sooo overrated by french fans, I never understood why, if its because its written by JJG and all he does is like "sacred" (a stupid reason then) or what? Shesings2me Posted April 7, 2008 at 06:22 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 06:22 PM Hi, Thanks for pointing out both Je Crois Toi and J'Attendais. I went to find them and listen to them and they are sublime, beautiful, and gorgeous...just like Celine. I enjoyed both of them very much! T. Black Kitten Posted April 7, 2008 at 09:22 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 09:22 PM actually i can't find a single reason to hate SISDA. i really love the album, arrangements and the vocals, hands down! D'eux is fine, but the songs are pretty lame for my taste, 1 Fille & 4 Types, for some reason, i find it the happiest album she ever recorded. love it! Je Crois Toi took me awhile to really appreciate it. vocally, nothing compares to All by Myself. her version is just immortal and for me, the best vocals ever by any artist around. but for the french songs, J'attendais really stands out for me especially the Live a Paris version. jonny823 Posted April 7, 2008 at 09:27 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 09:27 PM Agreed -- JCT is a masterpiece not only among Celine's catalog but music in general. Beautiful vocals, beautiful musical arrangement. The Au Coeur du Stade performance is simply I can imagine being at that show in person, that song would be a break from the whole show where I would totally lose myself in the peace of the song for those few minutes... nano Posted April 8, 2008 at 08:28 AM Posted April 8, 2008 at 08:28 AM I love the song...it's amazing. The arrangements are so beautiful. The song got good reviews in Finland...and the album was rated with 4 starts (out of 5) Quote "Today, I’m a person on a path of connecting with my source and understanding that I am on the leading edge of creation.."
grobandion Posted April 8, 2008 at 05:26 PM Posted April 8, 2008 at 05:26 PM I foind "Je crois toi" too repetitive..I like it tough. Still, my fav is "Rien est vraiment fini", can't explain why.Pour que tu maimes encore is great, and the version with the 500 choristes, even better.I like her duet with this guy, Garou too. I think they sound amazing together. Quote
luciusbright Posted March 17, 2009 at 04:00 AM Posted March 17, 2009 at 04:00 AM We know that singing in her native French brings out the best in Celine but the quality of her *timbre* in this particular track is sublime in a way that NO ONE can surpass.I appreciate what you said, I totally agree with you on those comments Quote S'il suffisait d'aimer...
smw Posted March 17, 2009 at 04:12 AM Posted March 17, 2009 at 04:12 AM This song really does stand alone as one of her finest. Simple - and stunning. Hard to believe it's from the same singer as "Rain, Tax"! Quote
Javito Posted March 17, 2009 at 10:29 AM Posted March 17, 2009 at 10:29 AM This song really does stand alone as one of her finest. Simple - and stunning. Hard to believe it's from the same singer as "Rain, Tax"! I think both have nothing to see with each other, we shouldn't mix the styles and her pop english career with her more sophisticated french songs I deeply love Je Crois Toi (probably one of her best french tracks ever), but I also appreciate Rain Tax Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
minolli Posted March 17, 2009 at 08:26 PM Posted March 17, 2009 at 08:26 PM "Je crois toi" is a masterpiece. It feels so intimate and shows how much emotion Celine is able to convey even when singing subtly. I'd love to hear more English songs with that sort of mood... dancer105 Posted March 17, 2009 at 08:49 PM Posted March 17, 2009 at 08:49 PM at first I couldn't remember which song you guys were talking about, probably because I'm still beating myself up over not having the SSD album yet but then I listened to it and remembered the song and now I can't stop listening to it.. it's really beautiful and I wish she would have some english songs like this Quote
Javito Posted March 17, 2009 at 09:27 PM Posted March 17, 2009 at 09:27 PM She needs more low key songs on her english repertoire definetly, and with a more acoustic sound She uses too much her high notes lately, when its not even necessary to do them Someone needs to tell her how beautiful is her voice when its in a soft low key mood!! Songs like Did You Give Enough Love or If I Were You... awww Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Filine Posted March 18, 2009 at 08:14 AM Posted March 18, 2009 at 08:14 AM I like Je Crois Toi, but it has a certain mood I am not always comfortable with. But it's true that the vocals are exquisite Quote http://www.celinedion.nl/pics/cindy/bannerza.jpg"They call my home the land of snow, Canadian cold front movin' in"
Davey84 Posted March 18, 2009 at 08:37 AM Posted March 18, 2009 at 08:37 AM I love this song. It had an amazing ambiance! it's one of her few 'dark' songs, and she should record more songs in the same line as this song! I was surprised that it was part of the french LTAL leg, though it would sound better in a smaller setting IMO. the SISDA album is a masterpiece! Javito Posted March 18, 2009 at 10:28 AM Posted March 18, 2009 at 10:28 AM the SISDA album is a masterpiece! Even more than D'eux IMO I don't know why this album didn't sell more than D'eux, when it has brilliant songs She never did again more songs like Je Crois Toi, ONCP, En Attendant Ses Pas... And L'Abandon is priceless Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
