VinnyT. Posted March 27, 2008 at 08:38 PM Author Posted March 27, 2008 at 08:38 PM Celine Dion, Ashley Tisdale & More Join 'Idol Gives Back'27.03.08 23:59 ( Accecss Hollywood )- A host of A-list stars are joining the "Idol Gives Back" fold, it was announced earlier toady. Singing sensation Celine Dion, box office busting funnyman Robin Williams, Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, Yankee-for-a-day Billy Crystal, funnyman Dane Cook and "High School Musical" stars Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens were just some of the names Fox added to "American Idol's" charity night, set to air April 9. For years "American Idol" has ruled television screens as the biggest ratings juggernaut in primetime. And last year, in their sixth season, they decided to change the focus of the competition for one week - bringing in a host of stars, including Gwen Stefani and Bono, who helped them raise awareness and funds, which have supported charities across the globe. This year will be no different and even more stars are flocking to the "Idol" stage. Oscar winner Jennifer Connoly, "24" star Kiefer Sutherland, "Enchanted" actress Amy Adams, former "Idol" alumni Eliott Yamin (Season 5) and "Idol" Season 3 winner Fantasia, will also turn up for the 2008 installment of "Idol Gives Back." The two-and-a-half-hour show will be broadcast from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, the location the Academy Awards are held every year. Last year the event raised over $76 million for charity. This year, monies raised will go to the Children's Defense Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, and the Children's Health Fund. The newly announced stars join a cast which already includes U2's Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli and Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart and Gloria Estefan. celbabs Posted March 27, 2008 at 10:09 PM Posted March 27, 2008 at 10:09 PM She doesn't have to sing the next single from the album. Celine tends to do different things when she does TV - not always the obvious next/current single. She may do something special like last year - NO ONE expected that and it really got people talking!! Since she's on tour now she'll either do a prerecorded message or a prerecorded performance. Whatever she does it'll be great!! Yeah, it got a lot of people talking and a lot of people were talking about how horrific and embarassing it was! Many people think dead performers should stay dead and shouldn't be "brought back from the grave" to do virtual duets with has-been singers. Now, of course, I lurve me some Celine so I didn't think so; however, all I heard from people was how horrible it was and they couldn't believe that she did that. That's why, this year, I would prefer that she just sing a song by herself, from her new album. Quote
Celine AJ Posted March 27, 2008 at 10:09 PM Posted March 27, 2008 at 10:09 PM How will this be possible since she is performing in Perth on the 4th and in Malaysia on the 8th (from memory)...there is no way she will detour to Malaysia via LA........ Maybe it will be via satilite or something or they might show a song from the tour.....??? Quote

Thecolourofmylove Posted March 27, 2008 at 10:32 PM Posted March 27, 2008 at 10:32 PM I'd bet my house she will NOT be singing. Last year, they had Madonna send a message from Africa and other stars just asking the audience to contribute in pre-taped messages. Not a chance she will perform, as Simon would say. It was making qutie a lot of buzz everywhere, in fact, many new members registered the day later to download the performance. rbysjti Posted March 28, 2008 at 09:50 AM Posted March 28, 2008 at 09:50 AM I would love her to sing either "Can't Fight The Feelin'" or "That's Just The Woman In Me". But since she can't hit those songs live, (that's what i think 'cos she doesn't give enough rest for her voice which explains why when she performs the songs are sung in a lower key) and since the song should be related to the program, I would want her to sing "A World To Believe In" Quote
