Prince Whiskers Posted April 5, 2008 at 11:17 AM Posted April 5, 2008 at 11:17 AM We know that singing in her native French brings out the best in Celine but the quality of her *timbre* in this particular track is sublime in a way that NO ONE can surpass. Dionesque Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:15 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:15 PM I love that song!! That seemed to be the 1st radio single from "SSDA" in Poland as it was the first song from this album which I heard on the radio quite a long before the album release. I was absolutely amazed and blown away with this track!! Special emotions, mysterious feelings... Chin Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:26 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:26 PM The second most boring song to me on SSD, after Papillon.maybe it is because the ending is too long...the ending of live version is shorter Quote
Simon Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:30 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:30 PM (edited) I love this song! Jan Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:49 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:49 PM (edited) I heard this song on Au coeur du stade for the first time and I found it perfect! I agree with chinchin_dreampalace, the ending is too long on the album version, I prefer the live performance because of that. Edited April 5, 2008 at 01:49 PM by Jan Quote

fred Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:58 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:58 PM This song is a productional master piece. It has one of the most perfect arrengements and musical production of any other Céline song. And her vocals ar perrfect aswell, very soulful. And no it's not because it's in French, she had similar vocal styles in the verses of Si Jetais Quelle Qu'un, which was just horrible. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
Black Kitten Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:59 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 01:59 PM possibly my 3rd most played song on SISDA. the other 2 being Papillon and On ne Change Pas. as i always say SISDA is my most favorite french album of hers. but for me, J'attendais (Live a Paris) has the most relaxing voice i've ever heard from celine, especially the acapella part. you can just close your eyes and feel every word she is singing. WUNDARBAR!!! lol Quote

Dionesque Posted April 5, 2008 at 02:19 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 02:19 PM I would never compare it to "Papillon" which, in my opinion, is really boring. It's like comparing "TCOML" album to "Miracle"... I also love "J'attendais" and "Je sais pas" very much! I love such great vocals and this way of showing emotions in songs.... Prince Whiskers Posted April 5, 2008 at 02:46 PM Author Posted April 5, 2008 at 02:46 PM This song is a veritable work of art! I thought it was boring the first time I heard it, but when I turned up the volume (have you ever tried doing that, Bellamy?), I was aghast at how beautifully layered it was and I thought (and still do) that Celine sounded gorgeous with a capital G. I don't detect the vocal similarity bet. this song and SJQ where I think Celine sounds much less vulnerable (w/c is not exactly a bad thing). carlottazenere Posted April 5, 2008 at 03:09 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 03:09 PM I fell in love with this song from the very first time I listened to it In my opinion céline is really sweet and delicate in this song..Ialso watched the "making of" of it,and I really adore the expression of her face, the way of interpreting it..she's really vulnerable,a little bit scared but passionate..this songs unveils something special and very intimate of her..this is one of my favourite french songs Quote Je m'inventerai reine pour que tu me retiennesJe me ferai nouvelle pour que le feu reprenneJe deviendrai ces autres qui te donnent du plaisirVos jeux seront les notres si tel est ton desirPlus brillante plus belle pour une autre étincelleJe me changerai en or pour que tu m' aimes encore http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/3121/celyfunnybx0.png

Javito Posted April 5, 2008 at 04:46 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 04:46 PM What an amazing surprise that so many fans are showing their appreciation for this song here!. I absolutely agree with you. SSDA was a late addition in my collection when I began buying all her albums, but when I bought it and played the first time, I fell in love inmediately with this track . And it isn't an easy song to like at the first listen!. But in my case its all because of the arrangements, those great strings in the bridge (aww ) and most of all, because Céline's vocals are showed here in a very low tone. We don't have many Céline songs in low key, so this one is truly a treasure . And also, we can enjoy the live performance in ACDS concert, which is amazing. I love how she moves and feels the song in the bridge This song is a productional master piece. It has one of the most perfect arrengements and musical production of any other Céline song. Agree Its a masterpiece from the beggining to the end. I wish she had more "low" songs like this one. She is lately abusing of her high notes in excess now Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
smw Posted April 5, 2008 at 05:33 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 05:33 PM There are SO many tracks on both D'eux and SSDA that she sounds perfect on....truly a gift of God. Simple - solemn - stunning. God knows the woman can belt like no other....but she can also keep it simple like no one else can. Quote
LVCeline Posted April 5, 2008 at 08:45 PM Posted April 5, 2008 at 08:45 PM I could take or leave this song easily and not miss it. If I never heard it again I wouldn't say another word about it. It's probably the most skipped song on that album. I don't know, it just sounds very strange to me, production wise, and her voice is too high and whispery for my liking. It's just a very odd sounding song to me; especially that flutey instrument solo in the middle. Sorry guys, I just don't care for it very much! Quote

Shows she doesn't need the big notes to be stunning X That's the plain and biggest truth in Céline's voice, but it seems she doesn't realize and she has to "scream" on every song, especially recently in Taking Chances Quote "Hush, now...
