Celine Dion’s Show Goes On …

Fans were treated to a Grammy award-winning performance when Canadian diva Celine Dion hit the stage for her long-awaited tour – the last time she visited Australia was ten years ago.

 

Due to a continuing bout of illness with a respiratory tract infection, the superstar singer was forced to postpone many of her shows until she was well enough to sing again – the result was an extremely entertaining show at Rod Laver Arena where she performed at her best. Equipped with her powerhouse voice, endless energy and a 10-piece band, Celine thrilled the capacity crowd opening the show with I Drove All Night. She looked stunning in her black jewelled mini-dress.

 

Celine apologized to the audience saying, “It’s not always easy to perform a song but canceling a show is even harder.” Nonetheless, the adoring audience was up and down out of their seats throughout her performance. Many favourite hits followed; The Power Of Love, It’s All Coming Back To Me, Because You Loved Me and the extraordinary high notes of the power ballad All By Myself.

 

Celine included five costume changes throughout the night, all adding to the special flavour and flair that a Celine Dion concert brings – with dedicated fans paying between $100 and $400 for tickets, there certainly didn’t seem to be any disappointed faces in the crowd. Her near two-hour show also included a number of encores that showcased her massive hit from the Titanic film, My Heart Will Go On.

I have looked everywhere but I can't find...

 

These performances are outstanding. I was worried about Celine's voice at the start of the tour but after watching these clips it seems she has rediscovered herself. I cannot wait for Manchester!!

Rene-Charles was so adorable dancing along with his mum singing away to Love Can Move Mountains.

Her performance was impeccable especially Taking Chances, Alone and All By Myself... would be great if they made a DVD of Taking Chances live in Melbourne or any of the Australian shows seeing as she turned 40 while on tour here.

Like you I can't believe I saw her I'm so sad it's over though, such a build up and the anticipation and it's all over. Going to the LA show now though so very excited, my bank account however is not so excited lol oh well the things you will do for Celine!!!

 

Rene and Rene-Charles were towards the back of the floor on Rod Laver Arena I think maybe near the sound or tech guys.... not too sure who they were but I had Gold Floor tickets and they were elevated so I could see them they were just a couple of meters from me I assume the woman Rene-Charles was sitting with was his Nanny? as Rene was discussing the show's progress with the other guys.

 

How good would a Melbourne DVD be!!!! I'm so bringing a "Hello from Australia" poster and Aussie flag to wave at the US concert maybe she'll notice me... I think I would actually faint... I can only hope!

 

How were your seats to the Melbourne show?

I doubt if this show was in the round. The intro video seems to suggest this show was in the round.

No it wasn't in the round. But there were some people sitting behind Celine, hence there being no video screen as the backdrop. I think they decided to add those seats at the last minute instead of adding an additional concert!!

 

It was the first time I have ever seen Celine, and being front row just topped it off. I will never EVER forget that night as long as I live.

They watched the back of her head I presume these were cheap tickets still $150AUD most likely and I don't think this section of seats was opened until a few days before there must have been a demand or something... I dunno how though considering many people had to get refunds because of the reschedule.

 

I can't believe how long it's been I went to Rod Laver to see Michale Buble last week and I walked in thinking last time I was here I was seeing Celine it brings a tear to my eye

That's exactly right. They could only see the back of her. Celine turned around a couple of times though. However the seats there were the cheapest and people CHOSE to sit there, so there wasn't much that could be done.

Additional seats were added behind the stage due to high demand but why only 79% of tickets (12,266 out of 15,431) were sold?

Probably would have been due to the fact that she rescheduled due to illness during the Australian leg of the tour.
