Koolan Posted November 9, 2004 at 06:39 AM Posted November 9, 2004 at 06:39 AM So, I want to know if any of you have been closet Celine fans before. Maybe you even know a few or have converted some! I've been a closet Celine fan during the Titanic era, but as time went by, people started to realize that I'm one. It didn't take long before the word got out, I wouldn't tell anyone straight up that I like her though They'll find out eventually, that's when I tell them about it. Now, I feel more open about telling others that adore her. Share your experiences here. Quote Please support the forum by ordering through our Amazon.com referral link below. I've liked her for almost 10 years now, since 1995 when I heard Pour que tu m'aimes encore my mom liked her too so I had no reason to be ashamed. Since this time I've like Céline and I've been a fan, and all my friends know that. They don't like her though haha but I did convert 2 of them ! Working on the others... celinedioniloveyou Posted November 9, 2004 at 12:54 PM Posted November 9, 2004 at 12:54 PM I to have always been a PROUD Celine fan and NEVER been ashamed to let people know....So much so that for the last 5 YEARS everyday I have worn a Celine T-Shirt. so when I go out people can't fail to see that I am a PROUD fan. It sometimes annoys me that people certainly in the English Pop media magazines never seem to have a good word to say about her, and I've seen it happen a few times on TV wen a celeb happens to say they like Celine that others seem to raise eyebrows as if to say "Really" Surely they must realise that Celine must have a lot of fans to be the TOP selling female artist of ALL TIME. 1'M A PROUD CELINE FAN AND I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS Quote God look after you Celine Dion and all your family & friends you are a wonderful gift and I am truly blessed and lucky enough to have been around from 1968 to today to witness you blossom into a national treasure................. much love always xxxx

Clari Posted January 12, 2005 at 11:37 AM Posted January 12, 2005 at 11:37 AM (edited) My neighboor is BIGTIME closet fan... she has LTAL CD... and I KNOW she's seen "A New Day..." at least once she had a couple of Celine magazines from the opening night laying around and she knows TOO MUCH about the theater, prices, Celine, etc. Once "To Love You More" was playing in a store and she was humming with it... haha and she pretended not to know it was CELINE DEEEEEON. Celinette Posted January 12, 2005 at 04:46 PM Posted January 12, 2005 at 04:46 PM I'm very proud! I love Céline sooooooooooo much, & when I come to know a new person, I tell her/him that I'm a CÉLINE DION fan! "...all my friends know that. They don't like her though haha but I did convert 2 of them ! Working on the others...." - Me too... I have a brother, who says me that: "I hate Céline! She has a very big nose..." But I know that It's not true! He has a lots of Céline mp3, videos, ....etc on his computer! He says these things because he want to play me up! Quote <3 Céline Dion <3
LD1977 Posted January 12, 2005 at 05:35 PM Posted January 12, 2005 at 05:35 PM I know what you mean with 'closet-fans', at first I didn't shout it out that I was a fan. I was not afraid to tell, but it was not something I told everyone. Many people have certain idea's about Céline, which are not right, by the way. Later I realised I don't care what other people think about me or her. She is the best singer in the world, I LOVE HER, I travel to Vegas as often as I can and I don't care what anyone thinks of it. It's funny, because I started to bring people in touch with Céline. Everyone is surprised when they hear a cd of her, because they always thought she only makes ballads or boring music. Thanks to my effort I made some people fan too! (Eat your heart out, SONY!) It's hilarious, because I once gave a cd to a woman I worked with and she took it home. Her husband listened to it too and since then he ONLY listens to Céline, he drives her crazy! He has every cd and DVD. In his car he has a cd-player for 10 different cd's and according to my collegue, there are 10 cd's of Céline in it. ALWAYS. Sometimes he changes them, but its always Céline! When my collegue buys a new album, she always says: "I will make a copy for myself first, because as soon as he sees it, I will not see that cd again..." I AM PROUD TO BE HER FAN! So if you are a closet-fan, stop it! Be proud of her, proud of yourself and show the world how great Céline is! I converted one person while in college, he had the FIY CD in the drawer so I asked him if he would like to hear more of Celin and he agreed. Later, I sent him many of the hit song, he fell in love with her music.. haha, it was great. He plays it almost everyday, his roommate also have some of Celine's songs. Lymon Posted February 12, 2009 at 01:28 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 01:28 AM I'm proud to be a fan, but I don't tell every single person I meet. My family and close friends in real life know i'm a big fan, but I won't tell somebody as soon as I meet them. If they ask to look at my iPod, i'm kind of hesitant because they'll see my huge Celine collection . But once they've found out, most people are OK with it. Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png
Black Kitten Posted February 12, 2009 at 01:58 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 01:58 AM nah i've never been a closet Celine fan. i started to really love her during the Falling into You era, and i was just a 10 year old kid then. i asked my mom to buy me a cassette format of that album, and eversince, all the people that i grew up with, family and friends, know i'm a huge fan of hers. nothing to feel shy about it, really. i do believe i chose the best person to idolize (save my mom of course), so who cares what others may say? she may not be perfect, but my life would never be perfect without her. Véronyk Posted February 12, 2009 at 02:51 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 02:51 AM I'm like in the middle. If people ask me what music I like, I would told them. But if not, probably they never realise that i'm a fan. I don't hide it, but i'm not on any roof to say to everybody that i am a fan. SO ...,. i'm not ashamed, but i'm not screaming it everywhere i go. tearsinheaven87 Posted February 12, 2009 at 04:05 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 04:05 AM (edited) I've never been an closet fan, I'm loud and proud of my love/slightly unhealthy obsession with Mrs Dion. I did convert one of my friends however, for years she insisted she absolutely despised Céline (I know, I know what you are all thinking; how on earth could I possible befriend someone who is clearly mentally unstable), the main reason was due to MHWGO. But a few months ago we were driving in my car and I had my ipod hooked up to the radio and My Love came on. My friend asked who was that singing, naturally I stared at her as if she had ten heads and told her that is was Céline. Of course at this point I wanted to kick her out of the moving car for not even recognising her voice. Honestly. Any-who she refused to believe it was Céline because she hates her and would never ever like one of her songs. After a long talk my friend finally came to terms with the fact that she did like the song, even though it was Céline Dion. The past few months have been extremely tough for her, coming to terms with the knowledge that she was in fact turning into a fan of Céline. She joined a twelve step programme in order to hep her deal with the whole situation. The first step was admitting she was powerless over her growing love for Céline's music. Which she accomplished with some difficulty. But now I can happily tell you all that she has finally reached step twelve, she went out and proudly bought her very first Céline Dion, Taking Chances, and she walked from that shop with her head held high. (Later that week she also bought LTAL, FIY, TCOML, AND, and My Love collection) (She has also had to buy a second copy of Taking Chances because the other one had been played so many times it was actually scratched to bits).
